Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Tops Japan Sales Charts

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection launched worldwide on April 14th. Roughly a week later, the first sales report has come out from Japan - and it's looking good.
For the week between April 10th to April 16th, Famitsu reports that the Nintendo Switch version has sold 52,375 units charting at #1 and the PlayStation 4 version charted at #5 selling 7,871 units. Basically, the collection sold approximately 60,246 units in three days, selling more than all Mega Man X Legacy Collection versions (1, 2 and 1+2 bundle) combined and Mega Man 11 in a similar period of time (in Japan).

This number only accounts for physical sales in Japan. Worldwide digital and physical sales have yet to be disclosed but this bodes well overall. MMBNLC could be on track to become the next million seller in the Mega Man franchise.

Stay tuned for updates.
Helps that literally nothing else is releasing this month.

How miserable am I going to be going back to MMBN1/2 after playing 3?
I started with 3 because that was where I started as a kid an dfigured I'd just go back to the games I've heard less good things about.
I'm worried I'll just drop them though.

MMBN1 still holds up aside from the dungeons. Imo there's no shame in just using a guide to get through them, the fun is in the combat, characters, and music.

The other 5 are a blur to me tbh, but I started with MMBN1 so I'm probably biased.

2 is almost as good as 3, 1 is very rough to the point of not being enjoyable. All the fundamentals of the game are there, but it's unpolished to say the least. 4 is worse than 1 but in very different ways, 5 and 6 are both great.

I can't figure out if I already posted this a few years ago but they really should have just made X9 and followed up on that "new gen reploids are actually sigma clones at base level thanks to that chip shit sigma planned" thing. They keep occasionally hyping up or hinting at an x9 but like ape escape 4's constant hints before sony killed the dev studio killing all hope capcom have never delivered.
I gotta wonder if there's a leak of the JP version of legends 3 out there in the wild considering the game was pretty much set to release before they last minute cancelled it with the bullshit excuse of "fans didn't want it enough". I say that because the game had a demo of the first few chapters on the JP 3ds eshop and other last minute canned games like starfox 2 leaked out years after they were cancelled, only for then years later to get actual official releases due to it being well known enough in starfox 2's case, and unlike legends 3, That game wasn't even done being developed!
If they ever DO make and release X9 I got a feeling they're gonna forget the whole "the chips that got banned gradually turned the robots using them into sigma clones save for that one purple haired shitbag that was held hostage till he was later claiming he was the real mastermind last second". The chips are also back in production and the ban lifted with no alteration due to the convenience of their usage and the government fucking doesn't care abotu the sigma clone risk.

Seriously though back in the day playing through the games x8 was the only one I think I ever managed to fully complete as a kid for some reason despite the last few levels being just spike wall hell.
Kinda stuck with me how as you progressed depending on who you fought you basically got to see different stages of their fucking descent into madness. like the premise of "ah yeah we made new reploids immune to sigma's bullshit! Hey they can even copy sigma's body if they need to how cool!" and then they start going crazy and yeah next thing you know they're all weird sigma cultists and then when you get to the moonbase a bunch of them have literally become exact clones of sigma but without all of his memories and shit and then you get to he real sigma's sitting on his space throne and he's like "yeah those chips that make reploids immune to my virus shit? Haha you FUCKING IDIOT THATS CAUSE THEY'RE ME I'M ALREADY INSIDE YOUR FUCKING CHIPS THESE GUYS ARE MY CHILDREN FUCK YOU X HAHAA DUMBASS" And then you beat his ass and then the dumbass shows up and says it was his plan with no fucking proof to back it up and talks about "only us new reploids are able to go maverick at will!" meanwhile the entire premise of the first x was before sigma got the woowoo magic virus powers he was the head of the team dedicated to stopping robo-terrorism from normal ass reploids that decided to go maverick at will. You even got guys like vile and dynamo who are inexplicably immune to sigma's shit but go with his side anyways because of their own personal reasons.

Tl;Dr Sigma cultists turned sigma clone hellscape on the moon, Fuck you Lumine, Vile was literally in the game and kidnapped you he went maverick on his own free will fucking ages before you did purple haired bastard

More X shit but untied to the other x shit, I recently caught a random stream of some guy playing through x6 and I had to do a double take when the nightmare zero boss happened because the dialogue was more or less Zero showing up and going "X! Am glad to see you! let's team up and fight off this threat together just like old times!" and X goes "Ok Zero! LET'S START BY KILLING YOU!" Like I'm shitting you not the dialogue wasn't exact to that but that's literally how the fight started, which is then followed by x being happy zero's alive in the cutscene after and then you can play as zero.

The actual context in the plot (and in like all the other uploads I've found of the scene) Is like "oh X doesn't recognize zero while he's charged up with the nightmare energy so they fight" or some shit like that. But like many things in the x games, there is ALTERNATE CUTSCENE DIALOGUE dependent on stage in this case I guess? Anyways the point is I was fucking dying and I could literally not find any upload of the specific dialogue I was looking for after this thing happened. X and zero casually talking with each other before X randomly deciding he wants to kill his friend he thought was dead is such a fucking hilarious ass nonsense moment.

Ok triple topic rambling wall done, Now I sleep. Z.

Interesting to see both of these replies back to back because I have never heard anyone talk positively about 1 and 2.
Usually it's "They are ok if not a little irritating at times and the series mostly just gets better from there"
I've played and revisited 3, 4, 5, NT and some of 6 many times over the years but have never been willing to bite the bullet and try 1/2.
Hopefully how much of a slog they are has been greatly overexaggerated.

OK, now that it's out and about. Question, what does this remake bring to the table for me to phony up the cash instead of just emulating?

No excuses for not doing a Legends collection now.

No excuses for not doing a Legends collection now.
Absolutely not.

MMBN is literally nothing like other forms of MM. All this will do is make them consider MMBN7, and kill off any ideas of continuing the other series. Possibly even MM12.

There were rumors that Capcom JP were working on an MMBN gacha before COVID hit. That will likely be finished up now and the other one killed off in exchange.

There is likely not. They kept the prototype version pretty close to the chest, and i can't think of any press outlet that owned a copy, though some did get to play it.

Game is still sold out everywhere. Capcom USA has yet to issue a statement......
Canadian retailer VGP claims to have copies on back order, if you wanna try your luck. They do int shipping but the damn thing is one cent off from qualifying for free at 79.99 CAN(like 53 USD).

I hope imagine Star Force will follow next, with Legends last probably.

Oof...I'd take MMBN7 over MM12, but they should just do both.
