Sony: Waah not good enough.
Shit like this just shows how retarded Sony is with their attitudes. Whenever something doesn't happen in their favour they bitch and complain about it, whether that's cross-play, business acquisitions or preferential third-party (but never when they do it). Obviously acquiring Bungie wasn't good enough for them and they're mad as heck that pissing away all that revenue from consistently dominating the last generation and blowing it on their other lackluster industries didn't give them the income to pay for Activision first.

IMO they're also the least humble of the three. I don't remember the other two releasing ads just to piss on the competition, or pretending how removing fundamental cornerstones of game interaction is such a great thing. Kinda hope the Activision buyout goes through just so their crying and foot-stomping amounts to nothing.

What's these two? As in, the ad and removing interaction. Are you referring to GOWR on the second statement?

I'm referring to the ads where they used that Kevin Butler character to shit-talk the Wii and Kinect during their heyday for the PSMove, and as I recall they did one for the PS4, which was an obvious crack at the Xbone's "online-only" premiere. To be fair online-only does suck, but I don't recall Nintendo or Microsoft doing that sort of thing in their advertising. Sony's just done some really janky shit over the years. Remember the totally-legit-and-not-paid "All I Want for Xmas is a PSP" blog? Or Jack Tretton boasting about the PS3 and mocking the Wiimote upon launch?

As for the interaction, I'm talking about their initial stance in removing force feedback and replacing it with Sixaxis. They just spewed about how it was so old and defunct and poorly waving your controller around like a retard was the real way for the future.

It's just all this snobbish, childishly aggressive behaviour that they exhibit and I don't see how anyone could view those amateurs as virtuous paragons of gaming. All of the Big Three have glaring problems without exception, but Sony has always struck me as the company that's the most autistic and utterly incapable of acting professionally.

(I have a PS4 and PS5 btw.)

Related to the whole "Battlefield" statement by Sony, it's not as if EA was pushing the bar when it comes to competing with CoD. They had one very good year with BF1 compared to Infinite Warfare, and everything fell apart from there when they convinced themselves that being woke was paramount to a good game.

CoD:WW2 did okay, but was on the ridiculous side of attachments for WW2 weapons, Black Female Nazis and not being historically accurate. EA saw this and made Battlefield Vagina out of it, instead of seeing that Activision practically threw them the W if they could make a more historically accurate and immersive game. And in 2021 Activision made CoD: Vanguard - a good, lasting WW2 game by EA could have trounced both.

Having failed that they made 2042, a game where gameplay is secondary to limiting customisation, having a Fortnite approach on launch and locking a fun gameplay feature to a character that you HAVE TO KNOW IS NON-BINARY. Anything resembling BF3 or BF4 would have done amazingly in this day and age where companies are so timid that they can't put the real names on the damn guns, but 2042's what we got and MW2 barely had to try to be a better product.

I'm not suggesting that Battlefield would be outselling CoD by this point if they had made superior games (it'd be less of a margin though), merely that they fell over themselves so badly in their stupidity that all CoD had to do was say, "Hey, at least we're not Battlefield!"

Can't comment on Microsoft but if you are going that far back then Nintendo has talked tons of shit over the years, mostly towards Sega but they've thrown digs in at Sony and Microsoft too.

You know what, I am going to say that. CoD didn't start out the leader, it got there by being better than Battlefield and MoH and if BF really had been the better game three or four times in a row then people would have realized and gave it the sales win. BF1 had tons of good word of mouth, I was even hearing about it from my non-gamer friends at work back in the day. They could have followed it up and won but they chased the customization/live-service/hero shooter model and it came back to bite them.

The FTC isn't going to investigate shit. If they do, it'll be the biggest load of horseshit I have EVER seen, considering they sat on their hands while Disney was buying movie studios left and right.
And all this talk about monopolies when the EU are sitting on their hands letting Embracer buy up every European studio not named CDPR. Not that I currently mind too much as they seem like an alright company, but be consistent at least EU.
but I don't recall Nintendo or Microsoft doing that sort of thing in their advertising.
It wasn't in an advertisement, I think a press conference or something, where Peter Moore (Xbox leader at the time) said something along the lines of "Why buy a PS3 when you can get an Xbox 360 and Wii combined for less?". Pretty much the only thing I can think of from Microsoft. Not sure about Nintendo.

Sony is overly cocky, Nintendo pisses off 3rd parties every 10 seconds, and Microsoft has been historically crap at running their 1st party studios. Kind of an equal balance in a way, with Sony definitely being the most obnoxious.

Embracer aren't a console maker, and started off as a no-name AA Publisher.

Most of Nintendo's more blatant arrogance was back under the leadership of Hiroshi Yamaouchi, who had the entire video game industry by the balls and lorded over it as a tyrant, and was very blatant in how he strong-armed the industry, to the point that many companies ran to Sega, and some, like Namco, had (or may even still have) long standing grudges from that era. Every other company was literally a peasant to Emperor Nintendo. They were honestly as bad as Microsoft was back in the day, except instead of outright crushing competition, they just used their dominant market position to lord over other smaller developers and publishers. However, things improved considerably under his successor, Satoru Iwata, who was a much more beloved figure and is remembered far more positively. Nintendo's arrogance is mostly behind closed doors now.

They've been working with Deviation games which are all FPS devs from Treyarch. It's possibly a new IP but it's already been confirmed to be an online multiplayer shooter.

Naughty Dog is working on a shooter, Team Asobi has a platformer in the works, and Guerilla Games is working on their first person VR title. They have a multitude of genres, but their action adventure titles seem to dominate everything else.
Shut up faggot. Fuck off.

True, and I'm not saying they are a monopoly. Just pointing out if the comissioners are worried about a monopoly and market consolidation, they sure don't care about how big Embracer has gotten the past few years.

Ah right, Nintendo were definitely awful way back when it came to that stuff. Exclusivity on NES games, 5 games a year limit for 3rd parties, sticking with cartridges for the N64, and of course pissing off Sony by going behind their backs with the SNES CD add-on development. Emperor, indeed.

Luckily both them and Microsoft have relaxed on the shit they were doing in the 90's. Sony on the other hand have only gotten more arrogant in gaming.

Nintendo did a bit of shit-talking in the 90s, but that was mostly tame; the only big examples I can think of are the no-hopers sign in Donkey Kong Country 2 (hidden in an actual game, not an ad out in the open) and that promo video for Star Fox 64 where Sega and Sony kidnap Nintendo to try to find out what makes the game so good. That’s nothing compared to an entire marketing campaign from Sega bashing Nintendo, Sonic commercials saying Mario fans are losers, and Crash protesting outside Nintendo’s headquarters.

And I can’t think of a single example where Microsoft ever focused on insulting their competitors, unless there’s something I don’t know about. Basically, Nintendo and Microsoft’s marketing is “here’s why our product is good”, while Sony’s is “you should buy our product because everyone else sucks”. And Sega was a mix of both.
sticking with cartridges for the N64
I still say that was the single biggest mistake Nintendo has ever made. I love the N64, but the only reason third parties - especially big ones like Square - even considered moving to Playstation was because they were the only ones who didn’t shit the bed with limited storage or painful architectures. And the PS2 was only successful because it rode off the PS1’s success and didn’t shit the bed with DVDs. And every Playstation since has only been successful because of the PS2. I can’t even imagine how different the gaming industry would be today if the N64 used CDs instead of cartridges.

doesn't really matter, owning dozens of dead and niche IPs is hardly comparable to MS buying bethesda, and then activision, or disney going marvel and fox.

Luckily both them and Microsoft have relaxed on the shit they were doing in the 90's. Sony on the other hand have only gotten more arrogant in gaming.
MS is still shit and always was, instead of openly shitting on the competition they silently shit on their customers. they're only the good guy suddenly because MUH GAMEPASS MUH CHEAP VIDEOGAMES, sooner or later xbots are gonna enjoy the equivalent of windows 11.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday were a thing to witness this year.

I've never understood the appeal of GamePass, but I'm also not a fan of running everything through Steam or the "you will own nothing and be happy" mindset.
Does the concept of it's your own fault for taking his offer even register with redditoids?
I don't get why they would pay such a stupid amount of money for it. Wait a couple of months and watch it pop back on the shelves, fuck. Have some goddamn patience.

That basically proves that Sony does not preserve its franchises. Wait ten years from now, you think Horizon: Zero Dawn will still be relevant? Sony could've had a competitor with Minecraft if they played their cards right.
Horizon is on GoG now so that might increase its chances of being preserved for posterity by fans of the series.

And since Battlefront 3 probably won't be happening (again...), both DICE studios will probably be free to fully collaborate on the next Battlefield installment.
It's so unfortunate Dice is sitting on a great IP by the name of Mirrors Edge and not doing anything with it. Instead they pump out more CoD clones.

Considering subreddits get pissy whenever a robber or other criminal gets beaten up/killed for being scum... No. Same website that's still upset Rittenhouse killed a pedophile who tried killing him.
