Happy birthday to Storme DeLarverie! Wikipedia is posthumously soft-pooning Storme DeLarverie. All her pronouns have been replaced with they/them.
"her website". I don't think that a woman who was in her late 60s when the first website was created had much of a hand in a website created 5 years after her death.
Speaking of 5 years after her death, the evidence that Storme was nonbinary? A friend of hers (who 100% buys into all the gender shit) off-handedly said, 5 years after Storme's death, that she was non-binary.
She still used she/her pronouns for her and seems to think of non-binary as the same thing as gender non-conforming, and every other person who knew her uses she/her pronouns, but our intrepid Wikipedia editor, Taylor Lane thinks that this proves that she was nonbinary and used they/them pronouns.
How else do you explain the fact that she never announced that she had a female gender identity? Taylor does admit that she called herself a woman, but that's not conclusive: "A source where Stormé refers to themself as a woman does not mean that that is them stating a gender identity." And even though Lisa Cannistraci, Taylor's only source for soft-pooning Storme in the first place is on record using exclusively she/her pronouns for Storme, that's also not sufficient evidence because: "She's a cis woman who will not always get the language "right."" Meanwhile, Storme said she was fine with people using any pronouns they want for her, so that means that Taylor is actually totally justified in spending months urging (and finally enacting) the switch to they/them pronouns.
(I don't think the IP is Taylor, but I do suspect it might be a friend since they both got this obsession with they/themming Storme at the same time)
As much as I roll my eyes at nonbinary girls, I actually have sympathy for the young ones unlike full-on pooners. If you are a gender non-conforming girl in a remotely nerdy space then you are going to be facing a lot of social pressure to not identify as a girl, and it's a lot harder to resist a gender neutral identity. I do not have this same sympathy for actual full-on pooners because that's a far more active rejection of reality while theyFABbery just seems like not embracing the reality of biological sex.
