Just to inform people about where the $40k number came from. On reddit, some WWE users were pissed off that Scopely changed the VIP system. "I paid $X,000 to get my VIP to max and after the update, they bumped me down to VIP 8!" He then gave the number of VIP points required to advance to each level and the cost in real money to buy those points. The price was over $40k.

This shows that Scopely isn't above just changing how the game works at any time and forcing its whales to shell out tens of thousands to get to the top again. Oh, you have all the best wrestlers? Well, now we have even better wrestlers! Ten thousand dollars please!

They probably have shit in a 50+ page TOS that says they're allowed to do this, but it shouldn't be allowed at all. It should be considered criminal fraud considering the amounts of money involved.

The $40k was just the estimated amount for him to have reached VIP level 13. Beyond that, you'd have to go through each pay-to-win event and tally that up. That also doesn't include however much he spent before the VIP level cap increase, however much he spent on Supercard (he said thousands..so maybe tens of thousands?), DBZ Dokkan Battle, and Marvel: Future Fight. I'd feel comfortable putting the actual number spent on his mobile gaming addiction at north of $100k.

The total across all of the games that we know about is definitely over $100k if it can be assumed that all of that money from the vest streak went to Scopely, because that puts his figure for Champions alone at a minimum of $70k. And that's a pretty safe assumption because by all appearances, Phil would have absolutely no idea what the vest streak total roughly is without reading the Farms.

The sheer gall and extreme amount of this whaling is really the one and only halfway decent argument left against the account being his. I mean we all know dsp is dumb...but really?

I suppose this argument applies to everyone, in that a whale like this shouldn't even exist so its doesn't really help dsp out after all.

No, it's the biggest argument against it being anyone OTHER than Phil. A coincidence would've been obvious months ago and a troll is just plain impossible with that kind of financial investment. DSP simply doesn't rate for having the son of a Saudi prince fucking with him, which wouldn't even work anyway because we know how Phil is. I would be able to step right outside my front door and hear him howling at our expense all the way from Renton if this was all bullshit we were falling for.

The fact that the monkey on Phil's hairy back is a company like that is deliciously appropriate. It really is. He's getting utterly fucked by an entity just as callous, unscrupulous, and slimy as he is.

Amazing. DSP has someone who is such a fan that they draw someone who looks like this

like this

and he's so addicted to WWE Bejeweled he's attacking and ignoring the guy for questioning him.

MoronMoron appears to be a practiced amateur. He's obviously not professional level but he has spent some time honing his drawing and has a basic grasp of some fundamentals. Having said that his fanart at least still looks terrible since he's uncanny valleying it up, knowing some thing but not really executing them in the proper way leading to some funky looking illustrations if its not intentional.

Judging from his artwork he's at that stage where you don't yet know how to crank out good looking stuff rapidly and compensate with excessive detail and focus on technical side of things. Which means he's probably spending gobs of time on these disturbing pieces. Which means maybe he does or did yearn for something more than just being phil's court painter.

He's more likely to have a Saudi paypig give him a million than spend $100K just to fuck with him.

LMAO! The worst part is that those "new wrestlers" are basically the same wrestlers from different era's. They give you overmaxed 80's Hogan last month, but thats nothing compared to NWO Hogan this month!!

"If you thought 70's Flair was good 2 months ago, he has nothing on 80's Flair from last month!!! And that one has absolutely nothing on 90's Flair from this month!!!!

But just wait to see what we have in store for you next month, Champions!! Thats right, 2000's Flair!!! Wow holy shit!!! Just link your paypal accounts today!!!!"

Guys what if DSP is using our hate of him playing WWE Champions to give him the power he needs to become the best at the game? Owning the trolls by emptying his bank account. Sounds like a DSP move.

I couldn't care less what he spends his tardbux on, I don't hate that he does this. In fact, I love it, because it's hilarious to see the estimates of how much money he's wasted, his obvious avoidance of the subject to the point where he can't even say the name "WWE Champions", and the lengths he goes to do so.

This is a great arc. Keep giving Scopely that money, Piggy. We are loving watching you squirm.

I´m sorry, but I fail to understand how it could be a crime to milk stupid cashcows? Apple is doing something similar with their products and while there´s an argument, that the customer is buying a physical device(s) in that case, I think it´s fair to say that both are exploiting FOMO.

Shitty and predatory business practice, sure, but I wouldn´t really expect a provider of a mobile game with sweaty jpeg wrestlers to be some kind of paragon of virtue, on the contrary.

It's basically gambling just for nothing of value and that's regulated. I don't see what value comes to society whatsoever from allowing this kind of bullshit. How many kids end up on welfare because some scumbag took advantage of their addict parent?

I agree; the key question really is how many dependents are being impacted by this sort of thing. If you really want to piss away your rent money on this shit, I'm fine with that. If you have a kid, well, no.

I'd like to see some sort of "gambling limit" enforced, based on your taxable income, whether you have dependents, and whether you have a tugboat.

I know some Yurofag countries are really cracking down on gacha by either making it illegal or putting hard spending limits, in the USA I think a few providers also put limits on spending, but whether you're a Yurofag or Freedom Man we're still a long ways away from really cracking down on predatory gacha games.

I can't even see how it would be workable given how easily it could be bypassed with multiple accounts or vpns

Scopely is Ja$per's detractors. What a bunch of assholes.

I'd just like to see the general practices in these games banned or at least limited. Japan had a huge gacha problem and banned the worst of the practices. I think they'd run afoul of consumer protection laws in a lot of states, too. Just the practice of even calling them "free" when they really aren't, because the game is absolutely crippled without paying, is deceptive advertising. Devaluing things you have already acquired is also deceptive. In many states, just presenting a product as something it isn't is considered consumer fraud. Some of these laws have provisions like triple damages, too, so if you could find specific violations, their ripoffs could cost them dearly. I'm not sure how similar Japan's consumer fraud laws are to ours, but I bet an attack like Japan used could work, and is probably a model to look toward, because they have more experience with gacha shit, and it's still very popular there.

Just wanted to say I appreciate your thoughts on this subject and very much agree.
