None of these blackwashers seem to understand that this argument is ultimately self-defeating. Yes, there is a large canon of white characters in media and literature. Most of them are from older media. Older media that doesn't necessarily jive with modern Progressive sensibilities. Do you really want some white kids from the 'burbs hero-worshipping the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, a man who glazed the Ku Klux Klan?

Mhm. Now give me a modern minority character that's actually interesting and isn't done for the sake of a diversity quota. I'll take watching a Hallmark movie done with a budget of a $100,000 than be told to care about the latest black disabled transbian because I heckin' have to. The 2020s was the decade where representation truly became less about actual representation and more of setting quotas. Maybe people won't get so antsy about minorities in media if y'all bother to give them more characteristics outside of them being a minority. Maybe focus on giving them character and having the audience see them outside of what skin they so happen to have?

No? Then too bad. Random comedies that so happen to have black people back in the 90s/2000s had better representation than modern attempts. You know why? Because the color of their skin was the least of everyone's priorities.

There were no attempts at doing "white people bad, minority good", and whenever whites were joked about, it was just that—a joke. It wasn't an actual jib toward the race themselves. When was the last time you saw a piece of media where multiple races joked about each other? Nuh uh. Too risky for the progressive audience! Let's play it safe as we do with making fun of Christians and just focus on the white people jokes!

I've seen this drama and they all deserve each other. Jayce doesn't look like that and Viktor's leg does need a full brace of some sort - but I've seen scores of people get away with not drawing it, including several Russian artists. However, these same artists will turn around and draw Jayce like some raging, hairy caveman beast with Viktor being the tiny white vagina owner. Those artists are still insanely popular and have not been cancelled. Hell, one smut artist drew him without his aid at all - and you know what these people did? Nothing. They just commented on the profoundly large male genitalia. I've posted another, LoveisintheAIRA, who made Jayce so pale the White Pharaoh was darker than him.

That is to say - all of these people deserve each other. They're the same ones complaining about trans men being drawn like womanly tradwives (friendly fire) to being the people who went after Luna for not drawing Genshin Impact yaoi. I guarantee you the other artists saying it's ableism are the same ones who draw it themselves.

The art is okay. Neither here nor there. I've seen far worse; the Korean Tarzan artist is still making art and many people who draw him like an animal (like the one in my earlier post) are still getting fans. It's selective outrage. The Purple Jayce artist is still making art.

Some of the alternatives they are proposing is a third party website that lets them cross post on BlueSky and Twitter, because they barely get views on BlueSky. Another is "Glaze", a program that basically makes your art so grainy AI can't scan it. They're doing this over a new feature that allows AI to edit their work.

If I recall correctly, there's hardly, if any, of those kind of drawings that aren't just as a way to get something or someone to agree with their personal political opinions. It's not a subject of "character not agreeing with bad mindsets" and more of "this character I have an autistic fixation for will agree with every political or moral opinion I have and I believe they do because they're the good guys and did not like when the mean guys did bad things." Even if it's done in good faith, from an outsider's perspective, it just looks like you can't formulate an opinion without a 2D character being on par with it.

The "worst people you know" aren't the ones sending those images. It's people who're exhausted of others (mainly Twitter/Tumblr/Reddit users) using fictional characters as scapegoats for complicated issues and problems that requires more than having said fictional character be used as a local mouthpiece. So, no, you being used for a leftist's political self-pleasure session aren't being criticized by terrible people. It's done by people who want characters like you to stop being a leftist's political self-pleasure session.

If you have to use a fictional charcter to try to describe your political beliefs as a whole, you need to have your phone taken away, be put on a list, and locked up in some padded cell and given occupational skills therapy until they can find something you can do that actually helps you grow the fuck up and contribute properly to a future saner society.

Forget the hamfisted stretch marks, the fact that the artist doesn't know those aren't meant to be teeth, but a cephalopod beak*, is making my skin crawl. There are times where "too much detail" is a fair criticism, and this is one of them. It's just so "realistic" it borders into uncanny.

*Inklings and Octolings, like actual cephalopods, don't have bones, not even in humanoid form. What looks like "teeth" inside their mouths is just their chitin beaks surrounded by muscle.​

This also begs the question. How much POC representation does there have to be to the point where one can argue "There's no reason to change white characters black or brown anymore because we have reached enough rep in media"? Me thinks never because I truly don't think these people really care about it as much as they claim and just use it as an excuse to bully and harass people on the internet.

Yeah, some of these are the same people who saw Red having both a Chappell Roan and Wicked poster in her room and concluded that Matt and Trey were hinting at her being a lesbian.

I know I'm replying to my own post but I wanted to add more to this. I know these people pretty much take over and brigade spaces by claiming "This activity was always queer" but I must point out how it doesn't help the fact that animators have a lot of social justice queer types in it and they have a habit of queer baiting these fans by sneakily putting in some openly gay artist poster or trans pride colors in background shots of a character's bedroom. Big example of this was when someone put a "Protect Trans Kids" poster in Gwen's bedroom in the Spiderverse movie and because of that ONE poster that's easy to miss, many people online believe Gwen is trans because of it. Personally, the fact that the creators never came out and admitted that Gwen was trans makes me believe that there was no plan to actually make her one and it was just some animator sneaking in their annoying headcanon into the movie to try and move the writers into making Gwen trans if it got a lot of fan feedback to convince them.
