Who knows maybe in the future the 360 will be a rare collectors console due to the early models not being reliable.
Of course in general the optical drive based consoles have their disk drive as a point of failure, that killed my PS2 slim back then. (That, and playing too much Budokai Tenkaichi 3.)

Not to mention the 20-30 years lag of nostalgia will be always at play.
There were tons of S and E models produced that never had any sort of widespread failure, and are objectively better than the older ones. They'll never get super valuable, unless you've got a limited edition. Like that Simpsons one, where only 100 were produced:

Before the pandemic, the 4GB models would go for as cheap as $60 at GameStop. When consoles get that cheap, it's worth just getting an extra one as a spare, since they're likely gonna sit there for a few years and then start crawling back up in value as people who grew up with one hit college age and start rebuilding their childhood library.

We're probably not gonna see 360s that cheap ever again, but PS4s and Xbox Ones will be in a few years, after the PS5s and Series hit their strides.

That was a GREAT game.
It sure was and I can't imagine why it never became a series, it got rave reviews and I never heard about it being a sales failure, but maybe it was?

I replayed it in 2017 and it still holds up as a fun game but graphically it's really begging for a modern engine, especially the Chicago area, are neon lights look so pretty in games today.

I just don't understand why Microsoft doesn't make another one, even if the first game wasn't a huge seller there's still a ton of potential, but again, I still don't get why there was never a sequel already, especially after somehting like Bioshock was big and retro futurism became a trend, I just don't get an ip as cool as Crimson Skies is going to waste.

I seem to recall it came out around the same time as some AAA title, which pretty well stole its thunder. Another game that happened to was Beyond Good and Evil; brilliant game, excellent reviews, poorly timed release.

I know it came out in 2003 but I forget the exact month, could it have been KOTOR?

I just don't understand why publishers aren't more willing to give things second chances, just putting a "2" in the title is going to get people's attention and make them assume a game is more worthy of attention if it managed to get a sequel even if the first one wasn't a major success.

Unless a game was just a massive failure you should only really call a series off if it fails twice, otherwise you're potentially missing a huge opportunity, somethings just need a dry run.

Oh man i remember when the xbox had games and wasn't a piece of shit. Good times.
So much potential wasted, Xbox could very easily have continued to be awesome.

One thing I don't understand is why Microsoft didn't make any official connection with Tecmo, Team Ninja and Itagaki, that would have helped their success in Japan and maybe they could have sorted out whatever beef was between Itagaki and Tecmo, Microsoft pissed away a golden opportunity by not getting Team Ninja and Itagaki officially on board as part of the Xbox brand.

Instead of getting good games like Ninja Gaiden all they started throwing up was Forza, Madden and NBA games then just netflix.

Blinx: The Time Sweeper and Oddworld Munch’s Odyssey were the only time XBOX original games were good. Next to Ninja Gaiden, it says a whole lot that Japan didn’t like the fat XBOX that much.

Xbox started winning in Japan once Sony cucked to having no big anime tiddy games and the xbox along with the switch said yes big booooba yummy and are faring much better.

That and an occasional Gears or Halo sequel, that's literally pretty much it (I mean, I guess there's also Sea of Thieves?)

It's actually kind of mind boggling how steep the drop off for Xbox was with the One from how creative they once were, they seemed like they were going to try when at E3 2014 they announced revivals of Crackdown, Phantom Dust and around that time Scalebound, then the Phantom Dust reboot and Scalebound were canceled and Crackdown 3 sucked, they literally just stopped trying for most of that gen.

Here's hoping they get their groove back with the Series X though, buying Bethesda and other devs definitely seems like they're going to try again.

They need to go all in on that, I'm serious when I say they need to get Itagaki and Tecmo on board and not only could we get a new Ninja Gaiden we could get a Dead or Alive Xtreme 4 now with topless mode after Microsoft greases the wheels and convinces CERO to allow toplesness.

Please bring back my yummy video game booba, Bill Gates.

ms stopped giving a shit halfway through the 360's lifecycle, the forza/halo/gears machine meme was already old when the one came out.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed Crackdown 2 over Crackdown 1. While C1 had more variety in how you take down the gang lieutenants and was graphically better, I just felt like C2 had polished up the gameplay in the areas that needed attention. I hated the driving in C1, it's so slippery and didn't feel very good to experience. The cars in C2 have alot more grip and it feels easier to do stunts in them.

Also Crackdown 2 got alot of flack for using the same map again, only with everything destroyed by the freaks. I played Saints Row The Third and SRIV and the amount of changes to Steelport makes the two versions of Pacific City look like whole new games (seriously, Steelport sucks balls) so I guess I appreciate Ruffian Game's efforts there. That and I'm a sucker for apocalypse stuff so I'm biased.

What timeline is this, because this didn't happen.

The biggest move that Xbox did was make a deal with some VTubers but they were the western ones not the actual vtubers that are big in japan. It hasn't moved the needle since it started.

The next garbage Neptunia and Senran kagura game is a playstation exclusive.

This has zero chance at happening, CERO is run by Sega. It would also not fly over well with the general population at all over there.

Porn games are regulated to the PC ghetto for a reason because most people don't want to see it.

Too bad Xbox peaked at the 360 (despite all the BS with RROD) and hasn't been good since. 2007 was one of my fondest years of gaming considering everyone I knew back then had a 360 and everyone was into Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Planet etc, it was just one big blockbuster game after another, but when the Kinect came out a few years later it only went downhill from there.

No Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath? That game was awesome.

Crimson Skies sold really well - I actually think the one thing holding up any sequel is there may be a rights issue. Specifically if Microsoft, the tabletop game, or the original creator owns the Crimson Skies IP.

Shame... amazing setting for a series.

I was under the impression Microsoft bought Fasa outright, including Crimson Skies.

If it sold well then why the flying fuck didn't it get a sequel?

That got ported to PS3 and got a physical release.

MO is supposedly the next game that's coming with the new remade Oddworld games, although Soulstorm may have not pulled enough numbers so it's kinda up in the air ATM.
