TL;DR - the average PKer in Runescape is the same as the average HiSec ganker in EVE: They're shitty little wannabe trolls who don't realize that actual PvP players find them an embarrassment, while PvE/passive players find them a nuisance and wish they'd just play another game.
Has there ever been a game with PKing that isn't guys with tiny penises trying to stack the deck as much as possible to gank people who can't defend themselves?

I've been playing VidyaScape over the last week or so and I gotta say: seeing all the racial slurs and racism in the Global chat kinda feels relaxing for some reason. It's like a protection prayer that wards off all the Current Year shit.
What's the player count and interaction like? I'm kind of interested.

/v/scape regular here.
Player count fluctutates between 15 and 45 on a regular day. Highest I ever saw was 80 something but that was because I held a big ass drop party.

Interaction wise... it's a mixed bag. You can summarise the community into a few groups:
  1. Players that just do their own thing and ignore everyone else.
  2. Players that shit up global chat with slurs and edgy boy content.
  3. Players that seem genuinely schizophrenic, but are tolerable.
  4. Players that are absolutely insufferable and get shit on.
In all seriousness, if you can tolerate people saying 'nigger', 'kill trannies', 'gas the jews' and other shit like that, you'll do fine.

Sounds exactly like OSRS to me, but if you were allowed to say nigger of course

Basically yes. If you just focus on the Global chat it's the same kind of inane psycho-babble that usually shits up a 4chan thread. Then you ask if somebody can trade you some runes or help you with Shield of Arrav and you get some totally normal dude helping you out. Even a couple of requests for Pest Control or Barbarian Assault.

So yeah, mileage varies, probably mostly based on time of day. You're not completely alone, but you don't have to be a social butterfly.

Feels like I am back in middle school (No I will not give Jagax money stalker child).

The dumbest part of the way Wrathwyrm was handled is that a periodic world boss in clusterfuck multi-way wilderness is the exact type of thing that should just be a gigantic loot pinata of alchables, but instead it's BIS PVP spec weapon upgrades. Naturally.

The disaster that were Zombie Pirates scared them away from that, despite the fact that the drop tables that they were given would've been fine if it was on any kind of creature that didn't go down in one or two hits. So we're instead getting a massive worm with weapon augments that totally won't be another voidwaker situation, where something built for PvP potential ends up being a BIS item for PvM.

Thankfully we don’t get the worm.

Honestly I’m fine with where voidwaker sits pvm wise currently it’s only really good on older content where bosses were locked at having 255hp at max, but then we’re also supplemented by just having really high defenses. Even with a LB youre still waiting 1:15 for another VW spec to come up, which yes when you’re using it at GWD and waiting a long time you usually have a spec or 2 up again depending if you have LB(but also I live with ironman tinted glasses so I really don’t know how VW has effected the economy of bosses where it’s BIS spec)

But back to the worm/world boss it’s hard cause I want a world boss but technically the wildy feels like the best place to put it still just because if it’s not there then it’s just feels more like shooting stars but a boss (or breaches from DMM). But ya the spawning system is retarded and not very RuneScape, RuneScape you kill the same mob over and over till you’re spooned or dry, this mob does not represent that at all.

We're getting worms one way or another, be it the next poll or whenever they're able to invent a creative way to integrity change it in.

Despite the record breaking negative votes on the poll, they're going to do a revision [youtube mirror] where it no longer has the timed, limited spawn mechanics. Also there's now going to be a variant of it in the desert with defense focused rewards, probably to be polled in the same question with the wildy one just to bait people into voting for more "PvP" content.
Some murmuring about more surveys too, this time they're going to ask for usernames so that they can filter out non-pkers. (approximately 1:03:20 is when they start talking about this).

I hate the Euro mindset of "change things around and re-vote" and/or "lol fuck your vote we're doing it anyway"
Jagex is capable of making a good game. All they have to do is add shit people want and not add shit people don't want. Determining which is which is incredibly simple due to the polling system. Hallowed Sepulcher? Fantastic addition to Agility. Shades of Mort'ton rework and QOL improvements? Most excellent. Honestly the reason why proposed updates pass so often is because the devs actually play the game and generally know what would make the game better without changing the feeling to be too alien from what the playerbase finds comfortable and fun.
When something like Wrathmaw fails with barely over 50% approval while most things on the same poll pass with over 90% approval, that's a sign that it's a shit idea. The JMods need to keep their egos in check and realize that not every idea they pitch is a good one.

So they really think there’s that many people that like Pking? Like in groups yes I personally do, always enjoy doing some soul wars or castle wars, because they’re safe deaths, most people will do pvp if the deaths are safe because it’s pretty natural to want to fight someone in a game for the good old sake of saying “I’m better than you” the amount of times I randomly /duel people in WoW was always a fun way to experience PVP.

I’m basically saying remove wildy, I get that, but seriously no one likes dying in pvp, not the loot piñata, not the pker that got anti pked, not the learner pker that is losing more than gaining, but if you want people to PK safe deaths are the only thing people really enjoy… fuck being an iron just reminded me there’s literally pvp dungeons and the boxing ring in pohs, that as I remember as a kid ALWAYS had people pking.

There’s potential for good PVP in OSRS they just aren’t going at it right, they need to get preset loadouts into the game and just make it so you can queue world wide for pvp content and you’ll have more pvp content (on YouTube).

What they could and should do is make PVP deaths indistinguishable from deaths to npcs in the Wilderness. When you die, you respawn and can collect your gear from Death or at a specified location in Edgeville. Most likely, a graveyard. When you get a kill, you earn tokens that can be spent at a reward shop. There should be limits on how many you can collect in a day, they should be non-tradable and you can't collect tokens from the same player for a specified amount of time. That or to be eligible to obtain a token from a player, that slain player must have participated in Wilderness PVM and skilling activities for a certain amount of kills and/or experience. What will be in that reward shop? Anything from PVP supplies to cosmetics to tradable skilling resources and maybe even high risk drop enhancers that increase the odds of collection log items from Wilderness enemies and bosses but you're marked and lose all of your items to the killer if you die while it's in your inventory.

What does all this do for the Wilderness? PVM players can freely do what they want in the Wilderness and all they risk is the time running back to whatever content they were doing. If two players wanted a resource like a Slayer monster or something, they could simply attempt to bump the other player off to eliminate the competition for a short time and gain tokens for rewards in the Wilderness PVP reward shop. PVPers are still incentivized to run around and be a general nuisance to absolutely everyone. Activity in the Wilderness would generally be. and this is the purpose, CHAOTIC.

But that's just an idea I pulled out of my ass. It'd be better than wasting development time on something stupid like... pronouns. I still have not touched Runescape since that update and have no intention of playing it at all.

Oh yeah. It's officially been more than 1 entire month since terminally online Jagex Moderator Mod Ash has posted on Twitter X. There are still tons of players talking at him non the wiser for his absence.

Sorry for double posting but I just saw this in GE chat while High Alching:

Runescape Pajeet Feet Cropped.png

Anyone wanna see Indian woman feet pics? Bonus points if you have a scat fetish.

Edit: MS Paint Cropping Failure

Nope but it's hilarious! I've been contemplating @ing Null to ask if his sources could shed some light on whether or not he got slapped down internally at Jagex but decided to just keep tabs on his vacancy.
