Shit, I thought people were just being dramatic about Games Workshop trying to make WH40K kid-friendly. How with characters like Slaanesh and the overall grimdark setting? And aren’t the rules for the actual game really complicated to the point kids would have trouble with it? I was just starting to love this franchise too.
Also this franchise was never safe. I’ve been seeing a lot of SJW fans on Tumblr complaining about its toxic masculinity and generally being Feminist 40k or whatever it’s called. They sound like they don’t enjoy the game or its lore at all most of the time.

Why dont we list everything that will have to be cut from the books in order to be "child friendly"
- blood (so Imperial Guard off the list)
- religious fanaticism (so the Sisters of Battle are off the list)
- extreme poverty and repression (so most of the imperium is off the list)
- torture (so the Dark Eldar are off the list)
- anything vaguely sexual (so slaanesh off the list)
- body horror (so nurgle off the list)
- anything too confusing (so Tzeentch off the list)
- violence (so Khorne off the list)
- bigotry (so....everyone is off the fucking list)

Which leaves us with.......what exactly?

Slaaneesh got yanked out of Sigmar, so I wouldn't be shocked if it happens in 40k too. I really don't get why they'd try to tone down Warhammer 40k tbh- the whole appeal of 40k is its retardedly edgy to the point it loops around a few times into being great.

It's also fast and cheap, which is kind of the point. Studios have adopted an anime-style demand for pumping shows out, and instead make it so it can be done with minimal crunch time as possible. The result is this god-awful schlocky style that is nice and quick to pump out. It's disappointing because as we've seen elsewhere, you can do whatever style you want on computers these days and it can look pretty nice.

I remember as a young child, I absolutely loved the 1992 Batman series. That show was as dark and serious as it could get. This show was specifically made for children and it's one of the top cartoons of all time.

The 1992 Batman Series started off on the simple ideas of "Children are not stupid" and "adults will be watching as well, whether alone or with their children" and then proceeded to run with it as hard as humanly possible. They treated it with respect and reverence a (then) 60 year old icon deserved, and even had the amazing send up to Adam West's batman with the man himself voicing the Silver Shadow. They redefined Mr Freeze and Harley Quinn to the point their origin stories are considered sacredly canonical.

What I'd say was interesting, and was a show I thought of when you mentioned 92 Batman was Rooster Teeth's RWBY. A show Monty and the others had designed from the outset with the teen/adult market in mind and have found themselves with a huge family following. RWBY, for it's kind of "obvious" writing has never pulled its punches on mature themes and doesn't treat its audience like complete fuckwad to jangle keys at.

Heck, they even have the Cowboy Beebop reference with the damn corgi Zwei.

I’m going to laugh so hard at the changes they’ll make to the Primarchs and the Emperor. Roboute Guilliman and the Ultramarines would be more or less the same too I bet.

I am...confused.

Deeply, deeply confused.

Who the fuck do they think the actual market for this shit is? Each one of those three main characters would be shot in 40K for what they're doing. So, does that mean the Imperium of Man are the badguys? Are the Necrons? Will Chaos be brought up, or the Horus Heresy? Did the people behind this do any fucking research into the franchise they're hoping to introduce to little school children?
