Whether or not they kill the game afterwards, is the real question.

There's a few paths they can take:

-A New Age : Nasu steps down, lets his subordinates make their own story and they'll be notably different from what Nasu does.
-Rerun Galore : The fate of so many other gacha games where they just rerun events like nothing and release new characters and that's it. Only the pure will remain.
-Game Killed : Aniplex pulls the plug and as Ross in Stop Killing Games has pointed out repeatedly, you had just wasted your money for nothing. At least the voice clips and art still exists so you can make your own unofficial continuation ala Battle Moon Wars
-Don't Forget, You're Here Forever : The game continues on and on ala DC and Marvel. New stories, new shit until we start hitting levels of absurdity we never seen. Thankfully, there's still tons of stuff in the Nasuverse that hasn't gotten focused on. Like Dead Apostles and other Types.

Of course, all of these can happen or just one, maybe two. Still. 10 years of playing a mobile game. Where does the time go... which is appropriate seeing this game was all about jumping between points of history and unfucking it like Dr. Who if they brought an army with them... I'm hoping this doesn't run into the same problem as the Current Year Dr. Who at least.

I was crying so damn much in the final battle, so much kino. When the ending started I was bawling.

This was my team. And guess what? I GOT FUCKED. Bazett doesn't work like normal in this fight, normally her NP is activated no matter which action or NP the enemy takes, but not this fight. She would only have 1 NP hit instead of the 2-3.

In the end I had to use two command seals but King Hassan gave the final blow.

Jesus, this made me cry so damn much, with just the visuals since I am waiting the translations. But that ending song, hit me like a truck.

I said before it's probably not gonna be eos because I think it was a week or two ago they already confirmed to have content planned up till next year, which is why they went out of there way to confirm Goetia would be the one servant without a valentines scene.
It will probably be a bunch of seasonal events for awhile, some people think well get a strange fake collab next year, assuming the anime actually comes out.

Honestly, if this IS EoS, at least they went out on a high note.

I can admittedly believe it might be EoS solely off of FGO's age and it being hilariously outdated in comparison to the modern Gacha. That said if they go the route of "Open World Gacha Game" a la MHY, I'd play that shit in a heartbeat as long as it's not on a 2 year gap again...

Strange/Fake actually got its shit together as it has a plan for a 24-25 episode season

That being said, it is very likely FGO will continue as some loose threads do linger, but I think some of Nasu's subordinates will be doing the heavy work while Nasu goes back to play FromSoft games, and then maybe work on Red Garden/Mahoyo 2

Holy shit it's done. The question is if there will be a free official/fan version, or Ross will be proven right once again and the game shutsdown and only youtube LPs are left of it.

I'd be happy to hear how it ends, from what I read online, it ends with the universe getting reset to a stable version. Doesn't sound very fulfilling, but maybe I'm missing context.

I wonder if Nasu will write normal VNs again. Also if it does get a sequel will it actually compete with Mihoyo dominance in the market.

That and the ending is Mashu and Guda meeting despite having no memory of each other apparently. But we'll truly know once it shows up in NA... in 2 years.

As for writing normal VNs, I actually hope he does because the Nasuverse has a ton of stuff he can work off of. Maybe he'll finally write that church centered one seeing how much of a big player they are... also it helps that there's hardly any anime and manga the centers on the church in general unlike the mid 2000s.

That being said, FGO at least fulfilled that niche in his creative writing as a dumping ground for ideas that he couldn't work as a stand-alone... such as the 3rd faction in Fate/Apocrypha. Rather curious if there is anything next for FGO at all. But if it does shut the fuck down... I fully expect some Nip to take the Battle Moon Wars route, use the voice clips to recreate their own FGO. Actually, I'd be game for an FGO maker.

It's a cliche ending but works reliably enough in letting the viewer feel like everyone got a better life without previous baggage (except Olga Marie that probably died in a car crash five minutes before that image).

I don't know if it's a good idea, the Nasuverse really morphed over the last decade into overly convoluted thing. At the very least the whole multiverse shit that started (ironically) with Fate Extra should be laid to rest. It's too much of a series escalation when you need to worry about your reality getting randomly eaten.

Ordeal Call actually set up this feeling of loss quite well, this was a battle that couldn't go without consequences.

What we did over all these years was to excise all lostbelts in favor of PHH, the moment it was revealed that out own world was also a lostbelt. It wouldn't be fair to all other worlds to just ignore it and let it go. We had to clear it, even when all our memories would be lost and we would lose some companions.

This idea of "it was a reset ending" is really simplifying what really happened. This was very in line with all other bittersweet moments that the characters had to go through in his other works.

Tomoe Enjou in Kara no Kyoukai, Bazett and Angra in hollow ataraxia. I feel these endings and the idea of meeting and parting that FGO always touched upon.

It is a bittersweet ending, even if someone only remember 5 minutes of it, it was worth it.

That reminds me, what exactly happened with FGO arcade? last I checked the servers are still online, but they haven't updated anything in over 2 years and have been slowly removing cabinets across Japan.
I still don't believe this is EoS, but when it does I kind of think this is how it'll go out, left completely dead for multiple years with no new content.
Does anyone have experience with other gachas going EoS, because just by looking around a game either dies in 2-3 years, or goes for almost +15 years like Kantai Collection or Puzzle & Dragons

Games going EoS is a matter of whether or not the game is profitable and/or the company likes it or not. Got a couple of experience in this.

>Mega/Rockman X-Dive : Had a solid and loyal following, definitely half-assed in plenty of its implementations but the gacha was very merciful and the PVP mode was a dead joke. Clearly cheaply made and doesn't take much to maintain. Only EoS when Capcom noticed it and gutted it since for the longest time, they nursed a grudge against Infaune and like a scorned ex, burned it the fuck down.

The EoS was announced, the game was still playable, you can buy shit (warned you that you're supporting a dying game) and once the date hits, game is offline, cannot login anymore.

Thankfully, the game didn't get killed like many live service games and exists as a game you can buy off of Steam with the gacha elements gutted.

>Madoka Magica Mobile (Global) : Kept on running for a few months after EoS and after that, plug is pulled. The game still exists in JP if you still want to play it.

All in all, its rough to see a game you spent time in become inacessible. All those times you spent on in it gone. Kind of like an arcade you played for ages in suddenly become a corner market with the arcade cabinets just removed entirely. Gonna be rough if FGO does EoS because it would mean that FGO NA is fucking dead in the water. And I really don't see Lasengle + Aniplex consider to make an offline version like Megaman did. Cause if they did, I'd buy it immediately.

TL;DR: Ross is right yet again. We need to stop killing games.

They finished the main story and added a few part 2 servants but it is on maintenance mode. They announced years ago that no new servant would be added but you can still play the game there.

this is EOS as far as I'm concerned, I'm not playing 2 more years to have my entire journey thanos snapped. I'm extremely MATI
Good thing that you just don't need to play like mad then.

It is a story game, the focus is the story and even the items you get, you use to further strengthen your servants.

Then you have people doing events and lottery events getting hundreds of boxes for which reason? Why would you farm 500 boxes when someone who did 40 will get to the same place as you?

My main account is my JP account and zi have infinitely more resources there than in NA. In my NA account (200 days old), I just beat Avalon le Fae, I used this very event to finally 10/10/10 my main servants, HOWEVER the core of my team and strongest units are the free event servants and I got to LB6 with it.

I know I will be fucking blasted soon with harder battles, but the game give you so many tools to advance the story that has a quite leeway to advance the story.

And this comes from a veteran from 2015 and a trie F2P player who never spent a cent in the game and in my NA playthrough is playing with story supports only.

One last thing the makes me think its not quite over, Mash is still at NP4
All of her ascensions, skill upgrades, and NP upgrades have been tied to some main story chapter, so there might be a little bit left to go.

This might sound a bit crazy, but I think where gonna get a new player character with how it ended. And who knows maybe by next year we'll be able to summon (you) since at this point the only TM main characters that aren't playable servants are Shiki Tohno and both versions of Ayaka,
and Gun God but Angle Notes is so obscure at this point I wouldn't be surprised if even Nasu forgot it existed

This is true. There's plenty of servants in the F2P pool that are very useful. Even grail them to make em even more useful. Gameplay grailing is a thing.

Then there's also the fact that the game rakes in tons of cash as well. Its difficult to get people on board in general so cutting it down is a terrible deal for Lasengle. That being said, the possibility of EoS is still there.

Also, there's tons of stuff in the Nasuverse that Chaldea can still take on as well.

To be quite honest, If the game ends here I am fine and content with it. If it continues, we don't need another story of saving the world. I would love more events that fleshes other older characters and so on. Characters that are missing and so on (Violet, Perseus)

You know the very few rare chapters where we fight on Holy Grail Wars like Heian and Paper Moon? I fucking loved those, if we get more of it without us being in the center or to save the world, it would be alright to me.

The scale doesn't need to be bigger, I just want them to continue the game without a bigger plot involving the whole world.

Tbh, I'm glad I got out of the hell that is fgo. To this day I'm not entirely sure how I managed to slog through all the way to Camelot, where the story became actually decent.
And hey it seemed to be going all uphill from there! You had Babylonia, Solomon, Seraph, Shinjuku all back to back chapters ranging from good to fantastic I'm terms of writing.

And then out came Agartha, Shimousa and Salem with first one being on par with Septem except without the mercy of being short, and the other two being ok at the absolute most.
Then part 2 came out and the opening is great! Anastasia is great! And then Göttermandung comes and is a massive step down from the quality of the first chapter.
Then S.I.N comes out and that's pretty good! Then India comes out and is a big nothingburger.

Point being, I couldn't take this schizophrenic writing style anymore. Lostbelt 6 and 7 were the only good sequential chapters and even then not if you count the main interlude.

And when paper moon came out and showed signs of being the same downard dip in writing I just said fuck it and left.
