Baltimore joined the 41%.

41% of high school students in Baltimore have a GPA under 1.0. For non-Americans, 2.0 is considered passing for lack of a better term.
For further context for non-US Kiwis, 4.0 is considered the top end of the scale and 0.0 would mean someone failed all of their classes.

The sad part is that despite inner-city school districts getting plenty of funding for both regular and remedial programs, the performance continues to decline in a never-ending cycle. As long as activists prefer to blame white people and discrimination as the causes instead of demanding accountability from the boards of education, though, things will neither change nor improve.

COVID drove home the point that there truly is a digital divide in that lower-income people of all backgrounds have less access to reliable computers/internet despite decades of Universal Service Fees intended to address this very issue. Even with ISPs willing to reduce the monthly fee to $10 to help low-income residences get broadband for distance learning (and showing how grossly inflated the regular price is), any improvements seem negligible at best. It's also further illustrated the fact past generations that weren't properly educated for whatever reason are incapable of making sure their children get properly educated, thus perpetuating the cycle. Without any push for meaningful, realistic, and practical solutions, however, we're going to see more of the same, no matter how much Federal and State money school districts receive.

Apart from those who insisted China had nothing to do with COVID since day 1, and claimed it was racist to disagree, is anyone else truly surprised at this point?

I keep seeing articles about how kids are having "learning loss" from not being in school during the quarantine. Coulda sworn that "distance learning" was supposed to be just as good as in person classes... Also I would think that parents would try helping their kids not to be behind their age group in knowing stuff, (something that can be googled without a lot of effort) but maybe that's asking too much of the current bunch of adults.
>90% percent of parents are failures. My evidence is the internet, and the world we live in.

Another factor is that parents (or more often than not for Baltimore students, parent) aren't teaching their kids any useful skills and expect the schools to handle those (and more) in addition to the subjects schools traditionally taught. Unfortunately, these schools are ill equipped to teach any of these things, especially to students who don't respect their teachers' authority and try their hardest not to learn anything in the classroom.

“WE WON’T COMPLY”: Thousands protest vaccine passes in Dublin

Thousands of protesters gathered outside the Convention Centre in Dublin to protest a government bill on domestic vaccine passes.
According to reports, busloads of protesters were arriving from around the country, and the entire event was organised in under 24 hours.

Thousands of protesters assembled outside the Convention Centre in Dublin to say #NoVaccinePassports and oppose the Dáil bill on the subject. Chants of "Freedom!" and "Shame on you!" could be heard throughout. People say #EnoughIsEnough. pic.twitter.com/oSRyLpY6pU

The crowd chanted phrases such as “Shame on you” and “Freedom”, while posters included phrases such as “My body, my choice” and “We will not comply.”
Despite the crowd’s protest, The Health (Amendment No.2) Bill 2021 was passed by 74 votes to 68.

Mattie McGrath TD of the Rural Independent Group (all members of which voted against the bill) said that the measures will “pit brother against brother, father against son, and mothers against daughters,” and asked Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly what he had against the hospitality industry.
McGrath called on Donnelly to withdraw the bill, and asserted that it was a “smash and grab for more power.”
However, Donnelly defended the policy.
“The entire European Union digital covid-19 certificate is based on vaccination status,” the minister said.
“We’ve already accepted the principle.”

Anecdote time:
I was working for some guys and I think the meme flu is really a class thing.
The younger but lower ranking guy who works for Astra Zeneca didn't care much about me being vaccinated or wearing the meme mask. Even if he has to get his temp check when he goes to work and wear meme mask there as well.

The more posh higher ranking guy at a Bus factory is all about asking about vaccinations and had to wear the meme mask in his home.

Funny how this seems to be more of a social signifier than health choice on some level. Of course, people are being strong armed into it. At least I am glad that the place I am in handled this thing super chill compared to the rest of the planet. Especially the UK and Ireland.

Ultimately I do believe that different groups really live in different values and that their culture basically makes them alien to the outsider.
The funny thing is, if there was a deadly virus that kills millions people would be rushing to getting vaccinated. Like there would be Black Friday style fights over it. Like if you turn off the media and ignore the creepy propaganda posters it's like everything is fine. Maybe because it is.

Sadly it is a thing people have already made up their mind about it. Pro Covid people will fight for their position to the last.

I think the memeflu would have never gotten off the ground without Social Media. People basically got invited to play with the narrative early on, thus making it real. In their mind. lol
