After decades of relegating its LGBTQ characters to the sidelines, Marvel really turned things around with America and Iceman, its first two ongoing series featuring queer characters as their titular leads. Both books have been important additions to Marvel’s ever-expanding portfolio, but it seems as if the time has come for at least one of them to end. March’s comics solicitations are out this week and a number of titles including America are conspicuously missing, which heavily implies that the titles have been canceled. This afternoon, Marvel editor Heather Antos confirmed that Gwenpool, another title missing from the March solicits, was definitely canceled, further suggesting that any titles missing from the lineup as of today are done for.

I'm late to the party on this one. This is the one blissful saving grace of the SJW infestation. They don't understand how propaganda works, or the true power in it.

They are also taking something that was already left leaning but turning it into ham handed garbage nobody wants. Captain America literally punched Hitler in the face, for instance.

Sure you have the rare Steve Ditko or Frank Miller, but for every one of those guys you have at least a dozen people like Alan Moore and another couple dozen mainstream liberals.

And then you have absolutely ridiculous shit like taking an already SJW-friendly character like Squirrel Girl and just. . .fucking it up for no reason, literally just to piss off its fans. Why?

I guess it's ultimately a good thing these people are so incompetent.

The idea of an oppressed super hero is absurd. If anything, these super humans would be the oppressors. Concepts old non-SJW comics explored in the Injustice saga or the Watchmen comics. Nobody wants to hear about how oppressed a Super Hero is, yet in SJW land there is nobility and power in being oppressed. You see it in their blog posts and comments, where they are constantly arguing about which group is more oppressed or marginalized then others. It is a total perversion of power dynamics as people usually see it. The most oppressed group in their little cult gets to hold the most power over it. I think centuries from now anthropologists will find these freaks a fascinating study.

The more we seem to ask these questions, the more I seem to keep finding examples that makes the wild swinging attempted colonization of Marvel by SJWs even more bizarre.

Because the SJWs want it to all be about them and theirs and how to scream about how evil everyone is for not buying a pile of ugly shit. Just like what happened to Squirrel Girl when the art turned to shit because they're all self absorbed narcissistic arseholes. It was never about being successful because people like Jeph Jaques has proven there's a market for it and people willing to pay for it.

:offtopic: The problem with the X-Men being "oppressed superheroes" which I pointed out in our other comic threads is they're written in this static way that doesn't really address how mutants are in-universe or reflects the real world. They can still function with that concept but it's undermined with how the 2000s turned them into segregationists and how "Us as Homo Superior will replace you" became something the X-Men openly believe instead of the product of fearmongers like Magneto. They've just ended up a weird passive form of supremacist. It completely ignores the fact X-genes aren't guaranteed even with mutant parents or ignoring retcons, people are paranoid of X-gene mutations for being spontaneous and chaotic. It falls apart whenever you try to make them 1:1 to any real world minority group.

It's nice that since the X-Men came back to the front of Marvel that the segregation stuff is mostly dropped but they still push that weird supremacist stuff instead of focusing on the fact that they are still human beings no matter what. Mutants are barely a separate thing from your average joe on Earth-616. The Unity Squad from "Uncanny Avengers" is a better representation of "the dream" than the X-Men have been in a long while.

What about Spider-Man? Ever since his inception he was meant to represent the Average Joe and his struggles in society, what with balancing jobs, bills, college and the like. He had girl troubles when not taking care of his elderly sick aunt, and often had to sacrifice his low income to pay for greater things.

Of course that's really different from being truly "oppressed", and only the billionaires of the world couldn't relate to Spidey's problems...

That's also interesting to consider. Aside from the gay stereotypes, most of these tumblr-approved characters are pretty much single by default. Thorina, Squirrel Girl, Ms Marvel...Are all suspiciously devoid of romance in their stories.

I believe the Youtubers described it best when he declared the modern comic creators to be, almost to an individual “Childless Losers”. These are bitter lonely people. The original comics were created by a group of mostly family men. People raising and understanding children, and the dynamics of marriage and relationships. All of life’s little subtle nuances and joys. Whereas the current crew? Let’s just say that up until a few weeks ago Marvel Comics would have been the logical and likely end point for MovieBob.

A few people actually started to look through the books from the past two years or so. They have literally erased or downplayed every straight romantic relationship in comics. The only regular couples shown are Lesbians.

Who knew that basing your comics entirely off of identity politics will turn people away, mainly because 90% of the same population cannot relate to social justice rhetoric?

So much this. Having a daughter now almost 2 years old, I can confirm that having a child causes huge psychological changes. It really does change the nature of how you view the world, yourself, and your relationships. The need for personal pleasure and rebellion against authority really shifts. Because its no longer "just about you", and you literally become "the man". Or in any case, you become your fucking dad (fuck). The people making these comics are also the same people who say you shouldn't have kids because its bad for the environment, or even more fun, because it perpetuates oppressive power structures. Probably to justify their hedonistic lifestyles. Nietzsche was right when he warned that the death of god would undermine the social fabric of society as our rational brains are utterly incapable of controlling our worst instincts.

The SJW is the personification nihilistic hedonism. Nothing matters. Only self actualization. They then combine it with this ridiculous social struggle crap that they claim is super important but in fact don't really care about. The only thing they care about is the self affirmation they get from their intellectual peers about how progressive and foreword thinking they are.

I don't read comics and only know the cliffs notes of big events but I know the gist of what you're saying, and I'll be damned but until you put it succinctly I didn't really see how loony this was. Magneto started as a villain because his whole motivation was segregation and genocide, now the "heroes" are embracing those same concepts. Just like the real-life SJW groups the authors want to please I guess.

Oh god, I think I figured out where Dobson is gonna end up.

Which makes the half hearted campaign to 'update' Magneto and make him black to make him more topical even funnier.

"But we're totally not racist, we swear we are not!" :story:
I noticed that there's something really funny when it comes to "washing" a character's race. Black-washing famous white characters like Magneto or Hermione Granger will make you "progressive", while trying to white-wash a famous black character like Luke Cage would make you "so incredibly racist" that there's no chance of ever being able to live it down.

It's almost like there's some form of a double standard or something.

"Erasure is okay when it's white people" is the modus operandi of these virtue signalling ultra-twats. It also seems to be okay when the erase Jews too because they are "white passing".

The Hermione example is especially funny considering she's based off of Rownling herself at that age and had a say in the movie's casting.

Now imagine if someone suggests that Black Panther should actually be trans and we'll see how that works out.

IDW's probably on rather thin ice and is going to wind up with Hasbro either breathing down their necks about editorial control, or ditching them entirely in favour of someone who'll be more willing to bend over backwards to keep the big customer happy. Problem is IDW has enough deals to hand that if they did get canned by Hasbro they won't die off.
Don't IDW sell a shedload of the Transformers comics through? I don't think IDW are in any real longterm trouble considering they are relaunching the Sonic comic this year and have the My Little Pony and Star Wars license.

I don't mind changing Hermione's race because her race is utterly irrelevant in the story, but Magneto's big schtick is that he's a tragic figure who depending on where he is in his life, is dangerously close to/actually is re-enacting the same horrors he himself suffered through. You can make a Magneto legacy character black, but Magneto himself doesn't need "updating" and it's a deep insult to his creators, fans, and comics in general.

I do wonder if part of this shift stemmed from the period when the former CEO Ike Permutter had a massive hate-boner for the X-Men because of the Fox rights and would give out mandates to try and undermine their popularity from trying to have an event that killed them all off, to announcing another event where Cyclops would be revealed to be a terrorist only to reveal this terrible thing he did was basically recycling and not even people working at Marvel can explain how it made him a terrorist, to weird announcements like that the X-Men and all mutants were going to be Raptured away to a new planet that ended up quietly piddled out of existence. That's not even getting into the time travel clusterfuck or the typical Marvel BS they tried with Wolverine's daughter taking over after his death and then giving the book to a writer who knew nothing about her but I digress or shuffling a bunch of X-Men into Guardians of the Galaxy.

Really the X-Men have been tampered with by higher ups so much that even the writers seem like they're sick of it:
