Might see a resurgence of yellow ribbon and "INFECTED INSIDE" signs on houses, along with towns putting up roadblocks with "Keep on going" signs.

Like I said back on like Friday or Saturday...

Gonna be interesting in about 72-96 hours.

See, the world runs on Zero-Inventory principals. The back stockroom is extremely thin nowadays and even the distribution centers in the city are pretty stock thin. Land is cheaper in the country and it's cheaper and easier to run stock via semi into the city to refill inventory than have a huge warehouse where the property taxes on that warehouse are more per year than it would be to buy another whole warehouse 100 miles away.

Most major cities nowadays don't have much more than 3-5 days of food, in the entire city, for the population, and that includes if you rob the vending machines. I remember reading a FEMA report in the late 90's warning that very fact could end up causing problems in the case of a major disaster and suggested several different ways to the Clinton Administration for handling it.

Then the hurricane during the Bush Administration proved that the Clinton Administration, or at least the Louisiana government, didn't pay attention to fuck all.

It's going to be interesting to see if all the money Obama poured into FEMA went into ensuring logistic chains remain tight for FEMA and the US military, or if it all got poured into gold doorknobs and indoor golf courses at Raven Rock.
Super important point. That's the one everyone seems to be missing.

The world runs off just in time inventory. A major disruption to supply chains in or out is massive and no one is equipped to deal.

This isn't necessarily about the virus. This is about what happens when people respond. We're not set up to go without deliveries.

Thank god I was scared for a minute they would quarantine the rich chinks trying to escape and not instead endorse it, I hope both them and their gift makes it safely to US soil :)

My little brother came back from his university commute. On top of being a big school, its got has a massive Chinese exchange student population (especially in the business campus), most of them probably having just returned from the mainland after winter vacation. Pretty much every Asian there were sporting face masks, him included.

He's beginning to eye everyone as if they're a potential carrier, though at the same time doesn't want others to suspect he's infected. I offered to grab a sharpie and write "NOT SICK" on each of his masks, though he declined.

What the fuck are you on about?

Japan quarantined him, you fucking prick.

I knew a British dude some years ago who managed to catch chicken pox on his trip home to the UK from Japan. He developed the spots on the plane...
Uh, are you sure?

I dislike where this is going.

We'll know on the first of Feb if she's still dancing on the stripper pole or if she's headed to the club. Right now it looks like she's getting ready to go dancing at the club.

Right now she's jumping at roughly 150% of the last day's data in infected and roughly 150% of the last day's dead.

If you're the one doing the table, can you add a third column with the percentage increases? I'm feeling lazy.

Still, might have to start tracking national spreads both point to point and then national internal spread.

Gonna have to start watching for secondary signs too.

Still, there's a good chance she'll slip and fall off the stage and land on her face.

EDIT: Misspoke like a 'tard.

All my glands are swollen, panicked, because I knew my job would get me sick and was expecting Corona-chan to bless me.
Realised I haven't been to Wuhan, nor do I have a passport or any friends.

Mono-chan seems like it would be way kinder on the ole' internal organs.

Me? No. I'm just a crazy dude in Oregon.

Welp, it's me. I'm the tard. LOL.

On a more serious note, that ASU tweet thing looks like the first of what we're gonna see. More and more colleges and universities with overly stringent attendance policies allowing infected students to infect the student body during classes and in dorms because otherwise they might miss out the sweet sweet Pollution Goblin bucks. Then, when outed that there's people with it on campus, pressuring students (and probably faculty) to delete the information so that they can keep going on as usual, then <Surprise Picachu Face> when a shitload of their students get sick.

Just doing some old war-gaming thunks, it bothers me to realize that rather than think about public safety, more and more Universities will do the same thing, fucking companies will do the same thing by forcing workers to come in even if sick (That's why sick leave was invented. If Corona-Chan goes from dancing on a stripper pole to ballroom dancing, afterwards, we might see the return of sick leave even in entry-level jobs), and nations and countries won't want to appear racist while they shelter the rich and lucky fleeing China, with the anti-vaxxers deliberately infecting their kids AND unassimilated immigrants refusing to go to the hospital while the generational inhabitants of Gibsmedatstan flood the hospitals for every sniffle and get infected before bringing it back to their community combined with their mistrust of "The Man" and half of this shit might be our own doing. Add in Peach Mints and stupidity infecting the American government, fears of "racist" and wanting to suck Pollution Goblin cock for as long as possible to get the most money by our various Western governments, and it's just looking great for the common person, who the government is supposed to protect.

Might as well play Plague Inc. on Easy from how it fucking looks.

Welp, either way, we'll see what happens.

Gotta give it to Corona-Chan, she's dancing her ass off and working that stripper pole for all it's worth.

Jesus H. Fucking Christ. A picture from the 1918 flu outbreak came to mind. Gymnasium being used as a hospital, beds in rows on the basketball floor. This could well happen again. No hospital in a college town will have the capacity to handle hundreds of sick students. That may have to be multiplied a whole bunch of times. Let's hope not, at least here. Already past that point in parts of China.

Was also thinking about some more workers who we should hope don't get sick in numbers. Water plant/sewer workers, for one. Tap water in China drinkable only at the drinker's peril. This surely exacerbates the suffering of the sick there. Tap water in the USA drinkable anywhere. Am sure some water plant and sewer jobs are rather specialized, could be hard to find qualified replacements quickly. Truck drivers, for obvious reasons. Police/fire/ambulance/EMTs. Phone/Internet technicians - vital to today's life. Plenty more. See what you can think of.

where does the "prediction" table come from?
it's not like any other rando making shit up will be _less_ reliable than china

Also a lot of these posts with "we" and "here" could use at least a mention of "the USA" or "Mainland China" or something at the start so they made any sense. And since we're talking mostly usa or china the old standby of "assume if they don't say they're a selfcentered americunt" doesn't really work so well since china does it as much

Knowing China, the anti-virals most likely won't be used for clinical trials like they should be. These things are going to be thrown around the country with no regard to tracking or monitoring who the anti-virals were administered to. Who knows, we many get a new strain out of it.

Or the US antivirals are saved for top level CCP members and their families.

What the fuck are you on about? The UK lost track of 1,500 tourists from Wuhan. They're not on top of a fucking thing.
