Ghostwire getting a sequel is all I care about. Japanese Creepypasta Simulator round 2 let's goooo.

Also curious to see how badly they're going to fuck Dishonored 3 after Redfall and Deathloop shat the bed. Arkane is dead.

unironically stoked for a FO3/Oblivion remaster. Yeah, they'll probably fuck it up, but fallout specifically barely runs on modern hardware.

Nintendo and Valve are both ridiculously profitable.

Nintendo has had problems in the past with hardware sale numbers but they always sell systems for profit (I think) unlike PS pr Xbox. That means even failures like the Wii U can still make money, it also means that they never really eat into the money from their successes like say the Wii. The Switch is insanely popular and I have no reason to think that it's successor won't sell well either so I have no idea why MS thinks Nintendo needs to drop their own hardware. Sure if this was still the Wii U or even GameCube era then I could see the logic but the Switch has sold around double what Xbox has for the last two gens.

Nintendo also sits on a massive amount of popular and insanely lucrative IP. Pokémon and Mario are money making titans on their own much less Zelda, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong‎, Kirby and a bunch of other shit. Nintendo is a franchise juggernaut that only Disney's golden age could measure up to.

Valve does occasionally make games and hardware but they are in a position where they can just sit back and rake in ludicrous amount by doing nothing. Valve literary owns the PC games market and unlike MS they haven't felt the need to destroy it with short-sighted policies.

That's not even mentioning the stock structure of either companies. Valve is 100% owned but Gabe Newell and Nintendo partly owned by the Yamauchi family (I think anyway).

I don’t know whose been lying to you but Outer Worlds is so much more of a piece of shit than anything BGS has done. Outer Worlds is basically playing a game in the Rick and Morty Universe but with no actual player choice that matters. Hate the characters in modern Beth games? 1000% worse in Outer Worlds.

PSA: People I know it’s hard for you to understand this but stop making stupid statements like this one lol. Obsidian has long since lost the people that made the games you like and the few that are still there are either unable to do anything or are just as responsible. If you don’t believe me actually play Outer Worlds instead of listening to the retards in the Beth thread that game is fucking horrible.
*insert meme about how game studios used to be run by geeky White guys and hard-working Asians and and are now run by narcissistic corpo trannies*

seriously I’ve been looking for that meme for a while lol

Phil Spencer May 2022 "we are in a disaster situation" "a gap of almost 16 months with no exclusives" "Our next big game launch is Redfall"

Arguably Fallout 3 'needs' a remaster more than New Vegas. Fallout 3 runs like shit on my computers and crashes regularly even with bug fixing patches. New Vegas meanwhile runs very well for what it is, with only the community bug fix installed.

Is that why they're remastering it? Of course not, but Im trying to find the silver lining.
New Vegas actually runs well on the Xbox One X tbh. A few bugs, but goofy ones, not " I'm having a fucking memory leak" type shit where I can't beat the game. That and the shittiness is kinda part of New Vegas's charm.
That's not even a box anymore
I know! It's like they thought the fridge meme was a negative thing ! No! I loved that shit man. Especially when they actually made mini fridges.

the only reason i bought a Xbox sex or whatever it's called is because the damn bluray players are such crap now adays that to get something halfway decent you're paying xbox prices anyway
The 4k player is such a huge sell. Watch great movies in great quality AND get a console. No internet needed.
Why the fuck would SONY be to0 damn cheap to make it play CDs? They own music! I guess they don't want you 2 CDs.

I'll admit i'd probably have grabbed a gaystation if it had been in stock, but it was the middle of covid and I had to bounce and make sure there was a bluray player in the house or the kids would go batshit, and I didn't know enough about the console wars to know how badly xbox was getting trounced.
A lot of blu ray players in general are moving away from playing CD's tbh. Sadly Sony isn't doing anything unusual

I've been thinking about the past, present and future situation of Xbox at microsoft, especially in light of these leaks and a ton of stuff just made sense.

There's an internal war going on at Microsoft. They want to jettison the hardware business, but they can't do so until cloud gaming/subscription services reach a self-sustaining level.

So you have one group of people trying to keep hardware afloat while tanking the cloud-based side enough to stay in a job. And another group of people that are trying to tank the hardware side while pumping up the rookie numbers of cloud and subscription-based gaming.

Looking at MS decisions through that lens makes a whole load of sense and makes me wonder if Sony are in a similar position.

Cloud gaming is still very far off, and I am someone who uses it regularly.

Look at the quality on the text here. The bethesda logo is grainy, the syncing is blurry. This is fine if I want to pull it up on my steamdeck or laptop for a bit, but even with my internet speeds it cant produce decent quality picture. I wont even get into the insane queue times xcloud has had since starfield launched, or how shit the latency has been.

I am pretty sure my speeds are not the norm in the States, I cant imagine what someone with bad speeds does when trying to use this.

Although they have plenty of content mills, Sony is historically a hardware company so it's going to be more entrenched.
I wonder if it's the other way around at Sony then? One group are determined to keep it hardware and jettison the digital shit, while the other group are determined to get rid of the hardware.

It would make sense with Jim Ryan making such retarded moves as to bring everything to PC (which is 99% digital), push PSN+ tiers and launch a console with no disc drive.

Tinfoil hat:

Streaming is due for a major renaissance in how it works and MS, like they always do, came up with the solution but borked the implimentation. They were supposed to have Crackdown 3 with updated visuals from the cloud, something that in theory could happen and I believe we may see it with Sony's new handheld.

Remember years ago when you had to download a game fully before you could play it? Now you can download the base game while the 4k textures download in the back ground? We could have that but with streaming. You stream the core instance of the game, which is save to RAM or SSD, then the streaming builds up on that framework as you play the game.

You don't download it, you stream it bit by bit. Add some fuckery with loading pages, splash screens and convoluted menus to waste time while the game streamloads in the background.

I'm not sure it's a war. They seemed to have a broad, properly hedged approach to things. They bought Gaikai, one of the early streaming services and turned into a tool with which they could 'solve' some backward compatability problems. In the days of OnLive that's a massive success.

absolute faggotry, though in their favor it might not be entirely a "we don't want to pay royalties" as I can't believe anything involving CDs (nuts) is still patented.

CDs probably require a different lens/laser or some shit, but I played audio CDs on the xbox and didn't even remotely consider it might not work.

I'd imagine just having four formats gets complicated, and it's cost cutting on sony's part. It's faggotry, clearly they don't have to do it, but they want just a little extra cash. I just know if I get a Series X, it's gonna be pre refresh

I can agree with this, though who else can write an FPS RPG? I think the root cause of all problems is that RPG has been over-used so much (even COD is an rpg) that no one can make RPG's anymore.
Truthfully I don’t know maybe a Slav game studio? Idk the top Kiwi Autists will have to come together and give us the perfect developers lol.

to my mind, the only extant hopefuls are the Tainted Grail guys, who are making an Elder Scrolls clone as a sequel to their debut game, a roguelike card battler (lol). apart from them, there are the German autists who made Enderal, but that was a while ago now, it seems they're working on some goony raft building game now? also, shout out to James Wragg AKA Lovely Hellplace, the developer of Dread Delusion, a schizo Scrolls clone with a bit of Cruelty Squad fuck-your-eyeballs energy. or maybe the Legend of Grimrock guys could spring back from the grave and carry the flag.

comedy option: the Kingdom of Loathing guy.

Playstation has been doing everything it can to jettison its history and shut down tons of boxed game developers to go big on live service games and chasing the chinese market
