Her behavior started in the late 90s, far before Tumblr or even Wikipedia. Her autism self-diagnosis, specifically, happened after she got to know a number of autistic people in a special needs program (which she was in for schizophrenia). The fact that so many people fell for it owes mainly to her impression's flaws not being immediately suspicious to the layman, and insufficient research by various media outlets into her history (she actually tried to mislead people into believing she always had autism before being called on it).Everything about this woman just screams "I sit at home and google possible symptoms so I can find new medical reasons for my life failures". How on earth does she expect people to believe she suddenly developed such severe autism that she became mute, simultaneously dropping a decent amount of IQ points and yet is still capable of writing essays of fluent text exploring "higher concepts"?
Oh wait because tumblr.
As somebody who actually has Irlen's Syndrome I have no idea how she got away with that. In order to get the prescription glasses (assuming they weren't just coloured sunglasses) you actually have to be diagnosed by a licensed optician, normally after being tested for dyslexia. One of the tests involves you reading out a short paragraph with and without a filter to establish whether there's a difference in reading speed. How exactly did our non-verbal snowflake manage that? I highly suspect a certain someone was reading through the wikipedia page and noticed it mentioned a possible link between irlens and autism
Apparently the "Bard College at Simon's Rock" that this hambone attended is not the same Bard College that Reuben G. Baron attended. Otherwise I'd say there's something they put in the lunch meat over there that turns kids into stuttering/nonverbal, hairy, unibrowed autists.
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't some autists just not care about appearance? Either way, yeah this caricature is super insulting
I can't help thinking of a hairier female version of Martian from Human Centipede 2.She looks like the lovechild of Milton from Office Space and Hitler.
I'd still do her, though.
Anyway, I have a whole bunch of questions about this craziness from a personal and professional standpoint. When and how did she get to Vermont? That's my biggest one. When did she stop speaking? When did she decide "hey, let me crap myself"? Where's mom now?
Here is the link http://www.slate.com/articles/healt...itated_communication_work_and_who_speaks.htmlslate said:I exchanged emails with one of her old acquaintances. Although he confirmed that the statements he wrote online were accurate, he couldn’t say anything else: Baggs’ lawyer had contacted him and warned that such statements could result in legal action.
Yep this was me after I saw 5 posts. She is disgusting.I saw this and threw up, thanks Kiwi farms.
She appearntly has a lawyer who has track down people to tell them not to talk about the "before time"

I really want to see the CNN interview
There's links to a lot of the CNN stuff in the wikipedia entry and the callout blogspot. I'd find them for you, but my wifi's being a cunt and I'm typing this on my phone rn.I really want to see the CNN interview
No, not Autism Speaks. Amanda is with the Neurodiversity movement, organizations like Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, Not Dead Yet, which are run by autistic people. Autism Speaks is mostly parents, and isn't really big on things like self-advocacy or disability rights, so a lot of autistic people don't like them. It's a complicated issue.2: Were these advocates Autism Speaks? Cause fuck them.

Nominally run by autistic people, mind you. There's a long-standing problem with self-diagnosers and fakers like her trying to get a piece of the autistic pie. Autism activism is in a messy place right now.No, not Autism Speaks. I can't believe you didn't mention that on her blog she's talking about how the drainage bag (you know, a bag of pee flappin' in the breeze) and the suspenders in this picture makes her look like a cyborg.
I think that she wants to look as repulsive as possible in order to lose privilegeI know that when you're ill (which she seems to be at least in some way) fashion is usually put aside for comfort and convenience, but...why does the pee bag need to be out like that.
