Arizona investigators probing the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, “TODAY” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother, said Monday they believe she was taken from her home against her will.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously described Guthrie’s home as a “crime scene.” She was taken “possibly in the middle of the night and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” his department said in a statement.

Guthrie, 84, was last seen Saturday night in her home outside Tucson. She has limited mobility and needs to take medication daily or “it could be fatal,” Nanos said.

She had no cognitive issues, and her disappearance was not linked to dementia, he added, describing her as being “of sound mind” and “sharp as a tack.”

Guthrie’s family reported her missing around noon Sunday, setting off a search-and-rescue mission that included trained personnel, drones, an airplane, a helicopter, volunteers and search-and-rescue dogs lent from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“I think she was abducted,” Nanos told NBC News. “When you’re taken from your bed and you don’t want to go somewhere, that’s an abduction.”
Nanos said officials believe Guthrie was harmed when she was taken, but they did not provide other details.

“We know she was harmed at the home, but we don’t know to what extent,” he said.

Nanos has not provided additional details about the investigation. He has said investigators “saw some things at the home that were concerning to us” but did not offer specifics.

The community was devastated by her disappearance, Nanos told NBC News.

“This is just really sad for our community,” he said. “Savannah is family to us. She’s a big part of this community. Her family is devastated, the entire family. And you know, this just doesn’t happen in Tucson.”

Nanos confirmed that law enforcement officials are reviewing video from cameras at Guthrie’s home, where she lives alone and employs staff members. He urged neighbors to “go through their Ring cameras.”

Nanos asked members of the public to contact the sheriff’s office at 520-351-4900 if they have information about the case.

“I need this community to step up and start giving us some calls,” Nanos said.

Guthrie is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Her family last saw her at home around 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Saturday. She “is not in good physical health,” Nanos said.

Authorities are not aware of any threats against Savannah Guthrie, who is in Arizona. The FBI is aware of the case.

Monday’s broadcast of the “TODAY” show opened with an update on Guthrie, with co-anchor Craig Melvin calling it a “deeply personal story for us.”

In a statement reported on the air, Savannah Guthrie said in part: “I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support.”

“Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” she said in her statement. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at: 520-351-4900.”

Savannah Guthrie has frequently discussed her close relationship with her mother over the years.
“She loves us, her family, fiercely, and her selflessness and sacrifice for us, her steadfastness and her unmovable confidence, is the reason any of us grew up to do anything,” Savannah Guthrie said in a 2022 tribute to her mother on her 80th birthday.

In a Mother’s Day tribute on Instagram in 2024, Savannah Guthrie described her mother as “God’s first, best and most important gift to me.”

Guthrie’s father, Charles Guthrie, died when she was 16. She is one of three children.

Place your bets, now.

6 Million isn't enough to ask for unless it's done by retards, but if they're capable of sending untraceable emails they're not retards. They definitely want the public to know there is a ransom demand and we don't know if whoever sent the ransom note even had anything to do with it, they could just be creating a distraction.
We're probably never going to get a straight story about this if it's something to do the Savannah and her family's history, because the people involved are all inside agencies and the media and are the ones feeding us the details.

Right now, this looks amateurish to me. The guy is smart enough to dress in layers to disguise his shape and face, but at the same time didn't think of what would happen if he encountered a camera.
Except, he did. He brought tools to take the camera from the wall and removed the camera completely. It almost worked too, they weren’t sure if they could pull data from the camera. It took them 9 days and googles help.

If this had been our grandma, they cops would have given up and said it’s not possible.

So far, it doesn’t seem like he’s left a lot of evidence considering the surveillance state we live in.

IMO, they’re searching Annie’s neighborhood because the guy was probably stalking her movement from the dinner party back to the house.

I don’t think he is a bumbling incompetent.

And this is the part of the whole thing that pisses me off.

They spent a whole 15 seconds on a major news story this morning about the El Paso Airport suddenly being closed to all traffic for 10 days.

Then they flipped all coverage to this story of an old missing white woman that they had no new information about.

I don't care one bit about this woman or her family and the MSM is to blame for my attitude.

A perfect example is Matt Lauer getting ousted as a sex pest when #MeToo was happening. Apparently his behavior has been going on for years, but Savannah stayed silent only to throw him under the bus when the social justice movement took place so she could play the victim.
I could have sworn wasn't it revealed either she or Natalie Morales was having an affair with him? Mandela effect. He was the driving force behind firing Ann Curry because he was jealous and bitter that she was popular. Metaphorically she was vindicated when he got the axe and his dirty laundry was exposed. (A fucking button hidden under his desk is terrifying.)

The guy they detained and subsequently released last night said something interesting: they just wanted to search his car. They were all about the car. This tells me they know or think they know what type of car the kidnapper was driving. Based on his eyes and mouth and brows, the masked man in the video is said to be in his 20’s or early 30’s, at most and likely from the area. I’m thinking the man they detained fit that description and that’s why they detained him. They’re looking for a young guy, likely Hispanic, who lives in the area and drives a certain type of car. I think that’s the profile they’re working with, at this point.

I saw some guys on a livestream point this out-

He’s gone to all the trouble of the slick, bad guy latex gloves and layers, but puts the torch in his mouth, covering it in his DNA anyway, which will then transfer to the gloves immediately when he takes it out of his mouth again and goes to enter the front door.

This whole operation is a shit show from every direction; midweek basketball game attending sheriff included.

I saw some show years ago that was very popular at the time. I can't remember if it was fiction or a true crime series. But they emphasized two things about getting away with a high profile crime:

1) Wear both fabric gloves and nitrile gloves (latex at the time). Nitrile alone can leave "latent prints", AKA partial fingerprints that the FBI can run against their databases.

2) Walk with a fake limp. This makes sure that gait analysis from any video wouldn't catch your real gait.

The video seems to show the guy following these tips. He's wearing two sets of gloves from the bulkiness on the video and the outer gloves are loose enough to be over fabric gloves. He's also walking awkwardly on the video snippet released. He's moving very carefully even though he seems to not be in a hurry.

But he doesn't seem to be slick or organized well as you've noticed. Maybe he saw the same show or read those tips somewhere.

How fucking retarded would this guy have to be to throw his gloves out the window of the vehicle as he's driving away? If those really are his gloves, there had to be a 2nd slightly less stupid person planning this kidnapping.

Also, even more likely Nancy died fast because these morons couldn't keep a frail 84 yr old woman alive. She probably died after they tied her up too tightly or something.

Kind of like Alex Murdaugh tossing his wife’s cell phone out the window of his SUV when he’d barely driven away from the crime scene. The authorities bungled management of that scene so badly that it was Murdaugh’s brother who located it for law enforcement. That same brother was allowed to hose down the blood and brains at the crime scene mere hours after the murder.

My point is, there’s a whole lot of stupid going round. Even a smart person will mess up under pressure and especially when saddled with panicky guilt.

Or the fact that he let Paul’s cell phone stay at the scene and that’s what ultimately lead to his conviction, IMO. Paul’s Snapchat video that he was about to send his friend showed Alex was at the kennels moments before Paul and Maggie’s cell phones ceased all activity forever…

Signal jammers exist but they only work on a single frequency. A Wi-Fi router will just jump to another channel, especially on 5 GHz where a handheld device like that isn’t going to have enough power to jam out multiple channels at once.

Notice those hits are all on commercial establishments? Those jammers were probably used to disrupt CCTV, direct law enforcement hotlines, or some other fixed-channel station.
Excuse my sperging. Not sure if anyone else corrected this but this isn't accurate at all.
>but they only work on a single freq
They don't only work on a single frequency. Some do, but using a jammer on two different frequencies is just a matter of the correct antennas and a capable enough signal generator. People in third world countries can make these like legos.
>will just jump to another channel
I've never heard of an actual jammer jamming only a single channel. See the attached pics. What you're describing is the first pic, every single makeshift jammer or jammer on the market is going to do what's shown in the second pic. A 2.4ghz jammer is going to jam the entire 2.4ghz spectrum, there's no empty channel to jump to. Not doing this would make them pointless. Same idea for 5ghz.
>isn't going to have enough power
A handheld device is 100% going to have enough power in a small radius like a rural property. Regardless of band. It isn't difficult. I'm certain I could grab a hackrf portapack and jam that house, the neighbors, and their neighbors if I was determined. I could fit two hackrf's in my pants or a small bag and jam out 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. For 2.4ghz a flipper would have enough power to be a problem, same for any of the portable raspi options, and the commercial options sound like they would be literally unimaginable to you. But with Nancy's house I'm assuming it would only require the 2.4g band with a nest cam being used unless nest doorbells implemented 5ghz earlier than I remember.
>jammers for cctv
Alright if I'm replying to a shitpost then my bad. If not then traditional cctv systems are wired.
>law enforcement hotlines
What?
>fixed-channel station
ok

tl;dr for anyone reading who cares, a signal jammer could be easily used. I don't know what the latest info is from law enforcement but if they got video from Google then I'm going to assume they weren't used, plus the kidnappers seem retarded. Only time will tell if they're more/less retarded than the agencies handling the case but based on how it's going so far it seems like a solid tie.

A lot of high-value businesses have a backup radio link if their hardlines get cut which is what a jammer would be good for. Okay probably not used for CCTV but everything is wireless these days. Banks and shit have direct hotlines to law enforcement similar to how commercial buildings have direct alarm lines for fire.

5 GHz spans a tremendous band and is divided into two (three?) parts. You are not jamming that entire spectrum with a portable device. Be real.

Also the fact they're sending the emails to the media instead of to the police or opening up a line of communication (like using the phone or chat messages) means they're severely limiting the chance they get fucked over by bigtech. That is definitely not an amateur hour approach or something that someone who did this randomly or suddenly would've planned.

HackRF, amp, and improved antenna (directional, parabolic, yagi, concealed in a bag) with high gain is going to make the band completely unusable and will knock a nest camera offline with ease, or just spend the money for something purpose built like what I linked above. It genuinely is not hard.

If you didn’t know jammers existed that could jam 2.4ghz and 5ghz simultaneously (some even will do whatever band GPS operates on too) in the first place I’m not really sure what else to tell you other than take a signals course to brush up on changes from the last 10 years or so.

Interesting that the ring camera apparently wasn't connected to a paid subscription: https://www.npr.org/2026/02/12/nx-s1-5711620/nancy-guthrie-video-footage-fbi
Last week, law enforcement said that the doorbell camera had been removed — and that on Feb. 1, when Guthrie was reported missing, the doorbell camera disconnected. About half an hour later, the camera's software detected motion, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos. But there was no video footage because the camera wasn't connected to a paid subscription, and so the data was overwritten, he said.

I guess this means Amazon saves fucking everything lol

I still cannot fathom what led Luigi Mangione to eat at a McDonalds. Even the slowest McDonalds in a town will have more customers in and out than a cheap convenience store. Way more cameras too.

That being said, this guy seems too organized to be a schizo or fent zombie, but inept enough to not know how IPcams work. Placing your face directly in the path of a camera even with a mask on, was not smart. The distance between our pupils is one of the best ways AI facial recognition can be used to sort people out,
