What genre molds? It's a run-of-the-mill wish-fulfilment fantasy and another take on the 'noble savage'/'evil colonialist' tropes, riddled with more tree-hugging nonsense than whatever Greta Thunberg ever stood for. The only people who flock to Gargantia are coomers who are into 12-14-year-old girls - no wonder, because the character designer mostly draws hentai. Only the robot was cool.
The robot was a total bro, and I liked the hero having ridiculous tech that's better than anything else, yet still needing to acclimate to society. I don't remember anything tree hugging besides general coexistence or talking about colonialism, like the humans exist by not messing with the jellyfish but it isn't portrayed like the jellyfish are right or natural part of the world. I's definitely not something as bad as Eureka 7.

What's a really good long running series to throw on my server? Either one that las little filler, or makes the filler enjoyable and interesting?

Ideally dual-audio, as while i prefer subs the other people in the house don't

I enjoyed it because it was an honest introspection on Japanese culture. There's a reason it was more successful abroad than in Japan: it hit too close to home.
Watamote is just diet Welcome To The NHK, I know you said we'd have to pay you $10,000 an episode to watch another anime but if you really wanna see something that is brutally honest about otaku culture, inceldom, neets and degenerate porn addiction then watch that. The dub is pretty great if that helps and the conclusion is something you've said on stream multiple times.

Welcome to the N.H.K. was said already but Otaku no Video (a 2 episode OVA/Documentary on otaku culture) is an interesting look into the culture of otakus during the 90s. Also I think it's all on Youtube but I don't know off the top of my head. It feels like a time capsule of the culture at the time period and I think its interesting even if you aren't an anime fan.

Anime is kinda like those gold panning businesses where you can pay to sift for gold as a tourist thing. It's 99% sifting through hot garbage and dirt but there's some real gold in there too although very rare.

I still think Legend of the Galactic heroes is right up your alley.

Based off a book and not a manga
No fan service.
entirely classical music ost.
Entire show is framed as a sort of history lesson.
actually thoughtful and interesting examination of empires and democracy's.
At one point it turns out that the space Jews were the real enemy.
It's only an anime in the most technical sense in that it's an animated show from Japan.
If I had a million dollars I'd make you watch the whole show.

I have absolutely no idea why the cult of tranime will respond to any mention of anything related to anime (even "I absolutely detest this faggot shit and weebs should kill themselves") with recommendations. I will literally never read your recommendations. If the post looks like a recommendation I just skip it.

I can't really blame people. Not only is Watamote bad, it's "literally me" yuri.
As far as introspection into Japanese culture, there are much harsher, stylish ones.

I'm going to stick my head in and interrupt just to say: finished Good Night World last night. The only joy I got out of it was mocking the godawful characters and laughing at how little the author actually knows about computers. It takes itself way too seriously, and it's ending makes me angry because it's just blatant sequel bait for a trashy anime that doesn't deserve one.

The main cast of characters are also the dumbest fucking people in existence, takes until the last 2 episodes for another character to state outright "you retards were always a family, you've been a family this whole time in your retarded MMO" because the main characters are literally too fucking stupid to connect the fucking dots on their own. The "villain" is fucking stupid too. It's supposed to be a rogue AI, but by the end, it's a computer virus/thing thats doing supernatural demonic shit and "infects" everyone into a virtual world with a "virus" that spreads through fucking wifi and cellphone signals. It's a kind of premise a tech nerd like me can't suspend my disbelief for because all the technical shit is just outright wrong and fucking retarded, the fucking main character even threatened to super hack somebody "because I got your IP kid!". No, I'm not fucking joking.

2/10. Watch it with someone and go in with the intention to mock the shit of it. The writing is piss poor, the characters are extremely unlikable and the plot makes no fucking sense at all. It's only getting 2 points because it was fun to laugh at.

Currently watching Uncle From Another World. One episode in and it's already a much better experience than GBN, genre difference be damned.
"Ah, I remember my first love."
"Who Uncle?!"
"Sonic and Tails."

"Dude, you shouldn't disparage meth until you try it."

4chan/a/ mentality of "they probably have dogshit taste because they didn't watch this series that appeals to my specific dogshit taste".

Can't find the original post (this is close enough), but Japanese anime audiences value escapism to such a degree that we will get 1000 more "loser high school student (or neet) gets isekaied to harem world and lucks into god powers" stories before we get more like Watamote and Nagatoro.
Wasn't there an anime theatrical film rerelease in the 2000s that caused a bunch of people in Japan to start incel posting since it was about teenage romance?

That’s basically my reaction to fat women bitching about their life choices whenever you watch a 20 minute Chantal video with ongoing commentary and the FUPA Cam.

It’s partially because you admitted to basically watching Moe Slop from 4chan during the 2007-2011 era. You also like A24 slop and play Map coloring games. Simple as, retard.

Otaku no Video has tons of references to classic anime, which I found pretty cool. I also liked its intro in the style of old super robot anime. The lineart is up on Animeigo's website. I wish they had drawings for the control room, but it's nice we got exterior drawings for the Gunbuster-esque robot.

Seriously, can't we just accept Josh hates anime? It's not hard, he's just gonna destroy that 50-60 dollar blu ray if you send it to his P.O. box.
