Sidenote kinda related: I had a friend who was desperate to looks androgynous yet no matter what she tried she just looked like a masculine woman.

I had one, too. I knew she was a woman, but seeing the way she changed her dressing style and cut her hair boyishly short kind of intimidated me at first in the political climate and I didn't want to start a fight by using she/her on her all of a sudden because the last time I saw her, she was dressing like any normal woman. However, I also thought she'd be triggered, too, if I asked her pronouns because that'd be like ASOOOMING DA GENDER YOU SEXIST, HOMOPHOBIC, TRANSPHOBIC BIGOT. I ended up taking the risk of asking her pronouns in a way that won't anger or intimidate her, and fortunately, she is still she/her like a normal person.

I usually look over people making sexuality headcanons with characters but is it me or are people scrapping to the bottom of the barrel to prove a character is gay to the point where liking a certain activity (and ignoring the fact that said activity is popular with women in general) makes you queer coded? Example, this user is claiming the character Red from South Park is a lesbian because.....she likes ice skating? I don't know how popular ice skating is with "queer" women but even if it is, do these people think that no straight woman loves ice skating? Its not a LGBTQ exclusive activity that only they like. Sorry for rant, but what is with these people and turning every activity into this "queer coded" thing? Do these people think straight and non trans people have no activities they like doing? Again, for all this talk about how "Cis straight people wont ever understand queer and trans people" these people don't seem to understand straight and non trans people.

What's queer with guiding your friends and family of the same sex to stop them from falling down and hurting themselves at the skating rink? Seriously, that's like saying boys doing greeting hugs or kisses (normal in some cultures) are gay. They are sexist.


Also, the gender headcanons are definitely a fetish and self-insert thing. Artists like that just want to insert themselves as the characters and draw men with vaginas or women with penises as jerk off material (though men with vaginas are far more common than women with socks).

You see, the problem is first believing these people ever cared for straight people in the first place. These are the same people who think going on experimental hormones is life changing gender affirming care so the barely-holding-on genderspecial can delude to themselves and the world they're truly a scientist's gift to the bank. Yeah, some of these are the same people who saw Red having both a Chappell Roan and Wicked poster in her room and concluded that Matt and Trey were hinting at her being a lesbian. I know Roan herself is gay and Wicked's author did admit that Glenda and Elphaba did have a relationship in the book, but just because someone likes them doesn't automatically make one a lesbian. I have two cousins who love Wicked and both are too young to know anything about sexuality. Even still, they love the movies because the relationship between the two leads reminds them of their own sisterhood.

Speaking of Chappell Roan, it'll never not be funny to me how these people interpret small things as having "queer undertones" when none were there, and yet if you dare have your own interpretation of a queer artist's art, you are not understanding the "true" meaning behind their art. Case and point here where this person is complaining about how straight people are interpreting Roan's song wrong and "erasing" the real meaning behind these songs. Thankfully though, some comments were calling the user out and saying some of Roan's songs can actually be relatable to straight people even if the song is about her lesbian relationships.

If I recall correctly, there's hardly, if any, of those kind of drawings that aren't just as a way to get something or someone to agree with their personal political opinions. It's not a subject of "character not agreeing with bad mindsets" and more of "this character I have an autistic fixation for will agree with every political or moral opinion I have and I believe they do because they're the good guys and did not like when the mean guys did bad things." Even if it's done in good faith, from an outsider's perspective, it just looks like you can't formulate an opinion without a 2D character being on par with it.

Suddenly, this character who has no knowledge/understanding of sexuality and gender now does! Now they're lecturing YOU on sexuality and gender!

Suddenly, this character that doesn't even know what Palestine is knows where it's at, why it's happening and now they're lecturing YOU on killing Zionists while advocating for Total Hijab Appreciation!

The "worst people you know" aren't the ones sending those images. It's people who're exhausted of others (mainly Twitter/Tumblr/Reddit users) using fictional characters as scapegoats for complicated issues and problems that requires more than having said fictional character be used as a local mouthpiece. So, no, you being used for a leftist's political self-pleasure session aren't being criticized by terrible people. It's done by people who want characters like you to stop being a leftist's political self-pleasure session.

I have featured this artist here before. Some of her pieces have great composition and shading, but the times it doesn't hit - it doesn't hit. Androgyny is a much more fickle beast than anyone gives it credit for; I've seen many people posited as being truly androgynous (Tilda Swinton in Constantine comes to mind as a very well-known example, as does David Bowie) but the fact of the matter is that birth sex reigns supreme. Androgynous doesn't mean sexless, after all.

Now for a bit of a lore drop: this comic was made by Sage Cotugno (formerly known as Sabrina Cotugno), who is an annoying theyfab who writes a webcomic called The Glass Scientists in which Dr. Jekyll is reimagined as an effeminate homosexual in an interracial relationship accompanied by a pooner sidekick who turns into a werewolf and, to top it all off, Dr. Frankenstein is depicted as an elderly woman for some reason. All in the year 1886. It's just as insufferable to read as you might imagine it is based on this premise, but the art is nicely done and, to Cotugno's credit, the comic is finally on its final chapter (many webcomics never live to see their stories conclude, so this is a rarity).

What's funny is that when the comic began a decade ago, Cotugno seemed happy to just be an odd little lassie who simply liked herself a wee bit o' fictional lads snogging one another. But only a few years of watching her peers - as the webcomics scene is absolutely infested with TiFs - slowly transition has clearly had an effect on her, and now she's out here shamelessly admitting that her yaois lead her down the garden path of poonery.

I don't know why troons 'n' poons admit so readily that they transition over fictional media, especially erotica. We seriously need to bring back bullying because if someone tells you with a straight face "Yeah, cartoon porn made me take steroids and cut my tits off!" then you should be granted complete permission to roast them until what they've really transitioned into is a pile of ashes.
