Masks will no longer be mandatory in enclosed public spaces from tomorrow in England.
Multiple shops and rail operators have declared that they will still be asking customers and staff to continue wearing masks.
This has, however, provoked much REEEEEing from... branch covidians? Oh right, because the shops and rail operators have said they'll merely be "asking", "encouraging" or "suggesting" people wear masks, but it's down to the individual to choose. The commentators on Brit reddit think this is a cop out, along with circle jerking about how people who don't wear masks are all going to protest/boycott these shops (despite the fact they can shop there unimpeded) and then, of course, the ones who are socially anxious shut ins:

Please note that there has never been a suggestion of people
not being allowed to wear masks or being barred from places for wearing masks, but some of these commentators expressed concerns that they were going to get attacked for wearing a mask (this has never happened) or that "everyone will stare" etc. etc.
Much like last time what will actually happen is over the next couple of months mask wearing will drop to a tiny minority as more and more people just stop wearing masks. I'll be interested to see what the Brit coronavirus subreddits look like in a year's time.
