I'm glad I bought my Series X (Diablo IV) when it was $399. Buying an Xbox Series now is not worth it because A) the base price of the less powerful Series S could've bought you an X two, three years ago so it's not an "affordable" option anymore and B) the Xbox brand is pivoting itself as a third party publisher and a GaaS model with Game Pass.I still don't own a Series X and at this point I never will.
GTA VI won't do anything for Xbox because Sony had enough sense to hitch their wagon back up with GTA 5 years ago.I cannot see MS being a console manufacturer after the next console generation. Maybe GTA VI will carry the tide for PS5s/Series S|X's, but even so, that game may just be $100.
Now you have to pay more for a new Xbox that has ads baked in and you can’t disable ads.
What would GTA 6 have to do with console sales?I’m hoping GTA6 will finally be the moment when Sony and Microsoft realize this whole “making consoles” thing isn’t working out because it didn’t sell five gajillion copies at $100 each like they thought it would. Who thought two price increases on a five year old console would be a good idea? Who thought one price increase would be a good idea, even with tariffs?
Many believe that GTA VI is the last AAA "legacy" IP that could be a true system seller, mostly because so many games this generation were cross generational when it counted, and by the time they started releasing real "exclusives" the IP's had seemingly lost their clout. What would GTA 6 have to do with console sales?
GTA VI doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It will be the culmination of everything wrong with the gaming industry: development hell, extravagant budgets, shifting social climate, massive anticipation, inflation from price points, live service engagement. But honestly, I think even if GTA VI does sell a bajillion I don't think it means much for the future. Everything that isn't GTA V that has spent hundreds upon hundreds of millions has seemingly been a failure. This sort of business isn't sustainable, and on top of that the trends of the gaming consumer have shifted. Billion dollar graphics and long, drawn out narratives are nice and all, but they don't mean much to the retard willing to spend 750 on a PS5 for clout.
There's also the proverbial elephant in the room, how do you motivate someone that has sunk hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars into GTA: O to migrate to GTA: Online 2?GTA VI won't come close to that level of success. Can't catch lightning in a bottle twice. Either they don't change the formula (so why would people bother switching to it instead of sticking with what they already have?) or they change it up and people don't like it anymore.
Hot Coffee Mode. There's also the proverbial elephant in the room, how do you motivate someone that has sunk hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars into GTA: O to migrate to GTA: Online 2?
Imo, there is nothing that could make GTA 6 sell as much as GTA 5. GTA 5 released on 4 successful consoles + PC. GTA 6 will release on a really bad console generation from a sales standpoint and while the PC sales might be able to mitigate the damage, they can only do so much. It will sell, maybe even well, but not to what it needs to do for its budget. And that is not getting into players potentially hating the characters or the inability to be total assholes (it is a criminal simulator for Christ's sake!).As I understand it, Rockstar is not going to allow them to port over their inventory, because if they did that then the whales would have very little motivation to fork over cash, and it would instantly ruin whatever economy they've cooked up to push people to spend.
There's also the fact that GTA 5 benefited from releasing cross platform, so many people bought it for the previous gen, and then again for the then current gen consoles.
Also, there's the overarching issue that Rockstar is a company at war with itself. Half the company wants to make meticulous and detailed world simulators that allow the player to truly immersive themselves in a dynamic and reactive world, the other half wants to write gay communist "white man bad" movies, and don't like it when the player deviates even one step from their intended script.
Plus, the fact they've shoved some ugly goblina front and center in the marketing, despite their audience predominantly being heterosexual and male, and that the actress herself is busy being a leftist retard online does not bode well for a project 2 billion dollars in the hole, likely needing to maximize profits as much as possible.
They are not looking to make the budget back on sales. It will sell, maybe even well, but not to what it needs to do for its budget.
True but what if GTA 6 Online does not have the sales for whatever reason. Rockstar saw that 10 Billion and is expecting to do the same with GTA 6. However, what if there is lesser sales? Then the player base will be milked harder and harder and there will be drop-off which means there will be a death spiral. GTA O made that 10 billion because there was a lot of people playing and thus taking a bit from each was fine. If there is less for whatever reason, game is cooked. They are not looking to make the budget back on sales.
Reminder that GTA Online, to this point, has made nearly 10 BILLION dollars.

I prefer them White and blonde.>he doesnt want big titty latina chicks
gta 6 will be the last game i ever buy on a console so i guess they know their audienceThe gaming industry has LONG changed from when GTA V came out over a decade ago.
They are making the budget back on sales. GTA Online hasn't made $10,000,000 dollars - GTA5 has. GTA5 has sold 17,000,000 copies in the first week (before GTA Online was Online) for a the first billion in a week. There's a reason that GTA6 is priced at $79.99 and they're constantly showing off the single player. There's no official numbers of how many units were moved beyond there, but I think if you guesstimate that 17 million in a week would let you get to ~70 million in a year for four billion dollars before a single shark card is sold. They sold 215,000,000 copies of GTA5 and it's a major part of the 10 billion dollars number. They are not looking to make the budget back on sales.
