Never cared much for Cracked and I never understood their appeal, even before their supposed conversion to politically biased "sjws", and even less after their virtue signalling twattery increased tenfold and it started showing up everywhere. However, one video triggered my Tolkien-loving sensibilities the most though: "6 Reasons Lord of the Rings is Racist"

Cracked said:
Like holy cow dude! He's a whitecisheterochristianmale from a 100 years ago! He's awful!

I remember when I used to read Cracked during my late Highschool years when I was all caught up with homework and decided to tune in. It used to be great if you were into learning random trivia back in the day while getting a chuckle (I avoided the political articles on purpose though).

Seeing it go down like this is kind of sad, but moreso because of nostalgia getting in the way of rational thought. The articles I thought were funny back then don't quite have the same appeal nowadays.

I remember I used to read it quite a bit and it just started getting... unfunny. Then the whole gamergate thing happened and the ONLY place I read about it was cracked, because I didn't give a shit otherwise. But it felt like everything on cracked was suddenly about this stupid topic. Finally they started disabling comments sections on political articles where they were catching flack and I stopped visiting altogether. I don't know if going full sped politically was what killed them but it couldn't have helped.

Here we have someone who approaches a point but then somehow leaps over it.

I just realized, that video where Swaim talks about his struggle with alcoholism is was at better than anything John Cheese wrote.

I've taken shits with more substance than anything John Cheese wrote. I stopped reading that site because of him, before they went full SJW. I hope that unfunny fuck ends up living in a trailer again drinking himself to death.

i stopped going to cracked a while after i joined this site because i began to slowly visit the website as it started becoming stale, and then i started seeing their bullshit in most articles
i still have a thing for the older articles that were halfway decent, but i dont go to their website anymore tbh

I wanna feel bad, because a younger Jangles adored Cracked back when they were just a comedy site with a semi science-y kick and and penchant for lists.
But I'm having trouble doing so, because they were warned about this specifically, by thousands of people, for years.
They were told that publishing pseudopolitical dreck and articles from GamerGobbler has-beens like Quinn or Rani was a bad idea that would alienate the audience who came for comedy to get away from politisperging.
We seek out levity or humor to relax a bit, not listen to yet more hamfisted political observations from some listless 20-something that wandered in from the comments section.
And they brushed it off, said that they had always had a political kick, and that they didn't need to change, we just needed to deal with it and read another "Top 5 Unconcious Sexist Assumptions Inherent in your Praxis".
And we didn't want to do that, so we stopped fucking reading.

You were warned, guys, and you made the Wong decision.

I used to read Cracked for the history and science lists. Really lightweight stuff, for the most part, but they had fun tidbits. I remember laughing at their description of the trial of Pope Formosus' corpse. But I stopped reading regularly around the time John Cheese came in--his stuff was too depressing for me. And every time I came back, there was more Cheese and less fun.

Can't say I'm surprised that they're dying. The clickbait market has exploded in the past few years, and if you can't keep up the quality, you're sunk.
Exploded? It's actually beginning to die.. Mashable selling for a tenth of its latest estimation, Buzzfeed's earnings down to the point of delaying its IPO..etc.

They don’t mean how much it’s worth, but how many of the fuckers there are. Supply and demand, and the supply is so bloated it’s like a dead whale carcass that’s about to explode.

Yeah, I probably didn't phrase that very well, but @neverendingmidi had it right. It seems like there's ten million of the damn things, all curating stupid memes or posts from Reddit or something. The profit and quality might be down, but Cracked is definitely no longer a prime supplier.
