You can definitely tell their best eras were the late 90s-very early 00s, then the Adventure Time driven early 2010s, so priority was given.
Mid-to-late 2000s CN was also close to being kino, but then shit like CN Real happened. Still, it did give us gems like Ben 10, Flapjack, Lazlo, Chowder, Class of 3000 and mostly Canadian imported shows such as Total Drama and Storm Hawks

The 2000s as a whole is a pretty overlooked decade for CN. The Network had a really strong run from 1996-1999 given the big six Cartoon Cartoons came out in that time. Then you have the 2010-2013 run, which was another high point. 2000-2010 was mostly filled with good shows that just cannot compete with the two timeframes besides exceptions like Samurai Jack, Ben 10, Teen Titans or Total Drama.

Billy & Mandy and KND always feel like they are in the shadow of the first Cartoon Cartoons, never gaining the same traction as Dexter, PPG, the Edd boys or Courage. Hell, Johnny Bravo is probably better remembered. The only one on the roster that feels worse is Cow & Chicken, but I wanted to complete the OG so I added them.

Then we have Foster's and Camp Lazlo, which are in a worse position than B&M and KND. They are liked, but sort of just exist in a sense. Then after them comes Chowder and Flapjack which are even more overshadowed.

The 2000s had good programming, yet felt like it could never escape the 90s for whatever reason. I think those initial 6 were just so god damn strong a line up that it killed everything the network did after till Adventure Time really carved out a new type of cartoon. If anything, the 2000s had the biggest selection of popular action series since they differed greatly from the original comedy series. As stated, Ben 10, Jack and Teen Titans are the biggest faces of that decade, along with Total Drama which was a very unique comedy that arguably paved the way for AT.

Yea, during the entirety of the 2000s was a mixed bag for CN, but it was in the most amazing way possible. The action and comedy animated programming in the show range from decent to great. Nick also had a nice variety in the decade, but wasn't as well known by the mid-2000s. Disney Channel, however, only had more memorable sitcoms and less animated programming, unless if you count Kim Possible, Proud Family or Phineas & Ferb.

Alright @TVBForever, I made a sequel game roster. I just doubled the original character count (not including DLC) to get a size similar to Smash Wii U (50). If done this way, I believe this would be the CN roster:

This roster better represents the 2000s and 2010s, has more villains and more weird picks that I believe round it all out. Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10 and Adventure Time are clearly the channel's biggest hits/mascots, so they took priority and get 5 characters each.

90s: 14/50 (gonna count Scooby here)
2000s: 20/50
2010s: 16/50

Have you also tried adding Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, Scooby Doo or either Batman and Superman characters on the roster list?

I definitely thought about it, I just didn’t want to bloat the roster with many outside materials.

Say what you want about the 4 at the end, but Teen Titans has been a staple of the Network to many fans and Go is the most popular series on the channel since 2013. Total Drama is also really embraced and helped CN during a slump. Scooby Doo is odd, but out of the Warner animation, Scooby is clearly the most tied in with CN. Most of the show runners worked on Scooby at some point, his cast gets the most screen time in ads like the studio era and especially CN City, and he had crossovers with Johnny Bravo, Courage and TTG. Easily the most integrated WB property.

If I were to add more WB/DC content, I would do Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, DCAU Superman, Brave & The Bold Batman, DC Superhero Girls Wonder Woman, and a Young Justice character that isn’t Knightwing, probably Artemis. Space Ghost is another good one for an Adult Swim rep.

If we do add in more Adult Swim reps, what about Master Shake, Carl, Mooninites, Brak, Zorak, Dr. Venture, The Monarch, The Robot Chicken or The Nerd?

It depends on the audience of the game. If we are making this a children’s game, then Adult Swim reps are not likely. Space Ghost has the benefit of being a good mid point. Coast to Coast was part of CN for years with Adult Swim being developed a little before the last season. His characters have appeared in numerous CN material such as Toonami (Moltar was the first host) and Cartoon Planet. The dude is an icon of both parts of the network.

New Garfield trailer dropped. I hate the neutral special as it makes no sense. Feels like they turned a taunt into a move and looks bad in gameplay.

Great roster. On the subject of great shows form CN's past, I'd like to bring up the hidden gem Swat Kats.

Not a CN show. It aired on CN, but it's not an original programming. It, alongside 2 Stupid Dogs were aired on syndication under the Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera block, and these two would air on TBS or TNT in most areas.

I did it @TVBForever and @Sundae. I felt the need to finish out the CN roster with an Ultimate sized 70. I will admit that I still left out non-CN material, though I think that speaks volumes to how strong CN's original programming is.

Added 20 more characters that I believe would round out the roster, completing some IP and adding new.

For new IPs I added Generator Rex and Secret Saturdays to round out action shows, Time Squad to get another Cartoon Cartoon in, Toonami to bring in a major 90-2000s brand and then rounded out the 2010s with Uncle Grandpa, Clarence, Over The garden Wall and Craig of The Creek.

After that I added:
  • Monkey to get in a Dexter side-series character
  • Morbucks as she seems to be the most popular villain past Mojo and Him. I went for either her or Fuzzy.
  • Rook as he was the last main partner character to Ben and brings in Omniverse
  • Flame Princess is the next most popular AT character
  • Spinel adds a modern villain rep, kinda. Wanted a Steven character that wasn't Amethyst or Pearl.
  • Johhny - has Plank, the face of Ed Edd n' Eddy.
  • Eustace - Funny joke character and a major part of Courage.
  • Benson - Probably the best character to add, otherwise I would have used Pops
  • Nicole and Anais - Wanted Nicole, then decided to complete the family
  • Erwin - 4th main character of B&M, adds a black character while not feeling forced.
  • Numbuh 5 - Basically the second main character after Numbuh 1, also adds another black character that doesn't feel forced.

Should probably get back to discussing Nick though...

I still think they need to add Mighty Mouse and Heckle & Jeckles, as well as other Paramount IPs like Star Trek, Beavis & Butthead, South Park, Clone High, NCIS, CBS Sports, etc. in the roster just for shits and giggles

Sorry to continue the derailment, but as much as I like Numbuh 5, it would be a crime not to pull from KND's rogues gallery instead of having a second Sector V member. The Toiletnator as a joke character, or Chad as a teen rep? Or Cree if you wanted to keep a black character.

And that's ONLY because these devs are too cheap to come up with any original move or fight sets for Gerald. That screams desperate
Something I really hate about the movesets, and this was something pointed out by Delzethin, is the over reliance on props for attacks. After hearing it in that video, I cannot unsee it in regards to characters. I hate how so many moves are characters pulling props out of thin air, it looks really bad a majority of the time. The Gerald trailer has a segment where he pulled out a whole basketball backboard out of thin air to hit a turtle with. Why/how would Gerald fight like this?

Other characters have this too. Garfield has an attack that would look good if they didn’t force him to hold up a donut for it. Patrick has tons of random moves like him shaking the coat hanger and even his downward where he pulls out the cone. It makes these characters really terrible to look at and takes me out of the feel. For example, Patrick has been in games before, he has a downward slam in BFBB that would look so much better, especially if they animated him grabbing his head to get up.

The moves in this game are a hodgepodge of moves stolen from other fighters and props. It doesn’t feel like the devs understand the characters or create archetypes suited to them. It is even more frustrating when characters like SpongeBob have plenty of video game material to work off of and make a cohesive play style.

Understandable. I think the bigger reality is that KND should have gotten 4 picks like B&M, but I ran out of room. Toiletnator was a character I considered as he was in Punch Time Explosion XL.
