I have this soft, little, yellow toy rabbit with a rattle inside that's over 30 years old at this point. I've looked online multiple times over the years to see if I could find another like it, but I've never been successful. It's definitely more of a baby toy than a regular stuffed animal based on the rattle inside, but I've kept it for my whole life.

It's about 5-6" tall, can rattle very loudly and made of a soft fabric that feels cool to the touch. I'd be curious to know if anyone has ever had the same one.

Lol so guess this explains a lot.

I don't think my parents ever caught wind of this since I still kept my doll, but I also didn't abuse the thing to where it leaked water and I never got sick from it. I think I remember once hearing sloshes of water inside it as a kid, just didn't think it was that big of a deal and it apparently helped with the purring aspect. The deflating is probably due to the water evaporating/leaking out or something.

EDIT: Oh that was for the first wave of the dolls, mine was second wave, then.

That being said - if anyone knows of some reptile or ocean animal plushes, preferably realistic or weird looking ones, I would be grateful forever.

They're not realistic, but Amuse (the Alpacasso company) makes a bunch of sea animal plushies.

I actually got my first Jellycat today - the squiggle kitty. It's super soft. At the store I got Squiggle at, there was another stuffed animal I had my eye on by a company I'd never heard of called Bunnies by the Bay. It's a company moreso aimed at babies and toddlers, but the plushies are adorable and soft. https://bunniesbythebay.com/

Left is the Squiggles kitty, right is a Bunnies by the Bay dog stuffed animal.

ETA: Honeymaru makes a cute axolotl.

About half of them that I have. More just don't sleep on my bed, yes they take up half of my queen bed. I'm actually getting a twin bed so soon i'll have to find something new for them to sleep on.
STUFFED GUINEA PIGS!!!!!
Guinea pigs are my FAVORITE animal, where did you get those???

Edit: also, actually reading your comment, have you thought about a plushie net? When I was a little kid, my parents installed hooks in the ceiling/corner of my bedroom and hung a mesh net on 3 points and that was where my stuffed animals stayed. It kept them in one place, out of the floor, and it was still accessible to get them out.

Had quite a few as a kid, but they've long since gone. I had a white bear named Snow that I had from birth that was well loved. Don't remember the others that well. But I do have 3 currently.

One's more of a decoration: he's a plush Santa who hangs out on my couch when I decorate for Christmas and stays there until I pack up the decorations. He lost his bag, but he's held up well. His hat's puff is a little discolored because my autistic ass would chew on it when I was little. He's been around every Christmas since I was about 3, my mom bought him one year from the photography studio that took our photos that year.

I have a plush Totoro I bought at a pop up con for sentimental reasons. He hangs out next to the TV. It was the first anime I'd ever seen and started me on the path to weebdom. Also I usually watched the film with my dad and brother when I was little, so. it takes me back..

Finally, a Snivy I got at an anime convention the year Black and White came out. He's still my favorite Pokémon, and his measurements are accurate to the Pokedex measurements. He's in my bedroom since he has the perfect proportions to lay in the crook of my arm. The slight pressure on my left shoulder helps me relax enough to sleep. I'm touch starved, yes. Sue me.

Part of me wants to get a plush tanuki since it's my favorite yokai (they understand what's important in life: booze, money, and mocking idiots) but I never came across any I like.

Just out of curiosity, can I ask what you had against your polar bear that you never loved him? : (
I guess "didn't love him" was a bit too harsh. I was just too young to get an autistic over-attachment to him I guess? But by the time I was a toddler, I could form really strong attachments to my toys and they were my friends. So I felt more attached to my second build-a-bear instead.

I don't have any but my cat has a stuffed tiger and a stuffed sheep that was passed down to him from my old cat when he passed away. You'll see him carry them around from place to place when he finds a new area to sleep.

Pets with their own stuffed animals are the cutest. My sheprador dog loved to tear up anything that wasn’t my Cheer Bear stuffed animal. She would take it into her doggy bed and sleep with her arm over it or had it cuddled to her body somehow, cutest thing ever.

I have far more than I'd like to admit, lest I be rated highly autistic. I got rid of most of my childhood stuffed animals when I became a teenager and I regret it tbh. So my collection now is about half old plushies, half recently purchased. Majority is webkinz because I'm a sentimental nostalgic zoomer. Here's my most recent addition.

I like pokemon plushies but collecting shit doesn't excite me anymore so I don't have many. I just have a Dragonite that sits beside my monitor and a kabutops and that's it.

I've bought my cousin a few pokemon plushies for christmas because he asked for them

I had a little horse that went on any trips I took as a kid. I recall taking it on the plane then smelling it afterwards to remember the trip. (Gross)

Looking through everyone's stories has unearthed some memories and old friends.

Mine also has a stuffed animal. It's a mouse she spotted in a bowl one day and her eyes lit up like I'd never seen before. She carries it around and screams during crazy time.

It’s funny to see dogs with stuffed animals too because like how do they choose which one is their snuggle buddy and which one they’re gonna rip up?
“All of these deserve the Monch & Cronch…except you little mouse friend you are mine and you will come with me everywhere.”

I feel like this thread needs to have a group voice chat on the website Dear Leader despises, where we read The Velveteen Rabbit together and bawl like little bitches who dropped their ice cream cones, and I mean that with nothing but love ♥️

The nieces keep picking out stuffed animals for my birthday or something, which is sweet but I wish they wouldn't. I know the thought process is "I LIKE IT=EVERYONE LIKES IT" but now I gotta store it, and be at risk for more because they can see I have it so therefore I must have a collection. So far, I've been able to rehome the previous stuffed animal when they buy me a new one.

Folkmanis makes puppets but they're basically plushies in their construction, and they have a really wide range of subjects. The really big ones might need a rolled-up sock for stability when a hand isn't in it.

Ah, yeah, we tried stuffed animals with my parent's dog. He was...not interested in stuffed animals. Except if they had a squeaker in them. But the little bastard didn't want the shell, no, he wanted the squeaky. So he'd tear up the animal with surgical precision you would only find in the most top rated hospitals in the world then walk around with the squeaker in his mouth squeaking it over and over. Then he'd be put out when we took that autistic dog's plastic squeaker so he didn't choke and then he'd piss on the carpet.

Normal ones though? He had a system. Eyes were the first to go, then the ears, then the mouth. Then he disemboweled them and left the stuffing all over the house. Terriers man, not even once.
