How hard did she have to try to grow as unibrow as large as she has when she didn't have one when she was younger?
You probably gotta focus all your brain power on that shit, that's why she looks brain dead

These people claim to hate ableism, and yet their definition of autism is incredibly dehumanizing... this woman's "autistic persona" is basically an animal incapable of uttering a single human-like sound, without any self-awareness or care for her appearance.

It's like a Nazi caricature of a "drooling mongrel we shouldn't spend a single Reichmark on keeping alive".

For years I have wondered just what is up with this person. Several people online believe that she really is autistic, but you don't suddenly develop autism at 20 and lose the ability to talk and walk. She claims her experience and health problems are totally normal for people with autism.
As for the feeding tubes, she has gastroparesis, or paralysis of the stomach. About 2 years ago (I think) there was drama because Amanda claims the hospital was refusing to give her a feeding tube. A bunch of autistic advocates called the hospital up and made a fuss saying they were trying to kill Amanda. She got the tube, which they allegedly put in without anesthesia despite her screaming in pain. (doesn't make sense)
I think she looks really unhealthy. I don't know why, but looking at her face, it looks like she must have trouble breathing. I'm surprised she doesn't have diabetes or congestive heart failure.

Ah, that makes sense. Well...you know what I mean. That explains it.

Oh, for fuck's sake...that would NOT happen, unless she refused anesthesia.

I don't know why, but looking at her face, it looks like she must have trouble breathing.
In some of her selfies, you can see her using some sort of breathing apparatuses...apparati? In some, she has the oxygen prongs, in other, she has a full on c-pap/bi-pap/oxygen mask.

I'm surprised she doesn't have diabetes or congestive heart failure.
Oh, I'm sure those are somewhere on her laundry list.

I actually don't think a doctor would do it without anesthesia unless you had some alternate method, because screaming and wiggling in pain would obviously disrupt the surgery... Is there an article on this part of the story or something?

Drug use is particularly unkind to emerging schizophrenics, so that part of her backstory seems to have some sense to it. If she was eventually medicated, that could contribute to her apparent slowness and explain why she believes she's gone from genius to retarded. There's no making sense of that face, though.

Risperidone, which is a common antipsychotic prescribed for schizophrenics, can cause HUGE weight gain, upwards of 200 lbs. That could be part of her issue, on top of whatever must be wrong with her hormones to give her so much extra facial hair. :heart-empty:

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't some autists just not care about appearance? Either way, yeah this caricature is super insulting

1: Exactly. She looks all the world like a normal little girl and everything. You don't suddenly develop symptoms of something you have to be born with to have.
2: Were these advocates Autism Speaks? Cause fuck them.
3: Yes, she does have trouble breathing. She uses I think a c-pap in one of her selfies. Just all around unhealthy looking and everything...

While I can't speak specifically about low-functioning autism (their ailments weren't disclosed), I have met several teenagers and adults who are actually nonverbal (or barely verbal) and too developmentally impaired to walk without assistance. This is actually a demographic that exists outside the fantasies of retard-punchers. The reason Amanda rose to prominence is that she made a semi-convincing impression of disability, while simultaneously being able to express very detailed and thoughtful (fabricated) accounts of her life - something that, if it were true, would have been a game-changer, as it is extremely difficult to communicate with nonverbal autistic people at all, let alone to a degree where they can advocate for themselves.

Unfortunately, since Amanda is an utter fraud, all her "activism" is doing is spreading misinformation for her own personal benefit, with no regard for how it might affect actual developmentally disabled people and their families. Fuck this woman.

How can she been on a feeding tube and still be so fat?
Are they just pumping liquified hamburgers into her?

Sedentary lifestyle + PCOS-wracked metabolism = amazing weight gain, I think.

Honestly if she didn't have PCOS she'd still be exactly as fat, just likely less hairy. PCOS is pretty manageable if you actually use your fucking legs.

As far as weight gain goes, some of that might be because of the feeding tube. Now my info comes from a hospice nurse I dealt with during an end of life discussion for a family member. She said they (hospice trained personnel) had stopped recommending feeding tubes for those who were at end of life because the sedentary way the patients were caused them to bloat up, without really improving their way of life. Again, this was end of life, not a lazy ass, so I don't know if it has any relation.

On the other hand, this is apparently what happens when you aren't immortal like Keith Richards.

Has Amanda ever listed PCOS among her many ailments?

We know she says she has been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and prescribed long-term corticosteroids. She has specifically mentioned prednisone and dexamethasone by injection, which have among their side effects weight gain, "Cushingoid" fat redistribution - this would explain the moonface - and increased or unusual hair growth in females. In fact, she has attributed her facial hair overgrowth to the prednisone.

She says she resists having her facial hair removed, because it feels like having a vital aspect of her identity stolen.

Referring to a medication side effect as a crucial part of one's identity is just ...bizarre. But Amanda seems to have very little identity apart from disability. Her hobbies - formerly painting, and now crochet - are "therapy" or "stimming." She presents her pets as service animals or equates them to caregivers. She chooses to dress and groom herself in ways she knows will invite people to perceive her as behaviorally and cognitively impaired. It's so creepy.

If your identity is so damn fragile that it's defined by your facial hair, it's time to take a long hard look at yourself.

If even half of what she's saying was true, she'd be under research as a medical mystery. She claims to have developed severe autism in adulthood, which simply does not happen without something like a catastrophic brain injury. She can write eloquently despite her supposed nonverbal autism and low IQ. She apparently has a life-threatening need for a feeding tube despite weighing as much as 3 normal people. This mysterious case could provide insight into many disorders... if she wasn't faking it.

http://abaggs.blogspot.de/ provides many accounts of other medical conditions that she's faked:

Then they brought in a neurologist. Soon after, with a little suggestion, Amanda started having "Seizures." When you seize, you fall over suddenly. You don't slump slowly and gracefully to the ground, avoiding hurting yourself. But now, she had "seizures"- she wasn't schizophrenic! A little depakote and all would be well! I don't doubt she may be having genuine seizures now. Enough meds, especially serious ones, and the brain can start to fry.

>Amanda had decided, sans eye exam, that she was having "eye trouble." Mom went right along. Did mom take her to Lenscrafters? Nope. They just stocked up on glasses from the drugstore. Then the Irlen lenses started (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irlen_filters). And the "sensory sensitivity". Amanda & her mom spent thousands on crap like special sunglasses, brushes, special incense, etc etc etc. They figured all of her problems were just that Amanda was "too sensitive."

> Also, minor point, but she claims her "stamina" issues were due to being underweight. Let me just say that the girl was never smaller than voluptuous.

The only disease that she actually seems to have is schizophrenia.

Her medical supply wishlist is really weird too. She's asking for gloves, medical tape, and some kind of abscess drainage system. If she was actually being treated by a home nurse/aide, wouldn't they provide the supplies themselves? I don't think they would make purchasing important medical supplies the responsibility of someone who apparently can't manage to shit in a toilet.
