well not only that But mining the straight will mean it's not something Trump can just "end" anymore.

People have this misguided notion that Trump could just "stop" and then the straight will go back to normal.

Mining the straight would just make it so that "stopping" just means there's still an extended outage of the straight, they can hope for other countries to pressure Trump into stopping all day but even if he stops the straight is still full of mines and unusable for an extended period, at that point you might as well finish the job and make sure they never do it again.

“Since the start of Operation Epic Fury, approximately 140 U.S. service members have been wounded over 10 days of sustained attacks,” Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement to The Hill.

The “vast majority” of these injuries have been “minor” and 108 service members have returned to duty, according to Parnell, who added that eight service members remain listed as severely injured and are getting the “highest level of medical care.”

When asked about a Reuters report that about 150 U.S. Service members have been injured, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that figure is “within that ballpark” and referred reporters to the Pentagon for more information.

Where have you seen anything suggesting that the US asked Israel to follow US doctrine? Israel and the US are cooperating but each follows their own military doctrine.

Israel notified the US of the planned strikes.


Behind the scenes: Israeli and U.S. officials said the IDF notified the U.S. military ahead of the strikes.

But a U.S. official said that the U.S. military was surprised by how wide-ranging they were.

Yes, the attacks on the gulf states energy infrastructure that totally has not been going on since day one of the war. Iran is completely innocent and wouldn't dare send a couple drones at oil fields. It's almost like all the news articles about Iranians rallying around the leader without a single mention of the IRGC soldiers herding them like sheep if they leave.

I understand freedom of the press and all, but there actually needs to be standards on reporting if you're reporting something that can be dismissed in 5 seconds. It needs to be tiered so small outlets get leeway but massive orgs like AP and CNN get fined to hell and back for pushing out slop content.

This was brought up earlier in the thread and numbers were pulled and it amounts to just 3% of what was spent on ordinance last year let alone this year where the big beautiful bill allotted even more funding to it.

Of the financial concerns that exist in this conflict the money spent on ordinance is least among them because that is a warchest we've been pouring ungodly funding into for years.
