Collaboration then becomes a pain-point because they can't take all the credit for the team's success, which leads to lying about their role in said team, like mald does. Every exercise in teamwork for them is predicated upon how they can benefit from it in some way.
An easy way to pick up on this(and Mald definitely does it) with people is when they repeatedly explain different situations involving a team, group, whatever over time. It could be for school, work, a fucking dungeons & dragons game, doesn't matter. They explain they were part of a team, talk about what they did "I did" "I figured out" "this happened to me" and so on. Maybe you'll hear a "We did" because that still includes them. There's never a "The other guy added" "Someone contributed a thing" "Bob and Steve did this and that". They never actually describe the team effort, they can never think of anything productive/creative/cool/whatever that anyone else contributed. Now there's a difference between someone describing something they did in a group once and detailing their contribution, but if you repeatedly hear them only refer to themselves and never anyone else? Narcissist.
Mald never actually discusses what his defcon team did, because he likely did fuck all and paid no mind to anyone else.
He rarely mentions co-workers at Blizzard, every brilliant thing that he was involved in was almost entirely just about him.
He barely acknowledges the translators and other people that have helped him with his game, and the only reason he does is because he can't take credit for 100% of the work.
He speaks more about the ferret rape dungeon as if he's actually doing work there, he has employees(one of them is his pooner) that do everything for him(this is his "we").
His stupid shed to mushroom farm conversion with the shit concrete pour and wiring is all him, because he doesn't realize it was an awful job.
He probably didn't do a damned thing for the broken mailbox other than to bitch about it and have one of his employees fix it(do those look like arms and hands that could fix a 4x4 post and re-bend a metal mailbox back into shape?).
He doesn't even refer to his community as "you" when he's speaking to the people in chat, it's always another "we" even though it's his mods doing the work to manage it for him.
It isn't even always because they think they were the only ones who contributed or did anything, it's just that the thought of other people never crosses their mind, let alone any details. And there's always some group thing you'll eventually get stuck doing for school or work and everyone in it sucks and you end up doing all of it. But that's not every damned time.
