Is it REALLY that serious?
I cannot believe how some people take roleplaying so seriously, yet fail to act in character in the world.

TLDW: a streamer enters a Red Dead roleplay server, sees another female streamer and kidnaps her, female streamer loses her literal shit and blames him for HER reaction.

Roleplaying in video games is a joke in and of itself. It's probably why we have mopping in GTA V.

So, Red Dead Online was left to die for GTA Online AND GTA VI only for GTA VI to be delayed again for another year. Don't tell me they don't have the resources, because they can regularly update a ten year old game AND adjust player interactions with RDO to abide with their current code of conduct.

if there's a crew working on it, its a skeleton crew doing bare minimum work to keep its remaining players from abandoning it completely. how big a rockstar games skeleton crew is? no idea, but definitely more than 10 people.

I think saying they needed to focus on GTA VI was just an excuse. It was never going to last much longer than it did because it just wasn't generating the money they wanted.

Sweet. Now do Red Dead Revolver.
Revolver is already on PS4/5 through emulation and backwards compatible with Xbox. Switch 2/PC port extremely unlikely. I wish they’d update Red Dead Online beyond monthly events of recycled content but,

Somebody noticed the video count from the Rockstar Games channel went up, but there was no new video. People were speculating that it was trailer 3 for GTA VI. I guess this announcement was the unlisted video turned public.

Again, the definite way to play Red Dead Redemption is the Xbox 360 version because it still includes the multiplayer and is backwards compatible with modern Xboxes.

Meanwhile, RDR1 is still better.
Man, how they fuck up so much with a sequel? The first game is right to the point and that's phenomenal.
RDR2 was better for geographical variety and being My Pretty Cowboy simulator, but it also had woke aids in it. John Marston is a far more compelling character, as is pretty much any side character, than the RDR2 caste. The dialogue was very theatrical in a good way.

John I completely agree with, but I disagree with the notion that the RDR1 side characters are more compelling than the RDR2 ones. I found Micah, Charles, Rains Fall, and funnily enough even the Trapper to be that more than any of the side characters from the first game.

And it's not that I dislike the side characters from RDR1 either. It's just that I don't find them, or their stories as interesting.

Why did they not just delay the original RDR remake from last year? I have zero interest in playing it again. While I'm glad the first game went from impossible to play on Playstation to everywhere is nice, but no RDR2 remake still is crazy.

Landon Rickets was an interesting fellow, but the rest? Either lame or just a 2d stereotype, like the two Mexicans fighting it out over who gets to fuck all the peasant girls or the coked-up, Indian-hating academic with needle tracks all over his arms.

Have to agree, most of the side characters in RDR1 weren't anything to write home about: Seth is a loathsome creepy skeleton man graverobber who is the treasure hunter driven crazy by his quary trope personified, basically like Ahab from Moby Dick. Irish is funny but his entire character is that he's Irish and he's a drunken layabout. I did like the Professor and Nigel West Dickens along with Marshall Johnson and Landon Ricketts, but the second game definitely had a better supporting cast.

I mean, I agree that RDR1 characters aren't complex or anything but I think they just *work* for a cowboy video game.

I think that is one of the reasons Undead Nightmare worked, and any sort of Undead Nightmare 2 wouldn't have worked.

I wouldn't call RDR1's story awful or bad by any stretch, but I think the ending really props it up as a piece of excellent writing in a lot of peoples minds. Didn't Dan Houser even make it a point to say that he thought "the end" of RDR1 was some of his best writing but not really the rest of the game?

The big problem I had with the end of RDR1 is Jack was the one truly innocent character in the RDR games and he ends up committing a cold blooded murder out of revenge. Everyone else in the RDR or GTA games are complete shitbags at worst or people who do awful things to survive (like hook or steal) or somewhere in between. Uncle, and John die to give his family a chance to get away and Jack just throws it away. It makes sense, but it feels like such a downer ending.

Well, Revolver started with Red seeing his parents killed onto his quest for revenge against his family's killers. I know Revolver isn't canon, just food for thought. It's a cliche for a reason.
