Huh, I always figured that Barb would have to die before Chris became homeless... who would have thought that Barb being in the picture is actually worse as far as keeping the house goes?

Almost looks like he's holding back cracking a smile in some of the parts in the beginning and middle, asking for money. It's like there's a gene in the Chandler family that makes them physically incapable of understanding money. They just do things and don't think of consequences, Barb just takes out mortgages when she needs a little extra dosh, with no thought of paying it back.

I would pay Christian money if he provided some good or service in return, depending on the desirability of that good or service of course.

What he means is Barb is bugging him for rent money, but he's already spent all his tardbux on toys and digital games. Naturally he'll resort to begging to cover the difference, because that lets him have his cake and eat it too.

The reasoning behind his shifty eyes is because he is lying.

Moments of notable shiftyness due to lying or trying to make something up:
"Christine Chan 0:02"
[Before raising arm and starting spiel 0:06]
"Scrounge, scrounge up the money locally 0:12/0:13"
"We could really use more help now 0:35"
"Happy Thanksgiving" 0:45. (Not lie but rather a coy 'Heh yeah right')

The thing that really gets me is 0:15 "We should could use a lot more help."
This statement isn't a lie, Chris is aware (at least on a subconscious level) that he and Barb are in dire straights.

Its subtle, but you might notice the slight change in voice and the look in his eyes at that moment.
He is indeed in trouble, however that is because the culmination of his current life events; not because of "A jerk is being mean, and we have no money". This is the subconscious realization of adulthood stress stemming from poor choices, a normal human reaction. Which is nice to see in my favorite little psych monkey, however the overbearing presence of his conscious Ego and childish mind perverts that normal progress and twists it into a self pity party.

There is a capable mind beneath the garbage heap, however the mental horde blocks it from ever blossoming; the physical horde of horrid lifestyle, coupled with adulthood stresses of non compliance in society absolutely stifles the normality within Chris.

It truly is sad, given good therapy Chris COULD become a functioning member of society, however the other factors negate that possibility.
