I’ve acquired the amount of superchats Nich has gotten from this year from Playboard and man... hate to say it but the grift works….
He’s the 20th most superchatted channel in the US now (in 2025 at least).
I know YouTube takes a cut off of these, but consider the money he gets from his ad revenue and memberships, he probably earns a lot more than this.

I don’t know chat, would you simp for Ethan Klein for 300K-500K USD per year?

I’ve always said that I can never really blame a commentator for doing what makes money. It’s objectively the smart thing to do. Do I find the content super entertaining? No. Do I hope the meta will change? Yes. Do I blame people for not turning down easy money? No.

And I think the meta will change. The gimmick of long form content used to be “wow this guy made a whole documentary about a stupid topic!!!” But now everyone does long video essays and to hit that gimmick it has to be over 24 hours (or shorter if it’s really packed with content like the star wars hotel video)

People always love background noise, that’s never going away. Especially as things go longer, I might sit and watch a 20 minute video but I can’t do that for 2 hours all the time. Stream clips are good for that because you usually don’t have to watch the screen and the creator can pump them out while hitting two audiences.

The problem is that it is replaceable. Background noise is background noise, streaming builds an audience, but the vods don’t really. And this goes for essay channels too. On the off chance I watch one now, I usually forget I even saw it by the next week and definitely cannot tell you who made it. I think with the IA coverage a lot of people have been saying this (Nick included now that Tom isn’t doing it lol). The copy paste video essays with a team of writers are really boring.

It gets old. People are getting tired of only having background noise. They want something short and to the point to watch on their lunch break. The amount of times I have watched a video from a new creator and just seen hundreds of comments saying “thank you for speaking like a human and not making this three hours long” or some variation of that is insane, to the point it’s become one of the generic youtube comments I expect to see.

I think across all media people are getting really tired of drawn out storytelling for engagement. In movies and shows people want shorter runtimes, one season contained stories, documentaries instead of docuseries. And I think this trend will hit youtube in the coming year. Please.

The crazy part is that he left for 2 years and only returned when the MamaMax shit happened.

Nich has luckily found a niche, which is being a liberal but edgy H3 orbiter, which is what separates him from people like Asmongold. I said this before but I don’t think DeOrio can be easily taken down because he’s very good ad morphing into a new meta unlike Bowblax. I think he might somehow implodes his own career in the foreseeable future though, perhaps by getting things wrong.

Yes. Do I blame people for not turning down easy money? No.
I understand why money changes people, so I understand why he took the opportunity, but I will still make fun of him for it. And his luck can only last for so long...

By “left” he means he was just less active than normal, he uploaded to his second channel.

D'Angelo Wallace no longer looks like a lesbian aunt and says you're dumb:
He has a septum piercing and hand tattoos now. Also bald.

This is the other major benefit of livestreaming, Nick’s said this himself, there’s less credibility. You’re doing everything live, giving takes in an environment where people already know you haven’t done the research. If you get something majorly wrong you just don’t clip it and clarify next stream.

I think he’ll be fine. Worst case scenario his new H3 audience blows up in his face (and it will, same way it did for Ethan) but he’ll pivot I think.

If anything does him in I think it will be the fracturing of commentary. Yes, branching out has gotten them bigger audiences (and that’s breathed some new life into the community) but it means they have less overlap. The commentary community was a community, that means a lot of infighting but it also means having allies. When everyone has a more or less shared audience, as long as you never burn bridges (which like Ive said I really don’t think will be an issue for Tom Nick and Augie) your friends can step in to play defense very effectively and you retain a lot of people.

The people who got exiled have been freaks, of course, but having the biggest livestream and video creators on the same team helps a lot.

But Tom’s audience is now majority non commentary, most of them don’t even know about Pyro. Nick’s audience still has a lot of pre-2020 commentary fans but is pretty ehd dominated now. And Augie keeps leaving us for his second family.

I think the end point of this sektur is one of them getting into a huge drama (my bets are on Tom, not even for anything wrong, probably n word pt 2 if dangelo is back, I just think his audience is untenable) but at that point the audiences are so separate that they can no longer effectively use their fanbases to defend that person and it becomes unrecoverable.

Maybe that would prompt a commentary comeback with a smaller audience, I don’t really think commentary will be around by then. If it is it will be with totally different creators. Out of my irl friends who still watch commentary, I think all have stopped watching Tom already, and fatigue for others is starting to hit. A good amount, even ones who have no clue what kiwifarms is, are switching over to kino casino or random small commentators I haven’t heard of.

If commentary implodes I think people will pivot like they have been already. Tom keeps making boring essays. Augie already has a totally unrelated channel. Chud I don’t think can pivot as well, maybe just becomes a trending topic/politics guy again. Bigbunjee does more of the same, I think he can survive independently he kinda is already. The small commentators will keep writhing over eachother until the end of time. I think Nick would fully pivot to the Mauler sphere and make movie/tv show videos and streams. I would still watch probably, I liked his 13 reasons why video.

People slammed Nick for not getting into the mud during the Augie/WillyMac thing, him keeping clean makes me believe he's willing to pivot off into normiecore movie/TV stuff. His taste is horrendous, but I respect it - he's earned it by being the least annoying commentator for the last three years.

I'd say Tom is the most likely to go down the drain, but his viewership hasn't taken a hit too much yet. I'm interested in where he's at mid-2026, people probably are picking up that he isn't writing scripts himself at this point and he doesn't even seem like he's interested in reading said scripts. Fucking the dog girl was the worst thing he ever did, and I suspect him getting cheated on by the girl Lerix is with now probably was the beginning of this rut for him.

His issue has always been he doesn't actually have a personality: he started apeing Metokur's mannerisms, then Sam Hyde, and then Destiny. It's unsurprising that now he's going at it mostly alone that there is no flavour, considering his past videos, approach and style were inspired by whoever he was obsessed with for that year.

Smaller channels in general seem like they're down the gutter. Kuihman is bleeding viewers (deserved, his shit sucks) and Chud is so predictable I could write you a script for his streams and get a 90% accuracy rate on what he says word for word. Lerix is cringe for crossdressing but a lot of relitigating that from the low-tier sloppers felt like jealousy that he escaped the pit of mediocrity and cut a niche for himself to make actual money. Dude understood DeOrio dominated the market share and actually made a smart call to get the fuck out.

I don't get the shock and horror that a European woman, who was 90, was racist. It would be surprising if she wasn't.

I do agree with some things he said but he's not the first one to think or say it, people have been making those points for years now.

But saying things like he was the first one to notice/make them up has always been DeAngelo's thing. Like I don't get why he was held up like the single person to expose Shane Dawson as "racist and problematic" when it was his whole comedic style. And many people criticized him for it before lol.

Also I laughed at all the comments calling him RuPaul because he does look like him.
