Somehow you forgot to mention the biggest one, general inability to understand storytelling, whether it comes to creating a story that's interesting or makes sense in the first place, or making it work in comic format. My brief list of Bad webcomic traits i see way too much:
-art and speech that will be dated in 3 months
-no plot beyond soapboxing
-if you remove the speech bubbles the illustrations make no sense aka the panels are there just to look pretty and yknow, not convey actual story
-author takes themselves too seriously
-i can excuse bad art especially from newbies but some take it too far (this does not apply for sonic themed cartoons because.. reasons)
-poor paneling that either makes no sense or the gutter itself just looks bad. Idk why but this bothers me
-over dramatica
-that one 2000s webcomic style that involves busty women with strange hair dye, a cliche fantasy setting and fantastic plastic esque rendering with unharmonized, clashy colors
-furry but its either just anime girls with whiskers and ears or the jarring semi cartoon style that somehow always ends up having a sideblog for obscure fetish content
-being floraverse or assigned male
-“I have depression and all my gags revolve around Life beating me haha” the comic
-relateable
-gamer humor
-please for the love of god use an actual comic font. You cant go wrong with Backissues, you cant go right with helvetica. If thats too mainstream then make your own font, its basically free
-people who dont announce their hiatus, and they dont spend their hiatus actually creating new content. Like if you vanish for 5 months at least toss a little bonus content at the audience when they get back
-people who pride themselves in being a webcomic guru because they have a Patreon and get views, but the actual comic is 4 panels a week, hack garbage that anyone could make
- and then they complain that it is such hard work while if you look at publisher standards many people make far more complex pages once a day without whining
Sorry I’m passionate about comics and this little niche industry is filled with hot messes
Just look at the worst comics out there. Struggling to connect the plot, to convey it, to portray it visually and not trough text dumps. You can make even a simplistic story work well if you can deliver it in a good way, and then you can butcher some brilliant concepts even more easily.
