I would say it is probably pretty standard still today. At least internally.But this can ALL be debunked by literally pointing to any game with hostable servers. Halflife, quake, doom, ect.
The only issue is hoping the advocates can illustrate these SIMPLE facts for the EU idiots to understand.
HONESTLY if these are their starting arguments, I feel confident as shit...IF we can get enough signatures.

I would imagine that due diligence when you build a hundred-million dollar piece of software that you always have alternatives.
In case Amazon changes its pricing model, or sunsets a service, so that you can re-deploy or migrate to an alternative.
That is just due diligence when you build something this expensive.
I would also imagine that they already have, possibly with significantly reduced functionality and featureset, versions of the game that runs locally without any of the cloud services.
Or they are building a game that the developers can not just spin up and do quick manual testing locally? Really? They build this huge complex piece of software and they can not spin up a slimmed down instance that runs locally on the developers laoptop? Lol, that is a laughable concept.
