I don't see it as "a lens of detraction content". I saw the videos as funny. As far as why i don't suspect the trolls to be correct, thats because i find the trolls to be hypocritical in a lot of ways, exaggerate a ton of things, and find many trolls to be mean people.
For example, people shit on phil for asking for tips, when a ton of other streamers also collect tips. Even the biggest streamers like esfand and asmongold collect tips. What they don't do is mention tips as much as Phil does.
People shit on Phil for being unoriginal, but will go and praise detractor restreams, which are the epitome of unoriginality. The argument for the restreaming is "it makes phil's streams more bearable" but from what I have seen that is simply not true, just by the fact that the restreamer will constantly interrupt in some way. If you are watching a video and i come in and talk every 3 seconds in your ear, make an annoying noise, play a lawnmower noise, talk to you while the person in the video youre listening to is talking, it doesn't matter if you hate the video, you will find my antics more annoying simply because you can't even concentrate on the source material.
As far as exaggeration goes, I've said before that i've gone to phil's streams and participate in them, but ive also come back here and looked at Surly Muppet's recap or others' reactions, and they seem to be exaggerated, either out of anger or entertainment. Like phil could ban someone, make 1 comment, and move on with the stream, and the way it's written here is "PHIL WENT ON A BAN RAMPAGE ACK ACK ACK" when in reality someone in chat posts something phil doesn't like and he's just like "alright looks like we got another troll", bans them, and moves on. While it can be funny once or twice, it gets annoying and exhausting to read some overly drawn out explanation for every minor noise that phil does. Like Phil could say something as benign as "Merry Christmas!" and there will be another 50 posts saying "Didn't Phil say he didn't celebrate Christmas?", "Didn't Phil say X back in Y?", "Phil is just trying to pander to the audience", "Phil is lazy", "Phil is fake, he doesn't want people to have a merry christmas remember when he insulted that one guy 10 years ago?". "Phil rocks back and forth on stream, does he have a disease?" "I bet that disease is X, i know a guy who also rocks back and forth and he has X". It just gets annoying as fuck.
Another example is the "machine learning analysis" thing. I saw that message saying "if anyone had any doubt" and then a picture of powershell output with some mention of "coeus" and saying that the input text and test data are very similar. The point of that post was to say that guild dsp and phil are one and the same. At first glance, that image looked incredibly legitimate. But then I looked up this tool, and there is no mention of this tool anywhere for text comparison purposes whatsoever. Not on github, not on google, not some random university site, nothing. If this guy had written his own text comparison tool, it would be most likely using a model that is publicly available. The output of the script looked as if it was something general "Are you sure you didn't use the test input by mistake?". But I couldn't find anything on it. If the guy wrote his own text analysis model as well, it is odd and unlikely to me he would've included a statement like that. It's too formal for an adhoc test tool. That tool, which is paraded around here as one of the biggest pieces of evidence, seems like a complete farce to me. I could be completely wrong on that, but that is another reason i don't give 100% credibility to the trolls.
