If we are speaking on Paper Mario, Super Paper Mario easily killed the side brand with the numerous complaints of how bizarre it is and how fans hated there being a story.
What? That’s the complete opposite of what happened. Fans were torn on the more simplistic action-platformer gameplay and character designs, but the story was the one thing that most people liked. If you’re referring to Miyamoto’s “not enough people talked about the story” comment, that was always misleading. He complained that no one went out of their way to talk about the story in a survey that didn’t even ask about the story in the first place outside of a general free-form “what did you like about the game”.

And you know what’s especially insidious about that specific survey? Club Nintendo launched in the US+Australia in 2008, well after SPM’s release. That means from the moment it launched, anyone who signed up for Club Nintendo would register all of their Wii and DS games simultaneously. A couple weeks later, those people would receive post-release surveys for all of their games simultaneously, which they would rush through as quickly as possible to get their coins. They might quickly rationalize answers for the multiple choice questions, but anything that would take more than ten seconds was answered with a generic “this game is fun”. Analyzing feedback from those specific surveys about things that weren’t even explicitly asked in those surveys and using that feedback in any serious creative decision-making was one of the dumbest fucking decisions Nintendo could have possibly made.

The good news about them selling a new pro controller is that XBX has proven that my old one is pretty much dead. Not drift but it is stick related, they need to be manually popped back out after you click them in.

Edit: Lol, but it won't work on S1, will it. Well shit.

I do like how people are all ‘Iwata would never do this’

When this is what happened with the 3DS and the U. It’s not that Nintendo would not do this, it’s that they tend to course correct quickly if real dire.

And then you remember it’s over a decade since the 3DS and U came out and a lot of the people mad probably weren’t around or paying attention back then.

IMO the Wii U was not overpriced but people really forget that the Wii was a barely upgraded GameCube sold for $150 more, and $50 more than the launch price. For almost the same hardware overclockrd with waggle bolted on. Or that the DS was priced way more than any Game Boy.

Yamauchi would never do this.

Maybe not overpriced but it certaintly was too expensive, hence the price slashing. And bundles

Nintendo has done this a lot.

You can expect them to do so with Switch 2, likely in time for Christmas. Exactly like they did with the Switch.

It feels like a lot of people are acting like this is a Christmas release and not in the middle of the year.

And with how much the Swutch 1 sold, however Switch 2 sells it will not sell as well.

I haven't been hearing that. What he would have been doing is jamming the mouse shit into every single game and calling it the Mouswitch.

Edit: which, incidently, is where I want to send all the koopas.

Yamauchi would make it weak as shit to keep the price low. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing depending on your priorities, but his shtick was utilizing old tech in new and innovative ways while making sure it stayed cheap.

I don’t think the Switch 1 ever got a price drop, even temporarily, unless it was some weird retailer-specific thing. The most they did was temporarily bundle a game for the holiday season, as opposed to something like the 3DS where they started preloading every system with Mario Kart 7 by default.

To be fair, getting anything to sell as well as the Switch 1 would be a challenge. I don’t think Nintendo would be too upset with the Switch 2 being the 3DS to the Switch’s DS.

I moreso meant everyone is screaming about how this will do terrible while not really factoring in how stupidly well the Switch 1 did.

I'm probably part of the minority here, but I actually thought the non-Fludd portions of Sunshine were actually the weakest part of the game. Mario is so god damned slippery that he'll fly off moving platforms even without my cack-handed assistance.

Game is comfy overall, though.
The movement is definitely a bit more slippery. Sunshine's aesthetics remain the comfiest though.
Fitting for a mixture of Italia and Hawaii. Mario even got arrested. More evidence of Nintendo allowing their golden boy to get dirty back in the day.

Super Mario Eclipse was a legitmately good game. Try it if you have not!

My apologies if someone’s already made this point, but I didn’t see this direct evidence brought up in previous posts.

Switch 2 game prices—at least, in the US—check out to me. If anything, Nintendo games (DLC not withstanding) are getting cheaper, with DKB lagging behind the perfectly adjusted ~$80. I’m not saying everyone just magically gets more money as inflation occurs, but for Nintendo… yeah, I get why the prices are going up. The USD has lost a significant percentage of its value.

Please elaborate on your viewpoint as the yen has only gotten weaker against the USD.
