Has anyone checked out this game yet?

That's one of the f2p games I used to play. It has the exact same pay to win model as the WWE game does. And Guild PVP. And extremely low drop rates for anything worthwhile. Also it constantly berates you with "limited time/edition" pull pools that are extremely expensive. Getting a god tier card isn't enough either, you have to pull from more pools to get these "shards" to level up the card to have a shiny effect and extra bonuses. Then you need another copy of the card to merge it and level it up properly. People have broken it down over on reddit and its like a thousand dollars minimum to get a good card (that you already have, mind you) to its max potential.

I know a few folks who play seriously in an active group, but with the spartan attitude of "don't spend a cent" and they're competitive. HOWEVER, in the context of Phil, yes you can drop a grand here and there to get the power cards that are new/in-meta right away and get an edge in matches to carry your guild against another in guild wars. Basically treat it like Hearthstone in monetization.

Believe it or not, the game is actually mechanically sound; the guys I mentioned are old hardcore M:tG grognards and this bizarrely skinned card game took them away from Hearthstone and M:tG Arena as their mobile card game of choice.

That is unbelievably grim. This is the one "game" genre I feel no shame at looking down upon because of this shit.

And again, of course Phil's the kind of person who willingly sinks money into these. A pathetic face for an equally pathetic variety of entertainment.

Actually makes him exactly like his fans: pathetic enough to throw money into a black hole for temporary gratification and validation.

A basic bitch and his dahlers are soon parted, dood.

Just a thought that came to mind. Has anybody checked WWE Supercard to see if Phil is still active there? Like, I presume that he's more or less switched to WWE Champions...but he was also whaling out in at least one other game (Future Fight and maybe Final Fantasy Brave Exvius) while also whaling in Champions, so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Edit: And @BT9494 and @tzgnilki, feel free to keep sharing when Phil hops onto the game. I'm especially curious about days like today that are his "day off". I would imagine he's on there a ton.

Mobile gaming with instant quick gratification in the form of microtransactions at the push of a button is to a guy like DSP the ultimate joy tool.
The dip is like a fuckin rat in a maze constantly mashing the cheese button expecting a reward.
I love this saga so much.

i'll have a look at wwe supercard

going by the last 3 days i've been checking wwe champions, he logs in straight after stream at around 10p.m, I think he's sitting in his office, hiding from his wife and son jasper while he plays it

I remember looking at his wwe supercard forum posts a few days ago and noticed his last log in date for the forum was 2017

edit: I looked into wwe super and he's not on the leaderboards, however I feel like I havn't unlocked every game mode yet cause theres only 2 game types with leaderboards

gonna have to play this trash to find out

edit2: DSP doesn't appear on any leaderboards, and his name isn't in any of the top 50 guilds

Looking at the login times of him and his other 2 or 3 guildmates in previous screen captures, it looks like they only login at night as if there is a daily reset to complete daily quests or something. The funny thing about whaling out is that you trivialize any single-player aspect of the game. so he's definitely finished any kind of campaign the game might have months ago. He probably logs on in three scenarios: Completing dailies, a new wrestler is released, or a PvP event is happening.

Phil was completely doomed from the start when he decided to pick up mobile games as a hobby. This game's monetization model seems perfectly sculpted to prey on people exactly like him: people that 1.) don't like challenge (PvE) and 2.) want to completely destroy other people that challenge them (PvP).

Edit: messed up formatting

Phil was a joke on the forum and easily trolled, so he probably just left over time. I don't think there's a way to check if he's still playing.

I believe Phil quit Supercard to play other games, specifically Champions. It's not really a game, it's more card collecting that would have to get boring after the levels Phil played it at.

nothing against collecting cards, but digital cards is where it gets autistic

if dsp had collected wwe tcg IRL, maybe he'd be happy

If he allegedly whaled Brave Exvius at some point, then this story is relevant. I've been looking for an excuse to post it in this thread honestly, it is a fantastic look into the mindset of a whale. It does use a lot of gacha terms though, so if that turns you off maybe avoid it.
40 year old man spends $16000 on Final Fantasy mobile gacha game. Wife no longer trusts him. Had zero interest credit card for the game at 11k. Nearly ruined his life.
