I really like Gravity Falls and think it's one of the best cartoons of decade, but yeah, it's style still can be part of this trend. Anyway, when it premiered in 2012 this artstyle was a lot less widespread.
People are parodying Cartoon Network bad reboot trend, of course there are other cartoons too, but trend is visible.
Ehhh... H-B cartoons was made in 70s when there was a lot less TV channels, it was really different situation in general and somehow kids are enjoing watching many of them on Boomerang? I bet young boys would prefer orginal Thundercats over this show too.
 
There's a Downfall parody clip where Hitler talk about Thundercats Roar despite then I would had wished for the well more familiar scene from Downfall.
