My Asian coworker saw Hoppers over the weekend. In her words, she "absolutely hated it". She said she hated Mabel and how she was rewarded for having no impulse control. She also said it went about environmentalism the wrong way. Lol, not even your target audience likes your shit, Daniel.

I'm a pro-conservation faggot and I hated the main character of Hoppers, too. It was just for the 'stay angry' Tumblr crowd- and I stand by my assumption that any success it had was due to 'lol talking animals' coming right off of Zootopia 2 last year, and nothing else.

Rumor has it that Disney is considering decanonizing the Sequel trilogy

Part of me says this is definitely copium, due to the fact the prequels are more popular than ever and there were rumors of that being 'decanonized' too...
BUT... lmao, Disneyland is de-sequel-lizing its park. And the Disney After Dark events for Star Wars were almost exclusively Original and Prequels... including the cosplayers.
So I HAVE seen it in action already but I don't want to invest too much hope into it.

Watching Fantasia 2000 with my offspring. They like it much better than any recent Disney slop (well the recent ones I've allowed them to watch. Would never let them watch any of the newer 'queer coded' shit.)

It's a pretty cool movie, just one of those films I completely forget about until I run into it. It really made me nostalgic for the 90s pre-9/11 era of American arts culture.

I haven’t made the effort of looking for reviews of the movie, but I could’ve sworn I’ve actually seen some of the Tumblr crowd actually getting pissed because “It tells us not to get mad and compromise with the bulldozing CEOs rrrreeeeeeeee!”

The ending was actually kind of refreshing given the majority of these stories end with le heckin' gov'ment being taken down. I will say that the movie is more entertaining in its wackier moments, especially in the third act.

Sometimes I need to get reminded that there is apparently a Lion King cartoon series called "The Lion Guard" where they just introduce Simba having a son (never mentioned in 2) off having adventures and meeting characters from both movies.

I would say it's flawed in that it's not as good as the first film, and the animation quality is a bit weaker.
However, it's still a pretty good movie that explores the aftermath of Scar's rule and how it affected everyone, even after the Pride Lands recover.

It absolutely makes sense that Simba turns out that way, not just because Scar killed his father, but Simba used to admire him.
He would listen to him and take any advice Scar would give him, partly because Simba saw him as the cool uncle who would let him do whatever he wanted, regardless of whether it put him in danger. And though Scar never cared about Simba, we can see that from their interactions. He still managed to exploit his nephew's admiration for him and used him in his plans to kill Simba and his own brother.

It makes sense that Simba would become overprotective of his daughter to avoid repeating his mistake, especially after the incident with his own father, to the point that he didn't trust Kiara to hunt on her own, even when she was an adult.

The tragic thing is that Scar sought recognition and admiration from others, even tho he already had both from Simba. It kind of exposes that Scar's ambitions were far more vengeful rather than just a case of "wanting recognition", as what he truly wanted was Mufasa being gone, including Simba even tho the cub hadnt really done anything to him besides existing.

I’ve heard good things about Cinderella 3. I haven’t watched Bambi 2 in years, but I heard it was nice to show more of Bambi’s bond with his father after his mom died.

When you make your entire personality being mad at "something", you stick with some self righteous cause that will never be realistically solved (like say "global warming"), thus giving you unlimited ammo for your "rage" for the rest of your life.

I miss when DVDs had those games in general. They were so simple but some of them had surprising amount of depth. It really felt experimental with the freedoms that the new (at the time) tech brought.

Then they got boringly simple later on and Blu-rays never even tried to be interesting (despite being even stronger tech).

Nowadays they have the same complexity you have when you burn the movies on a CD, with all the simplistic menus and all. A true shame.

They say Cinderella 3 is surprisingly decent (iirc, they sort of have an arc with one of the step-sisters actually not being that evil, mostly behaving the way she did because of her mother and sister's bad influence). Lady and the Tramp 2 was a very simplistic gender reversal, iirc, but it seems like it was "ok" for what it was.

I have heard that Tarzan 2 (a midquel despite what the name implies) was decent too, even tho Im not a fan of midquels in general, the basic idea of "this happened during the time transition monstage, guys! Trust us" never sat right with me.

Idk, I personally never got into any of these sequels outside of TLK 2 (it did help it was the only one I had the VHS of as a little shit) ,maybe Lilo and Stitch 2 (I had the DVD) and their heavily mixed reputation really doesnt help.

Guess Im glad they never bothered to give Treasure Planet a sequel (despite already having plans for one)

Edit: Fun fact, apparently Chicken Little was this close to receiving a sequel, apparently they already had some storyboards ready lol

Fantasia 2000

I watched the original Fantasia this year and it was absolutely fantastic especially for a film from 1941. For context, Disney's first feature-length animated movie, Snow White, came out in 1937. Fantasia is genuinely such an artistic movie, I really think that Fantasia movies should be made like 2-4 times a century, so no more frequently than once every 25 years. I can't speak to how popular classical music was when the first Fantasia came out, but I think continuously introducing generations to classical music in the form of artistic music videos is something worth doing. There's so much great classical music that neither Fantasia got to cover, but I think the next Fantasia, when or if it ever gets made, has to feature Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. There's even a version with a narration explaining each section and their instruments, though that isn't the version I've linked.

I'm contemplating upgrading (which is separate from renewing, I won't get the option to do that until August) my DLR Magic Key to their new Explore Key, it's only 25 bucks and I get access to the parks in June and July. And yes, it’s mostly for the Keyblade pins, I’ve gone in too deep into the whole trading pin scene and I’m not about to miss out on the whole set.

And this month's first pin drop went well, I managed to get two of this month's Keyblade pins (this month's is themed to Divine Rose) and a Monsters University-themed pin.

An Extremely Goofy Movie is surprisingly serviceable for a DTV sequel and, while it’s not a sequel, the mickey-centric Three Musketeers DTV film is pretty good.

weird question but do you happened to have an idea of the street price for the Power Rangers SPD Zord pin? the only one of the Disney SPD pins that I can find is the easily-searched one with the logo in big letters, but they also did one of that season's robot which is just a sentai robot posing dramatically with no words to make it easily identified

I dug through PinPics's database and I found this one, it's a 2008 open edition pin from Walt Disney World.

I dug through eBay and I found one listing where it sold for $7.99 after a single bid.

Unfortunately a lot of pins from those days are easily faked, you also have issues surrounding "scrapper" pins (which are basically official pins that never made it to wider retail due to quality issues) also flooding the pin market.

To help counter fakes from being traded Disney introduced a Mickey Icon "waffle" pattern to their pins in late 2008 but counterfeiters caught onto that and mimicked it, said pattern also doesn't do much to counteract scrappers. To go even further Disney introduced a diamond (in reality it's cubic zirconia) Mickey Icon "seal of authenticity" that counterfeiters haven't managed to duplicate just yet.

And here's a fun fact: Disney Cast Members that take part in pin trading can trade for any pin with a "© Disney", "© Marvel", or "@ LucasFilms" stamp on it. Some have their own rules but that's the general gist of it. It's also why you don't trade with Cast Members after a certain point in the day, almost all of their legitimate pins have been traded for scrappers.

The original Snow Queen was very much a weird character. You can both write her as a kidnapper (if she had no reason to do it beyond because she could), a sympathetic villain (in some versions she just wants someone to love her), a woman trying to create the circumstances of healing Kai (if she decided to do something about the shard) or someone trying to take him away from his pain (if she doesn't know how to cure him and he seems to find little joy in life). You wouldn't even need to change the story at all for any interpretation.

It is fascinating in how many different stories you can tell with just the original Snow Queen.

Cinderella 3 is actually good. Its definitely one of their least awful projects. The idea sounds stupid but the execution is pulled off surprisingly well.

Lion King 1 1/2 being their version of Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead is hilarious once you find out that's what they are parodying. Fits with the Shakespeare stuff.

TL;DR - They're shifting the major pin trading "hub" at Frontierland's entrance into being a pin trading space that's more child-friendly and large pin binders that can't be reasonably held in one's hand or placed in one's lap are banned. This doesn't change the way "Pintastic Tuesdays" are handled and special edition pins like the KH Keyblade pins will still sell out the day they're released.

Sounds like they're trying to reign in the aggressive Disney Adult/Autist (is there truly a difference?) that was becoming the main part of the pin trading thing.
