Singer D4vd has been arrested for the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was found dead in Hollywood in the trunk of his Tesla in September.

According to the LAPD, D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested by the Robbery-Homicide Division for the murder of Hernandez and is being held without bail. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they were investigating a trip the 21-year-old took to the Santa Barbara area sometime during the spring of 2025 following Hernandez’s death. A spokesman for the musician said in September that he was “fully cooperating with authorities,” though as of Nov. 18 NBC Los Angeles reported Burke was no longer cooperating with law enforcement.

Officers were called to a tow yard on Sept. 8 following reports of a foul odor coming from the car, which had been on the property for several days. Police found a dismembered body that had been placed inside of a bag in the front trunk of the vehicle.

The car was registered in Hempstead, Texas to Burke and impounded after being abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, where neighbors complained of a rotting smell. As of Sept. 9, the case was being treated as a death investigation.

Hernandez was reported missing from her home in Lake Elsinore, Calif., last year. She was last seen in April 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. After her body was found, police said that because a manner of death had not been determined.

Shortly after the discovery, Burke quietly canceled his U.S. tour and postponed the promotion of his deluxe album.

edit: It looks like the autopsy report has been released, but no idea where the PDF is, since the file number 2025-14252 isn't pulling up anything on the LA county medical examiner's website. It's 26 pages long.

April 22, 2026 – The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner (DME) determined the cause and manner of death for 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez as multiple penetrating injuries caused by object(s). The manner of death is homicide.

Ms. Rivas Hernandez was discovered at 1100 hours on September 8, 2025, in the front trunk of a vehicle in a tow yard in Los Angeles and death was pronounced by a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

A deputy medical examiner conducted an examination of Ms. Rivas Hernandez on September 10, 2025, at the DME’s Forensic Science Center. The cause and manner of death were determined December 9, 2025. A court order initiated by the LAPD previously prevented the DME from releasing its findings.

“After several months, I am grateful this information can now be released, not only to the public, but also to the grieving family enduring loss,” said Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Odey Ukpo. “It is unfathomable they have had to wait this long to learn what happened to their daughter. The transparency of the information contained in our findings and reports is essential for empowering the community to make informed changes to affectively reduce fear and allowing the community to take informed action. Making the Department’s information publicly available is not just about accountability, it is about social justice and prevention. By ensuring access to this information, we strengthen our ability to learn, to act, and ultimately to prevent the next tragic loss of life. I want to extend my gratitude to our partner agencies for taking the necessary step of filing an order with the court to make this disclosure possible.”

  • Celeste's cause of death was "multiple penetrating injuries" with a "sharp object"
    • Two Penetrating Wounds on her torso, including an injury to her liver.
  • On her hands, there were multiple "linear abrasions".
  • Her left ring and pinky fingers were amputated (likely to hide the "David") tattoos on them, but the "Shhh" tattoo on her right pointer finger was still in tact.
  • There were presumptive positives for benzodiazepines and methamphetamine/MDMA in her system.
    • Another screening showed Meth was in conclusive and MDMA was not present.
    • Celeste may have had alcohol in her system, but they didn't lead to her death.
  • When her body was found, it was badly decomposed, with her head was partially skeletonized and an absent left eye.
So, D4vd most likely stabbed Celeste to death, after luring her to his house and drugging her. She was still conscious/cognizant enough to fight back and try to save herself (those linear abrasions were likely defensive wounds).
After committing these atrocious acts, two days later, he performed the song "Afterlife", live on stage at Bandlab's acoustic pop-up event:

When Celeste's body was first found in the car in 2025, he came out in defense of D4vd.


Not once, but TWICE, with fellow D4vd friend, Ludwig (can't find the clip currently).

After the truth became undeniable, he distanced himself from D4vd and pretended he never knew him that well.

The media wants their tearful interviews, the prosecution wants a jury-convincing family, all kinds of lawyers, activists, politicians will throw money at them to make them into characters they can exploit These types are too stupid to concoct the whole grift single handedly.

It's just an awful crime. He was grooming her since she was 11 in discord and began to have sexual contact with her since she was 13 ( I suspect it happened before of that due to some sus message I saw but that's what the police are saying) . He was with other minors too, so he has a preference for very young teens.

He stabbed her to death because his album was going to be released. It was released in April 25, 2025 and she was last seen alive in April 23. He wanted to get rid of her

He cut her into pieces and let her to rot in a hot car.

I think he told someone else to get rid of the body and the other person never did it.
