@Azovka can you give us a situation report on the conditions there? How is the mood amongst the citizens? It's been a while since I've asked you for an update.
The vaccine has been made mandatory on Monday evening. Flat out mandatory for any health worker - they have to get the shot before September 15 or else they get fired / stop being paid.
For the rest of us plebs, the vaccine isn’t “mandatory” per se, but you’ll need either that or a negative test that’s under 48h to access bars, restaurants, gyms, cinemas, museums, outdoor events, trains, planes, buses, and travel in general. So yeah, it pretty much will be.
We had the #YellowVests trending back up again after this announcement. Today is our National Day (July 4th equivalent, since we’re one of the rare countries without an Independence one), so it will be interesting to see what protests will happen.
People really aren’t too happy about that 180 turn from “we’ll never make an experimental vaccine mandatory” to “fuck you, it is now”.
The Doctolib app to take appointments for a shot has crashed on Monday night as over 900k people rushed to get their shots.
And Macron has no chill at all - the vaccine or test rule will come into effect starting on July 21st for most things, so gl seeing Fast & Furious if you aren’t jabbed or shot twice until then.
There’s also a shit ton of fake QR codes being sold or else just doctors flushing the vaccine and giving you the papers anyways for 300€, from what I’ve seen so far.
Personally, I was expecting the vaccine to be mandatory for months now, so I already got both doses of Pfizer back in May despite not being in any “protected” category. Just showed up in the early evening since a lot of centres had doses to spare, and asked a guy that liked me nicely.
I don’t believe in its effectiveness though, what with all the “variants”, and God only knows what long term effects this shit has, but I’m a hedonistic creature, and it was easier than getting cotton picks jabbed into your brain every two days to go for drinks.
So yeah, this afternoon, there are supposed to be protests. Guess we’ll see how they’ll go.
