Idk what took them so long? That would've been my first step if I was waging total war.
No. Really. Why haven't they? Iran threatened to close the waterway if someone so much as spoke harshly to them. You'd think at some point they would have that shit set up to deploy on a moments notice for this EXACT scenario. I know sandniggers are dumb but come on...

Only 14% of their energy utilization comes from oil and of that only about 6-8% of that comes from the strait. They also have a 3 month strategic reserve. Its going to fuck over Korea, Japan and Germany far more
Would love to see how the PLA runs off solar.

35 percent of their oil supply is gone. This is a minimum.

Why are they like this?
Because for the Israeli's, bombing Iran is far more important than the cost of oil going up. It makes sense given the proximity and whatnot but they're going to listen to America since we're the ones who control them and ensure their existence. If you think we don't control them then you overestimate how powerful AIPAC is and underestimate how much of it (in reference to being part of or supporting AIPAC) is just a performance done by American politicians to get money and connections.

The play here is to send the oil prices higher by introducing uncertainty now that the Navy confirmed they are not going to escort ships (the Constellation would have been useful, just saying) This is not yet total war, the metaphorical nuclear option for Iran is GCC desalination plants. There's still an escalation ladder. They'll probably throw a few mines, tell every journalist and show photos, and watch the market move. We'll see how it plays and how resilient global markets are to that, nobody knows tbqh. Could work for Iran or not.

With the Chinese stats, I'm a bit sceptical about only 14% of oil being used in China. Kind of ironic to see China using more coal btw.

thats just the first 2 days, I wonder what we are up to now. Prayers to all those service members and hope they heal up quick and get full VA support, undeclared war is hell.
Wait, why didn't anyone tell me that war was expensive?!

It's an absolute last resort and unlike a blockade of the strait (seriously, guys, it's not "straight", it's "strait") they can't make demands and then cut it out when they get what they want, those mines are there.

I thought the whole navy was already gone?

Guess we are still chipping away at it

They HAVE to get Trump to stop giving updates on this shit, everything he says is wrong, dude went on a 2 hour press conference and shouted that that navy was completely destroyed like 12 times and said we are wrapping up now, just patently false.

Special Military Operation :dislike:Little Military Excursion :winner:

Their major surface vessels have mostly been destroyed or put out of action.

They still have an extremely large force of fast attack craft and thousands of speedboats which while of limited use against military targets could play havoc on civilian shipping in the gulf.

the Navy confirmed they are not going to escort ships
Technically, Leavitt said that there have been no escorts yet, but they're looking into them.
Could work for Iran or not.
It's an absolute Hail Mary strategy that relies on Trump and Israel cracking to the pressure of people screaming about oil prices, but neither has given any indication that they really care. Trump even called people panicking foolish when the prices spiked on Sunday. Mining the Strait would force corporations into looking to real alternatives rather than just sitting around twirling their thumbs. Prices would eventually settle as supply lines are established (Aramco has already said it can get back to around 85% production via the Red Sea in just a few days), and they would have blown their only play with little to show for it.

Trump should say that if any russian or chinese mines are found in the strait he will permanetly ban their ships from using it once it belongs to us. I know that wont happen but it is my based alternate reality skitzo dream.
America keeping total dominance over the most import shipping lane in the world with an enemy living near it and two other enemies interested in it seems really unlikely.

Has anyone noticed a marked change in the flavor of threadshit lately? It’s been an obvious decrease in groyper rhetoric, “I’m not dying for Israel,” and Jew sperging, and has shifted towards people pretending to understand the military and economy to point towards the US being finished.
Holy shit it’s Sami Zayn

Energy isn’t the only thing they’re importing oil for dude.
Opening those reserves to begin with start a chain reaction, so this isn’t going to be 3 months of business of usual, they’ll already be in a full blown economic crisis by the time it runs out. They’re also quite limited in options to fill the gap.

yes their SUPPLY, do we need to do a little reading comprehension?

the stat i provided, and its the more relevant one, is their TOTAL ENERGY UTILIZATION

here is a source from the US energry admin showing 2023 numbers, keep in mind they have been RAPIDLY working to get their oil usage down in the last 3 years

@Super-Chevy454 American stats, they use 60% plus coal
So in 2023 it was down to a 1/5 total and only 60% of that comes from the strait, so its very reaonable to asume they have it down to 12% overall and nearly 6-8% from the strait, just simple facts, the Chinese have not been idiots about this.

CENTCOM Publishes footage of strikes on Iranian naval forces

U.S. forces are degrading the Iranian regime's ability to project power at sea and harass international shipping. For years, Iranian forces have threatened freedom of navigation in waters essential to American, regional and global security and prosperity.

there is a vessel on fire in the middle of the strait of hormuz, all traffic on standstill

Via marine traffic, could be spoofed, it appears a group of large carriers attempted to run the gap transponders on
