Dare I say I'm actually interested in the Xbox Ally. I really liked the normal Z1E Rog Ally despite it's flaws ( Windows bloat, occasional system crashes, unoptimized gaming experience etc).

The Xbox Ally seems to fix most of the early models problems, and the new optimized windows gaming mode looks really good ( a genuine Steam OS competitor ).

Guess I'll be buying one.

Coming up on 4 years of owning a Switch OLED, it still looks spectacular and spoils every other screen I own barring Steam Deck OLED. I won't be buying a laptop without a quality OLED screen going forward let alone a gaming handheld.

Every Xbox game is available on PC, if it isn't available for purchase on Steam you can always emulate it.

I think the problem here is a philosophical one.

In my view Xbox has always been just a PC in console format . The original name for Xbox was literally DirectX Box .

I think hardware like the Xbox Ally ( PC hardware in console format ) is the future Microsoft had planned for the Xbox brand from the beginning , but maybe that's just my subjective interpretation on this subject.

If you're going about it that way, every console is a PC, just with a locked down OS. Thr point is asinine when I can't just pop in a disc or download the ROM and run it natively.

Gears of War Reloaded doesn't run very well and to my chagrin the pc version on gamepass is also missing split-screen co-op. I smell jeetery at work.

I know that @30+GameOvers claims to have played it, but I honestly don't believe it because he thinks it's good.

The thing is that Microsoft can easily afford to keep the prices low. They sit on a lot of unsold Xbox consoles that is already in US, that have been there before all this tariffs talk.
