The Brawl is back sometime in 2023.

Rebuilt from the ground up, Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl 2 will build off its predecessor with all new modes and characters. The main draw this time being the story mode in which Nicktoons across the multiverse get sucked into portals summoned by Danny Phantom villain, Vlad Plasmius, as he attempts to take over the NickToons multiverse. This game will have redesigned stages and character models to give it a more modern design.

New Characters (as of 07/27/23):
  1. Squidward
  2. Jimmy Neutron
  3. Vlad Plasmius (presumably)

New Stages:
  • The Fry Cook Games (SpongeBob)

isn't the other game like less than 2 years old? how much could they have changed that thye couldn't just do in an update?

What the other replies have said

This comes off as "All-Star Brawl: We Actually Have A Budget This Time" Edition

Guarantee most of the money went to the voice actors

Time to revive my where the fuck is Angelica line.

Seriously they could include
Angelica Pickles
Arnold
The Crimson Chin
Timmy Turner with Cosmo & Wanda
Vicki
Plankton
Eliza Thornberry
Marc Summers

I know I'm definitely missing names.

Time will tell if Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is as deserving of a sequel name as Overwatch 2 is.

Probably because zoomers don't know half of those characters.

I always say this in Nick threads, but FOP has legal shit that prevents it from appearing. There is a reason the last FOP game was in like 2007 and he hasn't been in a NickToons game since Attack of The Toybots, not counting apps. Disney actually owns the air rights to the first 4 seasons of FOP in Latin America, while Nick can only air 5-beyond. Bit of a cluster fuck what rights are like in Latin America, Brazil and Scandinavia.

Time to revive my where the fuck is Angelica line.
My best guess is just Nick being uncomfortable with their characters BTFOing babies.

Why not just update your old game? What the fuck?
They seem to be overhauling everything. The game is rebuilt from the ground up, new engine, new mechanics, new moves, etc..

The first one was the one that actively was getting better after the patches and DLC characters were available. To announce a second one must be another example of bold confidence, or they're trying to desperately make more money by trying to get more new fans to not forget that a Nickeloden title has a fighting game that is not Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

That is not to say that I will not check this one out when, or if, new information comes forward. Still, I just can't help but be confused by this.

The fact that the story mode uses a pre-existing villain instead of an original one like you saw in Brawl/Ultimate is kind of interesting. Makes me wonder if they're going to be doing the whole "villain team-up" plot line and we're going to be getting more bad guys, or if it's just going to be Vlad smugging it up. I'd prefer the former, just for the potential of more characters and absolutely goofy cutscenes.

Recent Polygon Article about Differences:
Polygon: Can you talk about what’s new here from a core gameplay perspective? What do you think will surprise players about the change from Brawl to Brawl 2, in terms of updated mechanics?

Rodriguez:
This is actually a difficult question to answer because this is an entirely new game! We’ve changed almost every aspect of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 1 in small to big ways and we hope all of them come as a good surprise for players, but to list a few of the changes:

  • We’ve completely redone how movement works by changing to analog inputs compared to digital inputs from the first game, meaning things feel smoother and more responsive when moving around… which opens up a whole new world in terms of gameplay and strategy.
  • We’ve also added more options like horizontal attacks, defensive rolls and dodges.
  • We added something that is not very common to the platform fighters — a meter mechanic. This introduces a more in-depth system to the game in general. Using this meter you can modify attacks, do ultimates, boost damage, slime cancel and much more unique stuff!
  • Finally, something that stands out compared to the first game is the character design. On NASB 2 we put a lot of effort into making each character feel unique so we can cater to different types of gameplay.
One of the bigger complaints players had about NASB was the perceived value for the cost — would you say you’ve taken that to heart for NASB2? Is this a game you plan to support beyond the announced season pass?

Absolutely. We’ve put a lot of care into building a much bigger and more polished experience for NASB 2 and we hope players notice. There are quite a lot of changes and additions, for example: more costumes, better animations, better sound, VO at launch, better netcode, campaign, more gameplay modes, and more! But most of all we hope players have fun playing the game and feel they are getting a great value for it.

All I can say right now is that we are very excited about the season pass!

There is also a Season Pass and different versions:
  1. 4 New Characters
  2. A new costume for each existing character
