Also, to others, aside from politics the new Mississippi state flag is much better. The old one was nothing but a Confederate flag with extra fluff and that was the whole point. The new flag has a more striking design, has a nice use of symbolism with the Thirteen Colonies-like circle and the magnolia flower, it's really strong.

It's also a reference to Mississippi's first state flag used in 1861-1865. That one with the Battle Flag wasn't even adopted until 1894.

Pretty good list, I mostly agree. I'm from NC, and I think ours is pretty nice. I saw someone online once called it "reverse Texas" and I can live with that. I'd be more inclined to fly an NC flag than a US one, honestly. I don't have any sense of overwhelming hate to my country (well, I do to certain aspects of it), but I definitely feel far more connection to my state, even with all its flaws.

The Confederate Battle Flag looks ugly, and the actual Confederate flag also looks ugly. If you want to express southern pride go fly your state flag, although chances are that your state flag is also ugly. Idk, just fly the Blue Bonnie flag then.

I don't really have as much of an aversion towards it as I do with the Nazi flag. If I see someone waving a Nazi flag, I immediately think "That guy's a hardcore racist" whereas if I see someone waving the dixie flag I'm like "Eh that guy might be racist or just proud of being a Southerner". Though it's pretty hilarious to reply with "farming equipment" to some redditor saying "States' rights to do WHAT?" or "Just like people waving palestinian flags" to "Confederates lost lol". I'm not a Southerner so I guess I can't comment on it. It probably means something to those people, so why try to police it?

God, Maine really ruined a great flag. It was an evergreen tree and they turned it to some overcomplicated shit with a lobsterman and a lumberjack.
