Just watched Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3. Part two is leaning into dumb comedy rather than the original's tongue in cheek. Especially funny for farmers, in the beginning one guy even laments how taxpayer dollars were spent to transition Angela.
Part three's gone into pure campiness, which is fine, it was fun if a bit more boring. I liked Angela's memory from part two when s/he gets the award, which is a totally different recreated embellishment of the scene with none of the actors from part two. (Good sticking to continuity with the Camp Rolling Hills t-shirts.) Sadly in part three you can really tell the censorship in strange cuts to the violence. The films were shot back to back, but this is not like Back to the Future or Lord of the Rings. All the money was spent on part two and part three is cheap as hell. Surprisingly never even mentions the transgender stuff.
Part three features a cast so multiracial you would think they were the Burger King Kids Club. Special props to the black dude who always listens to his 'rap' tapes which is just a Casio keyboard demo mode on infinite repeat. He's also got headphones down around his neck which he never uses even though people keep asking him to turn his boom box down.
Part two is very excessive especially pushing the boundaries for topless babes and fake sex in an R-rated movie. Part three ... also lots and lots of tits.
I'm not sure if I could classify these sequels as horror, as there is absolutely no suspense or fear. Just goofy tranny killing spree. The opening sequence in part three really takes the cake-- Angela runs down a girl with a garbage truck and skinwalks her for the rest of the movie.
