Most of the other anecdotes are semi-anonymous, with the exception of high-profile cases like Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
(Also I made a mistake in my last post: he called her Natalie Johnston, not Johnstone)

yeah i just read it on google books, its fairly accurate just with the dates adjusted slightly ( she started claiming to be autistic in 99, one of her web pages she made ten was all about her supposed severe autism) and the names changed, i was like holy shit, and yet still no youtubers or anyone who calls out fakers has ever mentioned amanda baggs it is just unreal, maan, so crazy.
 
I know she's been dead for five years but I always thought she was fairly similar to Rachel Dolezal and Gypsy Rose. All women when you think about played a character whether it was mentally challenged or black. All were frauds.

I don't believe Amanda Baggs was even a Munchie, she was a performer/pretender that had motives of financial gain and even fame (which she got for a very short time).

I think about her every once in a while too. All the other illness faker cows pale beside her.

I hope her family and former friends (like the ones who wrote in to that blogger revealing her fraud and drug abuse) have managed to move on with life a little lighter than they felt before.

That's why I made the Gypsy Rose comparison, who I think was more similar to Amanda than the munchies.

Lots of Munchies do actually believe themselves to be ill, even when they're not because they're you know.. mentally ill. Amanda was much more of a fraud playing a game with people.

She was kind of ill enough that she actually fucking died, even though she deliberately caused her own illness.

But did Amanda believe she Autistic? Don't think so. Did she honestly believe she had a stomach disorder that required a tube? Probably not. She accidentally killed herself but it was part of the act of the "sickness". I have known munchies who genuinely believe themselves to have half of what they claim to have and distressing for them.

well yeah, Amanda was a munchie, she performed and pretended, as well as self induced health issues to get those gains and the attention, that's a huge component to being a munchie. and she played up this mess for years, basically from the early 2000s until she died, she fancied herself as a peer advocate for the disabled. she had many many people and organizations fooled for almost 20 years.
