GOOD.

Here's an article everyone will enjoy:
Top Ten Ways to Ruin your Clickbait Site (You Won't Believe Number 5!)

Who knew that 50,000 articles called "REEE REEEE 50 REEEEEEasons to kill whitey" over and over again wouldn't continue to generate clicks?

You know you done goofed when you make Cracked the Website less successful than Cracked the Magazine.

Damn looks like they got gutted.

I honestly blame Trump for this. They couldn't resist taking the easy clicks for complaining about him and once that started to dry up they had nothing.

This whole scenario reminds me of a very condescending article they wrote many years back about how sorry they felt for Mad magazine (the humor magazine they ripped off decades ago) because they hadn't gone digital nor were they devoting their entire brand to clickbait lists for hipster liberals.

It contained this little gem of a picture.

Whose ship is sinking now?
Good fucking riddance.

I used to read Cracked often. The tipping point for me was when they started hosting articles written by extremely questionable people (the Zoe Quinn and Brianna Wu articles). As much as I enjoyed reading it before that point, I'm now not sad to see it sink.

Don’t know what to say other than their userbase has been warning them this would happen for at least a year and probably longer than that. Moral of the story is unless your site got popular by churning out virtue-signaling down-talking bullshit in the first place, don’t ever switch gears to that because there’s literally only one type of person who enjoys it and you can’t survive off just a fraction of that market and it has no appeal to readers who aren’t fucking crazy.

Cracked the magazine always sucked. It was always, at best, a second-rate ripoff of Mad, to the point they even had that shitty virgin Sylvester mascot as a ripoff of the Chad Alfred E. Neuman.

Then the website version was actually pretty good for a few years. It was pure clickbait from the beginning, but it was good enough clickbait you could actually click around for a couple hours and not miss the time. The height of it was when Seanbaby was a dominant presence.

It really needs to have the name Cracked revoked at this point. I'd settle for it ceasing to exist entirely, but at this point, it should be only allowed to call itself Cucked.

Moreover, that's a market that has no problem viciously turning on you the moment you misunderstand the current party line or try to say "hold on a minute, maybe that's going too far." Even if you please them for a while, they're all looking to compete over who can find the racist aspect of a previously viewed as "woke" thing soonest.

Shortly after the election they published an article about how radlibs in general had no idea what happened because they're so smug and out of touch that they didn't understand why sane people don't trust the democrats, and how we were sick of being told for a decade straight of the terrible things that would happen if republicans won, but when Obama did literally all of those same things the pearlclutchers were nowhere to be found. It was really well-written and for the life of me I can't find it now.

They probably disavowed it after they realized it was talking about most of their staff. I wish I remembered who the author was.

Giving 3 to 1 odds that it got memory-holed.
