After decades of relegating its LGBTQ characters to the sidelines, Marvel really turned things around with America and Iceman, its first two ongoing series featuring queer characters as their titular leads. Both books have been important additions to Marvel’s ever-expanding portfolio, but it seems as if the time has come for at least one of them to end. March’s comics solicitations are out this week and a number of titles including America are conspicuously missing, which heavily implies that the titles have been canceled. This afternoon, Marvel editor Heather Antos confirmed that Gwenpool, another title missing from the March solicits, was definitely canceled, further suggesting that any titles missing from the lineup as of today are done for.

The only comic I'm somewhat going to miss is Gwenpool.
Then again, they probably ruined her in the latest issues (which I haven't read), and death is better than becoming another SJW fucktoy.

Hasbro is not having their shit though. The author writing their GI Joe books had his latest one cancelled before it even came out because he stirred shit for a long time and some tweets about 9/11 was the straw that broke the camel's back for that fandom. Hasbro decided they like to keep the audience that actually buys their stuff happy and told IDW to cut that shit out.

ETA: They also hate what they did with this character the most. It's bad.

Actually, her last few comics will be revolving around her having to come to terms that her series is ending, and to either go villain, or something else. She still might be around as guest appearances in other comics though.

Last news of the guy is he got 'promoted' into doing a new all female series (That didn't use the name GI Joe) which got cancelled due to poor sales, fans of his think it was sabotage because he was banned from doing any publicity for it.

(Also this is IDW not Marvel*)

For Christ's sake, Image's Monsteress is still going and it sells like shit and fucking Marvel can't get a few token diversity titles to move more than 15k a pull? How pathetic.

Because they did the thing that actually pissed everyone off. They did the diversity shit wrong, completely wrong, and ignored and shit upon every opportunity to do the handoffs and new characters right.

I think we all know multiple people on deviantart will screenshot all the art, crudely trace over it in mspaint, and have their OC DO NOT STEELs uploaded to DA starting within 10 minutes of the Marvel site going live.

As one of the pathetic few that actually read some of this series, it is without question the WORST comic I have ever read. And I started collecting comics in 1973. I don’t think it’s possible to put into words just how unspeakably bad every element of the book was. It was like the Tumblr of a teenage girl who’s being force fed way too much Ritalin. The dialog was just random sentences. Characters said things but never seemed to be talking to each other. Just blurting out randomness. The art was below amateur and into autistic. The artist too lazy to do backgrounds or scenery so every panel is just two characters facing forward or side profile saying something, against a blank background. Dobson is a better artist than however shat this out. I would criticize the story but I was never able to actually find one. I paid for two issues. I think they gave me ptsd and a brain tumor. In 40 years of collecting and reading comics they are the only 2 books I have ever thrown in the fucking garbage.

The only other comic that comes close to how bad the unbearable Wasp was is America Chavez. Also recently cancelled. America’s writer Gabby Rivera is certifiably a true lolcow and deserves his/her/it’s own thread around here if there isn’t already one.

Monstress has excellent art ruined by constant narration and political bullshit that is impossible to follow, surrounded by everyone fellating the main heroine who just snarls in their face and never grows as a person.

It's constantly going away from the main story to go to some anecdote or to show yet another magical matriarch who hates the lead heroine, and when you think you have a break, you have to deal with the end of issue infodumps presented by cute cats.

It's all just overwhelming.
 
And once more, SJW art is proven to be shallow, valueless and incompetent. This is why they constantly yell at companies to do things for them, because no one wants what they are peddling. Normal people don't care about virtue signaling. They are too concerned with going about their everyday lives. I don't know when companies are going to get this through their thick fucking skulls that 90% of the people consuming this shit don't want it.

IDW's probably on rather thin ice and is going to wind up with Hasbro either breathing down their necks about editorial control, or ditching them entirely in favour of someone who'll be more willing to bend over backwards to keep the big customer happy. Problem is IDW has enough deals to hand that if they did get canned by Hasbro they won't die off.

Around the same time these companies stop hiring these trendy morons to begin with.

The problem is most companies are still operating on the presumption of "if 10 people complain 1,000 were actually mad at it and just couldn't be bothered to write in to tell us."

This method and thinking is hideously outdated as it's entirely likely these days, thanks to being able to give feedback instantaneously, that those who whinge about x, y, z on social media are the total sum of people who actually do give a crap. This means that sensible companies will turn back towards good old fashioned sales figures as opposed to Mrs Trellis From North Wales has bothered to say in her letter to your complaints department.

If it sells, it sells. If it doesn't. Kill it.
