I don’t know anything about osrs other than that the community votes for updates. Does jagex add new quests locations and weapons to osrs or do they just do bug fixes
they add pretty much anything. quests, raids, bosses, gear etc and its all polled for the most part. the tranny shit is not voted on for obvious reasons and is just put into the game despite the ire of the community.

They're in the middle of developing a continent called Zeah and they recently released a massive southern portion called the Kingdom of Varlamore. The area also has related quests and content. I'm not certain how much if it was polled since I started playing Old School again just after its release.

Edit:
While I'm at it, I would like to point out that as of today, August 30th, that it has been two weeks since chronic Twitter X user Mod Ash has posted something.

Hmm..... I wonder if this could be abused. Mod Ash is only following his facist homo programming to the letter in the most smug and arrogant fashion.
I can imagine something like a troll coming in and trolling Mod Ash on twitter, challenge Mod Ash to ban them with some other poor shmucks username on runescape intentionally plugged in and "misgendering" trannies, and Mod Ash just being the inufferable PC NPC that HE is falls for it. I can see something like that happening so trolls get rid of competition or just for laughs on runescape or just out of spite for the victim player and Mod Ash as well as troonscape as a whole.

Goddamn 446.6K posts. That's insane.
If I'm remembering correctly his reputation as a support person is that he's one Jagex's top guys ™️ since he responds to basically anyone directly asking him any question, no matter how inane.
I know his reputation as a dev is positive. He's done really nice QoL updates like Rune Pouch presets.

I do not think Brighter Shores is even trying to be an OSRS killer. It is a completely different kind of game.
A point and click multiplayer RPG with focus on skilling, british quests, and PVP sounds like Runescape to me. Just a more updated version of Gower's vision, which of course likely excludes raids and todt. If the majority of OSRS players are farming cox and tempoross, or just so attached they're okay with paying WOW prices for a Java web applet, Brighter Shores won't be a Runescape killer. But I think it'll put a dent in Jagex and their chinese overlords, especially if they keep doing anti consumer shit under the presumption they have no competition in the online medieval woodcutting genre.

I've been watching and he still hasn't posted anything. It's been three weeks now. You can just scroll through questions and comments to him and none of them are being answered by Ash. I find it funny that no one else has even noticed his absence.

There may be a chance that he might actually be working on the Herblore mini game (I just want my fucking aggro pots and prayer regen pots already jamflex) and or any other big content that’s either coming or going to be announced this weekend (Sept 7th)

But yes REALLY strange to go dead silent after saying you want to ban people for misgendering (which you can’t even really do? Cause if it’s a MTF tranny they’re gonna be a female character in game)

List will be updated as the live event goes on

Own notes: bro what the fuck are they thinking with these amplified weapons?

The whole bit for the private servers thing dragged on and I was going to kill myself but they are adding Segregation (read community) servers finally people can fuck off to their own server (can’t wait for the future of grooming of OSRS)

I liked almost everything about the OSRS Wildywurm except for the Amplification stuff. Project Zanaris has a ton of potential and I'm excited to see how it turns out.

I like the idea of a world a boss but as soon as you say wildy AND make it a FOMO boss nah sorry cringe pass, there’s a good Reddit post rn trending about the slippery slope it would bring.

Also this lmao
(Seriously is there no mod untouched by the sin of greed)

I like Manked he really seems to understand that the one thing Osrs has been missing (previous to his hiring) is mid game content to transition people into cox/toa and more importantly tob (by having people exposed to mechanics like pray/gear swapping), because everytime I hear them fucking say “get more people into end game content” I know that’s code for “we want more people doing ToB”, Literally Araxxor update was 2 or 3 Bis ToB items for new learners

Idk about the private servers it’s a niche thing that’s gonna take awhile for someone to really autistically make a good game mode but even then that hype evidently dies off I feel, unfortunately someone’s gonna make an ERP server so y’know maybe we can get some OSRS drama in the future that way maybe.

If I remember everything correctly I see everything passing but wildy boss (and personally I don’t like the amplified weapons either it seems RS3). Also cool to be getting an enrage boss where you can gamba your loot (Jagex adding more Gamba content? Araxxor has a gamba) and more quests always welcomed because they are the best kind of content the game can offer.

Oh and obviously hyped for the mobile updates, fucking menu swap, tile markers and npc highlight gonna be some big game changers for
me, solo cox might not feel as spastic as I won’t miss my clicks as much anymore

I am so fucking tired of shit being added to the Willy for no other reason than to act as PKer bait. I don't see PvMers asking that PKers be forced to fight mobs, but it's totally fine to expect PvMers to deal with fucking PKers.

Not going to be fucking worth anything anyway considering the boss is unlikely to pass the poll.

Yeah saw he made a reply somewhere, words don’t mean much when you wait a whole day to pass to make a statement when you already can see the writing on the walls for your project to fail. 😂

PvP seems doomed for Runescape, every "wilderness rejuvenation" just adds more content to bait non-pvp players into a dangerous region for massive rewards compared to content in non-PvP regions, fair PvP content like the duel arena and LMS become bot farms or dead on arrival because there's no walking loot pinatas to soypog to in your PK'ing compilation, and deadman mode has been a consistent yearly fuck up with some clan or individual finding a way to cheat the system.

All of this content is only really visited and used by a small fraction of the community if we don't count the bots, so the interest just isn't there for it when you compare that content to similar content in safe regions. PKers will often cite the viewcounts that PvP content gets as a reason to keep it around and to keep expanding upon it, but there's a pretty big difference between playing and watching the content; it's fun to watch dota 2 for example, but hell if I'm going to touch that game.

Almost everything you've said here can also apply to EVE Online. Assholes in the big Alliance Blocs act like their shenanigans in NullSec is what keeps the game going, but player population counts and surveys have shown that actually, the vast majority of EVE's playerbase stays in HiSec. It's fun to watch alliance war replays on YouTube, but actually playing through a big war when time dilation's active is a SLOG. It's fun to read about CODE ganking miners in HiSec right up until you realize that them "harvesting miner carebear tears" for years on end wound up gutting the economy and crashed it, causing everything to go up over 3x in price.

Any game that has PvP as an option should take care to not try and make it the sole reason people play, because the hardcore PvP sweatlords are always a minority, no matter how loudly they shout.

It's not even true considering the success of restriction-locked ironman accounts on Youtube. The supercut of Swampletics with 12 hours total runtime sits at 5m and McTile sits at 2m. That's without even getting into separate uploads.

Like the last part says, ya I genuinely enjoy seeing pk vids where someone gets a 100 to 0 stack out in a couple of ticks but when that happens that’s in A REAL PVP scenario(pking at edge or the ge on PK worlds), the wildy is almost always the pker vs the unwilling participant, the guy that gets to come in with a full inventory vs the guy just trying to do content that’s located in the wildy and has to use his supplies for that content as well for when pkers come along.

That or it’s just big clan comes and fucks your day up

EVE Online is one of those games that I enjoy reading about but actually playing it seems like it's almost a full-time job. And I never had understood why PKers in OSRS are so loud about wanting more content in the wilderness to attract non PKers when everyone who isn't a PKer knows the wildy meta and just doesn't bring anything valuable with them anymore. Do PKers even get anything out of killing people who have no interest in fighting them, have no weapons and nothing of value to take?

It can be. If you just want to log in, fly a T1 Frig/Destroyer/Cruiser and run NPC missions, it won't be that hard. If you're like a younger version of me and you're running a Carrier in LowSec in corp vs. corp warfare, yeah that shit is a second full-time job. It's fun for a while, but there comes a point where (at least for me) you realize you're OP as shit and fighting other OP as shit players isn't as fun anymore and killing rats while doing planetary industry is more fun.

Same shit as EVE Gankers in HiSec fucking with some noob miner in a Venture*.

*the Venture is a cheap-as-shit Mining Frigate that honestly resembles a forklift. It's retardedly simple to use (you can literally fly one as soon as you create a new character) and a lot of noobs will fly out in one with some Tier 1 modules fitted to make some boring and hopefully safe ISK. Which entices asshole HiSec gankers to try and fuck with them and screw their day up because they think making a new player mad/ragequit is funny and gives them street cred in the PvP world.

Said HiSec gankers are also deathly afraid of engaging in actual (read: mutual) PvP and you'll never see them fly out to Low or NullSec to fuck with someone like me because all they know how to do is run a Catalyst with Blasters and facemelt unarmed and unprepared players before CONCORD shows up. They'll never try to fight someone like me (in an Ashimmu) who can zero out their capacitor, webify them and scramble their warp drive, and then blast their ship and their pod in less than 45 seconds. And on the off chance I *do* have some idiot ganker try to fuck with me in HiSec while I'm running a mission fighting NPCs, they're usually blasted by beam lasers before they even have a chance to close to their blasters' optimal range.

TL;DR - the average PKer in Runescape is the same as the average HiSec ganker in EVE: They're shitty little wannabe trolls who don't realize that actual PvP players find them an embarrassment, while PvE/passive players find them a nuisance and wish they'd just play another game.
