Mostly TV sperging with a few movies sprinkled in. Nice to know Jay appreciated the new Naked Gun movie at least
I don't know why I watch Half in the Bag at this point when I know how they'll react to any given piece of media these days. The shit they enjoy is always the same quirk chungus slop full of sardonic, nihilistic characters, subverted expectations, and ugly Netflix lighting. Of course they're sucking off Pluribus. I get why they're dunking on Stranger Things but at least it's attempting to convey a sense of sincerity (however poorly it might be executed), which RLM seem to be allergic to.

The video was great. Mike and Jay are making fun of Stranger Things for being woketarded normie slop, and you people are still complaining.

Happy New Year, you miserable cunts. See you in the thread next year for more endless bitching. P.S. Pluribus is excellent, and the prequels are still trash :jaceknife:

I will withhold judgement of Pluribus until I see how it ends. I've been burned too many times I can no longer trust a show or movie series that starts strong to have a good ending.

i am cautiously optimistic but i am also well aware that no man is immune to the siren's call of the giant red button labeled "PRESS IN CASE YOU WANT TO RUN YOUR SHIT INTO THE GROUND"

>Click on The Naked Gun video chapter
>finish it, now the Song Sung Blue part starts
>Mike "Let's talk about Song Sung Blue"
>Jay "You saw it?
>Mike "No but i wanna talk about it anyway"

I really want to go against the recent feeling of disappointment this thread has and give them another chance but they keep proving me wrong.
It's not really a movie i care or even knew about, and i know i am preaching to the choir here, but their lack of interest is rubbing me off. Maybe it's just me who's tired of all this.
I do wonder if RLM fans in other platforms are feeling this lack of trying or if this is just exclusive to this forum's negative tendencies.

Well, the Youtube comments are people making Rich Evans jokes. RLM fans are either sycophants or noticers. The noticers started with Obi-wan and grew from The Acolyte where it was undeniable those shows sucked way more than the prequels on every level.

I feel like the Strange Thing vs Pluribus part could of been a separate HiTB only to hear them shit on ST more.

I'm pirating Pluribus as I'm typing this. The premise sounds interesting enough. Although I've seen tons and tons of movies and shows like that, so I don't expect to be surprised.
I am too, the first scenes I'm like 'this is Contact'. Then yeah you had to explain that some pulse thing would be a new thing, but they didn't babysit it. They're sitting around all talking about this like a normie would see it instead of SETI/irl science people.

Old time scientist goes 'maybe it's an atomic clock signal' like a retard and asian scientist goes no, it's not that because those time signals aren't like this blah blah. Red glasses guy goes 'this is coming from 600 light years away'. then pajeet woman tapping on laptop goes 'no, it's this'. I can't stand when shows do this talking down. Contact was bad enough with it.

Then again this is probably aimed at dumb millennials that think the earth is flat still.

The main thing scaring me is I hear it's a slow burn. I like the concept, I like the acting so far and the look. But long endless hour long eps that stretch to 9 1 hour eps is a chore usually.

ETA: I'm early for sure on this, but I don't want this to be like Walking Dead where they had awesome early science building explanations, and then never touched on it again. I had a bit personal connection to Walking Dead 1-7 seasons and it's hard for me to really invest into any series since.

I'm going into this with some spoiler for sure knowledge, so that kinda sucks these days.

I can tell right away why Jay likes this, the wild overblown lighting and colors. He loved the Susperia remake which this reminds me of.

I like that too, not super dark and bland and flat.

Yeah, you know, I was thinking about this a lot the other night. I was going through my quarterly "RLM catchup", specifically the Christmas or Chance episode, and in between stewing in quiet MATI about how much I hate Jack and how, despite having not watched an episode of his in at least a year now, I am if anything even LESS willing to tolerate Jack than I used to be, I was trying to remember when it was that the broader, non-Jack aspects of RLM lost me too.

I'm pretty sure I remember what it was, although I don't remember the episode, and I didn't realize they'd lost me at the time.

It was some time back, maybe one of yinz remember this episode and if you do I'd appreciate some help here, but it was a show or movie that Mike and Jay liked, and were giving a good review for, but then Mike cuts the review off by saying something to the effect of "it was great, so I stopped halfway through, because I knew where they were going with it and didn't need to watch anymore". A sublimely stupid, uniquely lazy piece of reasoning that caused much Noticing in the comments, iirc.

The next episode of RLM I watched, I actually stopped it halfway through. Because I knew where they were going with it, and didn't need to watch anymore! Teeheehee, funny funny right? Felt like I was lodging a silly protest vote and laughing alongside my surrogate friend simulator series.

Only... it didn't stop. I kept zoning out at around the halfway mark. I kept stopping the videos and walking away and saying to myself, oh, I'll finish this later, but never did. And I was having more fun that way too. Why the fuck am I watching this? I dunno. Just stop. Just walk away.

I don't know if I really care enough anymore to bother analyzing the series and work out why it is, I think, that RLM has lost its magic, but the stuff I'm reading over the last dozen or so pages here sounds pretty convincing. And I'm glad I'm not the only person Noticing, even as I'm sad that one of my favorite YT series for the past fifteen-something years is losing me.

Oh, and speaking of Jack:
The shit they enjoy is always the same quirk chungus slop full of sardonic, nihilistic characters, subverted expectations, and ugly Netflix lighting
There were two main issues I had with Jack in that in Christmas episode (three if you count his fat Portland bicycle-enthusiast look now).

The first was his general, predictable, Jacklike faggotry. He's always the first guy to let you know how heckin' uncomfortable it makes him when 80s Action Movie Director does something heterosexual; boobs, YIKES, amiright y'all? And yet I was also able to predict, verbatim, his "ironically" thirsty reaction to a scene featuring naked old man ass. None of this is really new, and these days it seems like every one of the guys is pulling a Jacklite gimmick too, but it definitely reinforces why AIDS Moby has long been my least favorite recurring character. Even lower than Josh, who I honestly just feel bad for, and genuinely want to see succeed despite the total lack of charisma, shit hipster band, and very clear pedo-garage vibes.

What I wasn't expecting was Jack's little "I'm a nihilist" speech, towards the end of the episode.

First, he's not a nihilist. He clearly cares about things and has strong, hierarchical opinions about values and moral worth (which he will happily voice on any topic, from immigration to topless blonde women to the ethics of cuckoldry I'm sure).

Second, of course Jack would be the kind of asshat to proudly declare himself a nihilist, then act like it's merely some vibe. "It's about finding the beauty in the meaninglessness of everything!" Yeah, ok Jack, whatever gets you through your wife's next Somalian Healing Massage, I guess. Nice moustache by the way.

Anyway, Happy New Year, Kiwis. Sucks to think about, but maybe this will be the year I finally stop watching RLM altogether.

Jack is a weird person. I don't necessarily mean that pejoratively. I mean he's literally unusual.

I don't know every detail of his biography but the subtext is that, I think, he existed in rural isolation until surprisingly recently (like well into the 21st century). He told Rich on Pre-Rec that the first computer game he played was The Orange Box and I think the implication is that he never used a computer until about that time (2007!).

So the upshot is I can forgive his eccentricities because he lived like an Amish and only emerged from the jungles of rural Wisconsin, naked and trembling, during the Obama administration. He doesn't know how to live as, as they call us, 'the English.'

This is in contrast to Josh who, as far as I know, had a normal upbringing and has been integrated into industrialized society all his life. He's just an asshole.

I really want to like Pluribus, I think the first… 4 or 5 episodes were absolutely stellar, but ever since we had that mostly silent episode centered around the South American guy I find myself pretty bored and having a hard time continuing the story. I’m halfway through episode 8 and can’t be bothered to watch for more than a few minutes.

I think it’s still great TV but so fucking slow.

>Jay "You saw it?
>Mike "No but i wanna talk about it anyway"

And if you'd watched it you'd have heard all kinds of interesting insights into Milwaukee and local happenings and Mike's completely unexpected story about a guy who was fucking murdered by ISIS, but no, all this thread is these days is malding over Gen X'ers.

Hahahah. My main issue with Jack is that he acts like a woman whenever anything C R E E P Y happens onscreen. I think he must've procreated by accident.
Can you please explain this term to me? How is that supposed to be an insult? Is it generally accepted among men to look down upon other men who have been cursed with baldness? My hairline is fine, by the way.
