You can say about Obsidian's output what you want, but at least they released four games under Microsoft, and a fifth is on its way.

I wish Avalanche would make another Mad Max game.
No you don't.

We saw with Rage 2 that Avalanche couldn't manage a project like Mad Max today.
They needed id Software to salvage the FPS elements, but the rest fell short.
Mad Max, Avalanche's best game in my opinion, is elevated by its driving, physics, and art, none of which Avalanche was able to replicate.

And then there is the elephant in the room:

And they were all shit, destroying whatever goodwill and prestige the company once had.

They were all shit and i hope ms kill them next before they ruin something cool like alpha protocol
I wouldn't worry all that much.

Not only does modern Obsidian lack the skill, dedication and passion to make something like Alpha Protocol (or New Vegas, or Mask of the Betrayer, or KOTOR2), but they obviously have no wish to make any such games anymore.

Both Outer Worlds and Avowed felt like games they were forced to make because that's what the Obsidian of old was known for, and they were written and designed to spite the audience. What they seem to want to make is faggot sims like Pentiment or shitty multiplayer slop like Grounded, which resonates with their moronic female workforce.

President of Xbox joins Tyson board of directors

Board Chairman John H. Tyson, the grandson of the company's founder, said Bond has "proven management strength" and is a wonderful fit on the board.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The President of Xbox, a multi-billion-dollar gaming business owned by Microsoft, has joined the board of directors at Arkansas-based Tyson Foods.

Tyson announced Aug. 7 that Sarah Bond had been appointed as an independent director effective immediately, joining the likes of former Arkansas governor Mike Beebe, former FedEx president David Bronczek, former Cisco Systems COO Maria Martinez, and over a dozen others on the board.

The company said in a release that Bond joined Microsoft in 2017 as a corporate vice president and had previously held leadership roles at T-Mobile and McKinsey & Company.
Bond also serves as the vice chair of the board of the Entertainment Software Association and is a board member for the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

"As President of Xbox, Bond leads the organization driving Xbox’s innovation and growth across hardware, software and services as part of Microsoft’s global $23 billion gaming business," the release said.

Board Chairman John H. Tyson, the grandson of the company's founder, said Bond has "proven management strength" and is a wonderful fit on the board.

“Sarah is dynamic and passionate," Tyson said. "As our management team, members of the board and the Tyson family got to know Sarah, we immediately felt that she would be a tremendous addition to Tyson Foods."

Bond said she's happy to join the board at Tyson Foods.

"Tyson Foods is a world-class food company with iconic brands, and I am delighted to join the board and support the company as it continues to execute its long-term growth strategy with customers and consumers."

Pentiment is genuinely a great narrative game. I recommend it to anyone who wants a historically accurate medieval story that shows respect to the people of the era and does its best to show how they lived and viewed the world. Definitely a passion project by a smaller team; and better for it. Never cared for any Obsidian game before or since.

Outer Worlds was Tim Cain's(original creator of Fallout) baby, and the reason it failed was because he had retarded millenials and diversity hires to work with and he didn't push them hard enough to do their damn jobs. Avowed, on the other hand, was going to be some sort of MMO but got turned into a half-assed single player game by what appears to be the B-Team(sort of like Dragon Age: Veilguard). Both of these are outliers, shit like Grounded or Pillars of Eternity 2 is clearly what nu-Obsidian wants to do as Pentiment was Josh Sawyer's game(I believe) and Outer Worlds 2, once again, is getting made largely thanks to Tim Cain, even tho he doesn't work in the company anymore he is still being consulted heavily and likely wouldn't even be developed without his insistence. I don't even know what their plan going forward is, unless Grounded 2 is a live service game with battlepasses and such, in that case there is your answer. The only reason games like Avowed or Outer Worlds 2 even continued to be developed was because they were being worked on for years beforehand, starting a new project in the state of the company now would be a whole another matter.

Wasn't Grounded 1 already a live service game with paid cosmetics? Surely the gameplan is just do that again?

while I am not a fan of the ROG Xbox Ally not being able to run your console library outside of whats on Game Pass for the most part, it being able to run your steam library makes up for it, regardless I do hope they integrate it at some point where you can just run whatevers on the Series S/X is playable on the handheld, probably not going to buy it at least at launch
obsidian peaked with alpha protocol and new vegas. those games are fucking great and its a shame they will never reach those highs again.
im not a New Vegas fan specifically but yeah Obsidian used to make gems like KOTOR II, now theyve fallen and probably are the least interesting of all the studios Xbox has purchased, I had some cautious optimism for Outer Worlds 2 previously, but the voice acting is cringey, and I cant see it being anything more then a smaller map Fallout game at best as much as I hate to say it

Its a handheld computer with an Xbox sticker on it, its not an Xbox and it never will be unless you put Xbox 1 roms on it.

Even worse is that the 360 marketplace was still highly profitable. The week before they shut it down they also got a massive surge in sales, probably enough to keep it afloat for another decade. But even if they had kept it open it wasn't a complete archive of 360 games. They had lost tons of the Arcade and On Demand titles due to licensing issues over the years. Probably 25% of all 360 games were removed from the store in the years before Microsoft finally closed it for good.
So many titles, big and small, now gone because of a discontinued storefront from MS that they refuse to upkeep.

Xbox is a terrible games publisher Just look at Rare when they were by nintendo nothing but classics but when they got bought by microsoft notting but flops

Well to be fair, a smaller sized Fallout game is pretty much what the first game is, so I guess it's par for the course, at least.
There is a chance this game will be very similar to the first Outer Worlds in fact, since I assume the game was originally a third expansion pack that was cancelled and turned into the sequel, or at least merged with it. I have no evidence for this, but the similarity to the first game along with my intuition tells me this might be the case. If you go back in time to 2021 when support ended with the last DLC, the hype for Outer Worlds 1 was already dead, so recycling what they had for the sequel would have been a wise choice.

Your Outer Worlds 2 companions sir:
