Arizona investigators probing the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, “TODAY” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother, said Monday they believe she was taken from her home against her will.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously described Guthrie’s home as a “crime scene.” She was taken “possibly in the middle of the night and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” his department said in a statement.

Guthrie, 84, was last seen Saturday night in her home outside Tucson. She has limited mobility and needs to take medication daily or “it could be fatal,” Nanos said.

She had no cognitive issues, and her disappearance was not linked to dementia, he added, describing her as being “of sound mind” and “sharp as a tack.”

Guthrie’s family reported her missing around noon Sunday, setting off a search-and-rescue mission that included trained personnel, drones, an airplane, a helicopter, volunteers and search-and-rescue dogs lent from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“I think she was abducted,” Nanos told NBC News. “When you’re taken from your bed and you don’t want to go somewhere, that’s an abduction.”
Nanos said officials believe Guthrie was harmed when she was taken, but they did not provide other details.

“We know she was harmed at the home, but we don’t know to what extent,” he said.

Nanos has not provided additional details about the investigation. He has said investigators “saw some things at the home that were concerning to us” but did not offer specifics.

The community was devastated by her disappearance, Nanos told NBC News.

“This is just really sad for our community,” he said. “Savannah is family to us. She’s a big part of this community. Her family is devastated, the entire family. And you know, this just doesn’t happen in Tucson.”

Nanos confirmed that law enforcement officials are reviewing video from cameras at Guthrie’s home, where she lives alone and employs staff members. He urged neighbors to “go through their Ring cameras.”

Nanos asked members of the public to contact the sheriff’s office at 520-351-4900 if they have information about the case.

“I need this community to step up and start giving us some calls,” Nanos said.

Guthrie is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Her family last saw her at home around 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Saturday. She “is not in good physical health,” Nanos said.

Authorities are not aware of any threats against Savannah Guthrie, who is in Arizona. The FBI is aware of the case.

Monday’s broadcast of the “TODAY” show opened with an update on Guthrie, with co-anchor Craig Melvin calling it a “deeply personal story for us.”

In a statement reported on the air, Savannah Guthrie said in part: “I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support.”

“Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” she said in her statement. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at: 520-351-4900.”

Savannah Guthrie has frequently discussed her close relationship with her mother over the years.
“She loves us, her family, fiercely, and her selflessness and sacrifice for us, her steadfastness and her unmovable confidence, is the reason any of us grew up to do anything,” Savannah Guthrie said in a 2022 tribute to her mother on her 80th birthday.

In a Mother’s Day tribute on Instagram in 2024, Savannah Guthrie described her mother as “God’s first, best and most important gift to me.”

Guthrie’s father, Charles Guthrie, died when she was 16. She is one of three children.

Place your bets, now.

Pima County’s sheriff has said Savannah Guthrie told him she “doesn’t need him” and is using her own hired investigation team now. I cannot even fathom how upsetting it would be to experience LE incompetence on this scale for something so high-stakes.
I think the main problem is the investigation points towards Tomasso and that’s an ugly narrative and makes things mighty uncomfortable for the family. Guthrie is loathe the story to turn into her BIL murdering her mom and I’m sure the family has robust legal representation making it dicey for cops to make one wrong move.

I read a book last year about a 1950’s woman newspaper publisher killed by her Son-in-Law and it was basically hushed up by her family to avoid scandal…and in this case her sons benefited by inheriting, the newspaper and other businesses, and the sister was ousted. It was called Murder on Staunton Road.

In the Guthrie case the only beneficiary financially (that needs it) is Annie and Tomasso, where Samantha gets saddled with scandal tarnishing her almost perfect media image. Samantha becomes known as a tragic victim with murderous family and the trial would be a media nightmare for her. It basically puts her career on ice for a few years and she’s already 54 and feeling like she only has a few more prime career years left. The last thing she needs is for this clusterfuck to kill her mom, jail a family member and derail her career. She’s in a life by the swords, die by the sword situation if her BIL murdered her mom (and that seems the most probable.)

Speaking of that, a 3rd email has hit TMZ. The person is now demanding 50k in BTC before revealing the information, and 50k in BTC afterwards. They claim to be afraid of police, and afraid of "losing their freedom", and want TMZ to act as a middle man between the informant and the cops.
Wow, sounds like an illegal, what a shocker that some faggot from a shithole would use this as a way to swindle money. I'm guessing a Jeet.

This is great: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/ne...nancy-guthrie-lois-gibson-sketch-21349269.php
Some bitch drew a random picture of some random ass mexican faggot

They said they guessed basically 90% of the picture and if they messed up that's too bad.

Bruh... 😂

Maybe of note - Samantha, at the start of the year, went on a break from Today to have surgery on her throat.

It required a few weeks recovery after to rest her voice - and during that break, Today had a ratings increase by 13% and show crew anonymously reported that there was less tension on set with her AWOL.

She wigged out at these reports and worried about "being forgotten" - so she insisted the Today team do a video call on air so she could share updates.

This afternoon, police raided a home and detained 2 people, allegedly a mother and her son, regarding the Guthrie case. Nobody knows if they're detained or arrested, person of interest or suspect.

The majority of the press and hangers-ons were sent on a wild goose chase to another Tucson neighborhood early this evening and missed the arrest.

Wow. If I ever asked my mom to help me ransom an old lady, she’d tell I’m retarded and to get a job.

“Entin says there was no confrontation at the house ... doors were not broken down. He says the 2 people appeared to voluntarily surrender.”

Sounds like they don’t have anything solid if they aren’t breaking doors down and they’re having two people voluntarily surrender. And apparently no in person press conference tonight and just a statement they’re releasing instead. This arrest sounds like a “best guess/matched description” arrest.

I do wonder if the retard arrogant boomer sheriff will try to get a “closest match” for a real arrest and argue that they’re guilty in court if the mother is never found so he can save his reputation. Seems like the type to either believe in his head or wildly guess/assume someone is guilty so long as it makes enough sense to him. I really don’t blame the FBI in this scenario. Outside of the political sector when it comes to actual crimes/murders/kidnappings there’s still decent agents that do good work if they aren’t too tied up in whatever governmental bureaucracy is currently plaguing the bureau. The first time I saw the boomer sheriff speak I knew he would fuck this up though. Ranting about flock cameras really cemented my thoughts on him.

I don’t care how or why this happened but I hope to god when it’s done with that Savannah Guthrie takes on an exec producer role and uses absurd amounts of money to assblast the sheriff in the inevitable documentaries.

HackRF, amp, and improved antenna (directional, parabolic, yagi, concealed in a bag) with high gain is going to make the band completely unusable and will knock a nest camera offline with ease, or just spend the money for something purpose built like what I linked above. It genuinely is not hard.

If you didn’t know jammers existed that could jam 2.4ghz and 5ghz simultaneously (some even will do whatever band GPS operates on too) in the first place I’m not really sure what else to tell you other than take a signals course to brush up on changes from the last 10 years or so.
The portability of that setup is questionable and you’d need to know where the router is. Do know how many 5 GHz channels there are? I’m standing by my statement that portable jammers are impractical against Wi-Fi, especially 5 GHz.

You speak as if you used signal jammers despite having no idea how they actually operate.

Stand by your incorrect statement if you need to, Sheriff

The old dragon's probably a corpse now. Since I heard of this story only 2 days ago and she's still not found.

Oh well.

Please explain to me how a 20 W output device can sufficiently jam out the entire 5 GHz band. And this doesn’t even get into having multiple APs. Good luck jamming them all with a directional antenna.

If the police picked up a mother and son, who voluntarily went with them, it may simply be that the father with the right build and a mustache has disappeared over the past few days so the cops want to question them to see if they can included or exclude the missing guy from the list of suspects.

They cleared the DHL delivery driver rather fast. I am glad they have stopped breaking down doors, and are now going with a more reasonable knock-n'-talk approach.

* Law enforcement were draping curtains around a range rover found parked at a Culverts (store?). Speculation is that they have found Grandma Guthrie's body.

??? Also, on that raid of a house with a woman and two men, one of the men fled and shot himself. EDIT: ??? I would have expected a lot more news about this by now. Maybe this youtuber has his facts wrong.

I think they found one of the kidnappers.

Maybe Anne Curry had Nancy offed. lol. Someone should do a modern All About Eve type story where an aging newscaster has her mother kidnapped to save her fading career by bathing in public sympathy.

Morning show hosts have this ridiculous balancing act to be "America's sweetheart" types but getting to that position (and staying) requires being the most cut-throat, ambitious bitch imaginable. It requires smart, cut-throat women to be good actresses and have sweet, chirpy, personable facades for the cameras. Savannah even had to pretend she was so "terrified" taking on the host role when it was in fact the cumulation of all her hard work and ambition. Unfortunately for Savannah she is well past America's sweetheart age and she well knows how women her age are treated in broadcast journalism. She's been hearing the clock ticking for years. She probably feels like she is hanging on by her claws at times with younger, more popular personalities, eyeing her job - esp if she's already unpopular on set.

I don't think SG had her mom kidnapped for public sympathy BUT I also think she would stonewall cops looking too closely at the BIL because that ending is very bad for her and her career. It remaining an unsolved mystery, or some random psycho gets convicted, is quite beneficial to her career. The last thing Savannah needs is a messy criminal trial where all the family drama gets unearthed. She has gone to incredible lengths to paint her family as the most wholesome American family imaginable and murderous BIL and sister would totally ruin that narrative. I also believe if Tomasso and Annie had anything to do with the murder and were taken to trial they would do everything they could to smear SG in the process - and she knows this.

Nancy is being painted as a sweet grandma, and I'm sure in some ways she was, but she'd also have been a hard driving bitch too (and I mean that as a compliment). A mother, who was widowed when her kids were teens, doesn't raise a major network news diva and fighter pilot by being soft. Nancy had high standards and expected A LOT from her children. The fact the oldest, Annie, didn't fit that mold tells me their relationship might have been fraught or very different from the relationships she had with her more successful children. Im guessing quite a bit of tension and resentment, but that's just my conjecture. I just don't buy they had a warm, fuzzy relationship and spending time playing games together on a Saturday night was the norm. I doubt Nancy was thrilled with her daughter marrying some Italian drifter who needed a green card in 2008 or so. I don't see Nancy and Tomasso having a good relationship but they lived in the same town and probably relied upon her for financial help, which all points to a Son-in-law killing grandma because he's sick of her shit and wanted her money without putting up with her.

SG probably suspects Tomasso but also realizes that him being charged opens up a whole rabbit hole that will torpedo her career and future plans. Her mother's death being an unsolved would be far more beneficial for her careerwise. Suddenly SG is the "go to" for true-crime pieces and journalism because she's experienced it firsthand and understands the victims she interviews. The public would eat it up and "true-crime" is one of the hottest niches for old network media.

Odd timing that all this happened right before SG we due to leave for Italy to be host for the Winter Olympics for NBC.

I'm torn on this.

On one hand, I'm annoyed at all the hoops they've been jumping through and resources they've been throwing around for this case because it's rich old people.

You can bet if your average, non-rich-and-famous person's elderly relative went missing, even with evidence of foul play, it wouldn’t be getting an FBI task force, nationwide news coverage, and a sheriff turning it into his personal crusade.

But I'm also entertained by how they seem to be absolutely fucking up this investigation due to incompetence, the ego of that Sheriff, and media interference.

They even have Kash "See you in Valhalla" Patel making cross-eyed, inaccurate statements to the press when he clearly has zero idea what's going on with the case.

I like this guy's theory.

Home invasion to steal shit. Think they are captured on ring camera. Wake up Nacy Guthrie demanding that she delete the video on ring camera. 84 year old woman is confused and cannot delete any video because she doesn't have a subscription.

They bash her on the head & take her with them. End up killing her trying to get the video deleted.

Think of how much additional jail time they will get for this murder now compared to what they would have faced for robbery.
