These are the beta tracks I think work better than the completed versions. They're a bit different, particularly Dr. Light.
The two aside from Light's theme were really good (it just sounds wrong not being the old theme), especially X vs Zero. I looked up the final versions and I think they're better personally, especially X VS Zero. Both versions are great though.

If Zero is Vegeta, who is Axl?
Uub? He's the darker looking new guy who's obviously poised to take the spotlight but nobody liked him enough.

I didn't play the game he is from so I'm just guessing based on what I can tell.

X7 is so awful I wonder if it was made bad on purpose to kill the series. It has practically no redeeming factors. Not even the music is that good.

Red and Wind Crowrang are cool I guess.

It was pretty much a soft reboot, except not. They tried to do things like imply Red was ex-Repliforce, without making that relevant to anything ingame. They also took the time to toss out materials retconning in that the original reason X joined the Maverick Hunters was to "observe Zero," because Zero has to be the reason for everything I suppose.

Fucking dying at bn1. Prologue essentially predicted the iPhone and smart boards.
I kina like how brutal it is, it was surprising. I definitely didn't remember getting my shit pushed in so badly back in the day, maybe my reflexes are just trash now.

Jacking into the Wood Man area really caught me off guard, they hit hard in there.

The more I think about it, the more I think the majority of the problems with the X and Zero stories are due not just to Inafune, but Capcom trying to copy their other Mega Man series.

not really no, he's more like someone that has a trick up his sleeve that is metamorphosis and owns it, he doesn't have a hand blaster nor he is that powerful maybe majin boo minus the huge power shit that always gets surpassed, Axl's thing is more infiltration and intel.

X series was making shit on the get go but infanune worked his con man ways to fuck it up and try to hamfist zero past X2, no surprise everything is shit that draws zero in for some retarded reason.

Zero stories is about making zero awesome and better than X up to the point that X becomes crazed with power even though he spent 30 years in a capsule to prevent that from ever happening BUT X6 was greenlit and X being the crazed dictator that needed to be killed had to be changed places with Copy X with inafune kvetching at the background because capcom dared going against his retardation of pushing Zero, which is cooler, more powerful an wiser than megaman X, which is called X because X in mathematics represents an unknown value number that may be small or big depending on the formula...

A simpler way to say all that is "Starting with X4, Zero is the center of the universe and everything ties back to him somehow."

Even the Mother Elf that deleted Sigma is just a thing made from a piece of Zero.

It's so pervasive that in X DiVE, the playable final boss form of Zero's Robot Destruction Program (which of course is the original form of the Sigma Virus) awards a title of "The End of the Beginning" in Japanese.

Honestly, the increased focus on Zero I didn't really mind, given that I actually found him to be more interesting than X, who came off as being a bit too vanilla. I found the latter much more interesting ironically in the Zero series.

Though I do agree that the sidelining of him in X7 was a huge mistake. Given that Axl was the one he was sidelined for only increases my dislike of that game, and not because I hate Axl, quite the opposite. He's actually one of my favorite characters in the whole series. It's just that he was given one heck of a crappy first impression, what with his obnoxious voice-acting, and him replacing X for the first two thirds of that game.

At least X8 and Command Mission gave him a proper chance to shine.

Zero starting from X4 is a pastiche of shonen protagonists, it does not get more vanilla than him.

Half the reason he gets so much attention from fujoshis is because of supposedly having some traits of similarly latched-upon characters of the day, like Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing.

There's a reason X5 has a colony drop, and ZX Advent makes direct references to Gundam.

I just don't like pacifists in action series. X not wanting to fight is fine, the original Mega Man didn't either, but X seems retardedly reluctant like Kenshin and Vash. Mega Man would voice his disapproval of violence but it never stopped him from killing his enemies.

Remember that time he was gonna kill Wily after he was subdued? Took 7 times but he eventually got fed up. Too bad they never explored that more, he just went back to letting him go again.

Jacking the Wood Man really hard in there.

Unfortunately, the infamous "I am more than a robot; die Wily!!" line is an invention of the US localizers. A very good invention, mind. MM just raises his gun and says nothing in the Japanese version.

As for the rest, you have to remember that MMX is heavily based on the Casshan animes. To wit, several months before X1 came out, Casshan Robot Hunter namedropped a "Project Sigma" consisting of androids capable of fostering environmental growth. There's a reason Sigma comments about humans destroying the environment.

Both MM and X are based off of Casshan himself, who has been around since the 70s. It's why they fire solar energy and have those things on their forehead. It's where MM.EXE's face mask comes from as well. Casshan didn't really want to fight either but had to.

I knew about the line being added, but didn't he also move in on him with his buster pointed at him? Or am I misremembering that?

I never heard of that but it sounds pretty good.

There are two you need to watch, and from the word go you will recognize enemies from both classic MM and X.

One is Neo-Human Casshan, from the 70s. The second is Casshan Robot Hunter from 1993. I would say the 70s version is better, but the 1993 version looks a lot nicer.

Avoid Casshan Sins like the plague, it is literally called the Mega Man Zero of anime for a reason. It is nothing like the things it is based on, and it is on purpose by someone claiming they could do it better.

MMX1 has a lot of shit though. It's definitely a guide damn it game since you have to do a lot of backtracking to get X fully armored and all of the hearts to get him to max (IE regular) health plus health tanks.

Also the bullshit where you have to fucking grind to fill your health tanks is insanely annoying and time consuming. Especially since there are parts of the game in the Sigma boss levels where you WILL end up having to use all four of them, which slows you down since you then have to find enemies that you can both easily kill and which give you decent energy yield to quickly fill up your tanks.
It's annoying stuff, but certainly not dificulty. You don't NEED all of the life ups and the tanks and armor parts (outside of the boots) to beat the game, but it certainly does help and if you have it all it's not particularly hard if you know how a platformer works and definitely a step down from the older Nes entries.

This is the only one I saw since it seemed cool (artstyle reminded me a lot of Saint Seiya) and the OP was a banger, what a bunch of masturbatory wank though. So the older series are worth a look at then? Are they particularly long?

So its the japanese “everyone goes back to zero/nothing in the end” trope? XDive’s story is only really accessible through youtube videos and via is just Cyan zero for all I care.

Xdive is non canon garbage with a slow camera that often has you making leaps of faith off screen either onto a ledge you cannot see or a pit while insisting you clear the stage like a speedrunner and punishes players for things out of their control, like the last enemy of a forced horde mode segement spawning in 30 seconds late after everything has been destroyed. Will be seen often on jakob’s space elevator and Race mode.

Then it locks story progression behind exponentially increasing arbitrary destiny light levels AND player levels. With forced armor crafting having no cosmetic effect in game. Also forces players to scroll back several chapters to go through the “hard mode” of levels they’ve already beaten when even every other gachashit ever made doesn’t do this.

Pvp? Might work in a MM game. But like every other gachashit is a cheaters haven and a forced meme. It even tries to have a competitive mode it takes seriously lmao. Pvp, especially competitive pvp does not ever work with hundreds of different abilities that range from invincibility spam to “kill you with wall hacks off screen button” and no dedicated mod team to ban cheaters and trolls who game the report system.

Not even the chain rod in MMZ2 or grappling segments in MMZ4 were as bullshit as Xdive consistently is.

Finally there is the worst part. RICO.
Rico also constantly takes away control from the player well beyond the tutorial up to LEVEL 50 to explain things you’ve figured out weeks ago at that point and is the true antagonist of the game from the “-PLAYER SAMA!”

X isn't stopped either. He kills every Maverick after an attempt at talking them out of it.

... just don't look at X7. Pretend it doesn't exist.

IF, DiVE isn't hard, it's rather easy. It's just mindless button mashing most of the time. You think you need strategy for bosses but it becomes "shoot until it dies."

Caring about PVP is laughable, get your ten items of the day and fuck off. The latency is terrible, why care if someone is "cheating" - they probably just have a ping of 970.

RiCO is a rip-off of some other character, but she's tolerable after you level, which if you're in a guild takes about a week, I believe? It's really nothing. Comparing it to Pedophile's Delight 2 and 4 really isn't necessary.

It has gotten trite, though. They haven't made any new modes or side games for years. Deep Recorder is fine, but we need something else. Thankfully it's dying off to make room for Monster Hunter Go, Capcom's cash cow created by an executive's son.

X's entire personality is "I don't want to fight...but I must! But I don't want to...but I must! But...I don't want to...". His design is awesome, the games are fun as hell, but X isn't an interesting character. At least not until Inafune left.

He was kind of screwed from the get go. The entire idea is that he's the first robot with feelings (which was of course retconned immediately but whatever), but in the games he's basically the ultimate killing machine. Those two things don't really mesh.

I always felt like Vile was robot Vegeta for some reason, except never became good.
Bass is robot Vegeta. His sole purpose is to be better than Mega Man and the idea that he isn't the strongest robot in the world literally can't compute with him. He straight up ignores Dr. Wily's commands at times because he's prideful and arrogant to a fault.

My favorite thing about Bass has to be the fact he destroys Dr. Wily's other robots simply to prove that he's his best creation.

Thinking back on the old series makes me wish Protoman would have gotten more love. His entire purpose was to be a test run to see if giving robots free will would even work at all. He also gave Wily the experience he needed while upgrading him to go on to design Zero. Not to mention he's Mega Man's "older brother".

He decided against a repair to faulty reactor that could have erased any memories he had, and chose to leave on his own. Him choosing to live his own life and make his own decisions despite his ever-shrinking lifespan just makes him a cool character.

The Battle Network design was cool, and although Chaud has some traces of Protoman's story of becoming his own person and distinguishing himself from his father, it's not quite the same.

EDIT: Rant extension
